Akira Tozawa challenged Buddy Murphy for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship on the Kickoff for WWE Elimination Chamber.
Akira Tozawa challenged Buddy Murphy for the focal point of 205 Live, the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. Murphy has been champion since WWE Super Showdown in Australia in October.

This highly competitive match saw Tozawa start at the disadvantage, but show a ton of fighting spirit to regain the upper hand, even scoring a near fall with a German Suplex. Tozawa would reverse Murphy into a reverse hurricanrana, but Murphy was smart in rolling to the outside.

The Houston crowd got heavily invested, changing “This Is Awesome!” and buying into a late near fall for the challenger. Tozawa reversed Murphy’s Law into a roll-up, Murphy would eventually power out of an Octopus Lock and transition into Murphy’s Law, overcoming a game Tozawa to retain.
