Is Becky vs Ronda vs Charlotte Becoming Overhyped?

Some like extra hype in their WWE main events. But is this too much? Carol weighs in. 

The biggest storyline talked about during WrestleMania season is Becky Lynch vs Ronda Rousey, actually make it Becky vs Ronda vs Charlotte. Whether the women are talking smack on WWE television or unleashing their pent up anger via social media, everyone’s attention is focused on them.

Since their match is going to be the main event of WrestleMania, it’s no surprise why it’s receiving so much attention.  However, is all the attention causing WWE to neglect the other wrestlers in the women’s division?

The answer is yes.

Charlotte and Becky are SmackDown stars, but they’re challenging Ronda Rousey for the RAW Women’s Championship. You’d figure with the red brand’s championship on the line that they would keep the storyline on RAW.

But WWE is continuing to feature Flair and Lynch on both shows, and in the process the other women are hardly featured onscreen.

Last week on SmackDown there was supposed to be a number one contender’s match for SmackDown Women’s Champion Asuka at Fastlane. However, the match got scrapped because they needed Charlotte to cut another promo about why she’s the best in the business and why she deserves the RAW Women’s Championship.

Fans were outraged that the match got cut because of Charlotte. They immediately took to social media to voice their displeasure and criticism over WWE over-pushing Charlotte, Becky, and Ronda.

You’d figure after last week, WWE would’ve learned their lesson.

But no.

Once again this week, the SmackDown women were hardly featured, except for a quick squash match with Mandy and Naomi. But a majority of the time consisted of another Charlotte promo along with Becky sneaking in to attack her opponent.

I understand WWE wants to add the suspense of whether Becky will win her match at Fastlane to be added to Charlotte and Ronda’s match. But the segment on Smackdown was unnecessary. All it did was repeat the same narrative that Becky’s a tough woman and nothing’s going to stop her from getting to Ronda.

There’s no denying that Becky, Charlotte, and Ronda are the top women in WWE at the moment. However, I fear that the more WWE pushes them, then fans are going to turn against them.

With this match being the first time ever that women main-event WrestleMania, WWE wants to hype it up as much as they can. But they need to realize that all the focus can’t be on just those three women.

They have Asuka’s the SmackDown Women’s Champion, plus there’s also the new women’s tag team champions Bayley and Sasha Banks. These ladies along with the rest of the women’s division need to be featured more on WWE programming.

WrestleMania 35 is less than a month away, and Becky vs Ronda vs Charlotte has already been hyped enough. It’s time that WWE takes a break from them and start building other storylines for the women. Asuka still needs an opponent as does Sasha and Bayley, also there’s the women’s Battle Royale which has the potential to lead to new feuds down the line.
