NXT Will Have A Women’s Tag Team Division

Scott Mcleod chimes in on the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships extending their reach to NXT!

On this week’s NXT the new Women’s Tag Team Champions Bayley & Sasha Banks made a surprise appearance. A great reception for these two NXT homegrown talents who have had some of the brands best matches.

They announced that the Women’s tag titles will be defended on NXT as well as Raw & SmackDown. This is a good thing for Women’s division on all three brands as they will start to build a proper tag division in order for Bayley and Sasha to have credible challengers.

An issue WWE has had with booking their women’s division is they don’t book proper feuds that don’t involve the Women’s championship.With a tag division you can have non title feuds you build teams up for a future shot once the champs come to their brand.

NXT is no stranger to having women’s teams with Summer Rae, Sasha Banks & Charlotte forming the BFFs (Beautiful Fierce Females) in the brands early days. Further down the line you’ve had the IIconics and Emma and Dana Brooke.

You have to wonder how much more these teams could have done if they had the chance to challenge for tag titles.

At the moment in NXT you have teams like Jessamyn Duke & Marina Shafir and Kairi Sane & Io Shari as potential challengers. Recently Vanessa Borne & Aliyah have teased an alliance. We’ll see a lot of seemingly random teams forming as the division grows. Although who doesn’t love a good oddball tag team

I’d like to see the titles defended on NXT UK at some point. Probably not for another few months as it’s the newest brand which is still establishing it’s Women’s division.

Plus they just signed Jazzy Gabert, Kay Lee Ray & Viper most likely to NXT UK. Personally I’d like to see Ray and Viper as team going after the tag titles.
