Tiffany’s Takes: WWE SmackDown Live (7/23/19)
The KO Show?
The RAW Reunion is in the books. How will SmackDown build their SummerSlam card?
Why is New Day on the announce table if Shane McMahon’s cutting a promo? Something about this doesn’t add up. I really don’t like David Otunga, but since Byron Saxton is out due to the death of his father, I’ll put up with him. OH, Graves and Saxton are out, so New Day is filling in. Gotcha.
I like Shane looking around to be sure Kevin Owens isn’t around. However, blah, blah, blah, get to the point. McMahon vs Owens at SummerSlam. Works for me. So we’re bringing up a year old video for justification? Shane, do you REALLY want to go down that rabbithole?
What fucking weird ass world are we in that I’m happy Owens is here? Also, love the sleeve. Love Owens being candid. Owens tried to not ruffle feathers? Good Lord. Well, don’t pull punches, Kev, tell us what you think. Roman Reigns vs KO sounds like Shane’s going to get his ass kicked twice.
Ah, the good squad. Have a feeling all of them will get their asses kicked tonight. Way to play the Bond Villain, Shane.
I hate Shinsuke Nakamura’s entrance, it always gives me a headache. Apollo Crews has come a long way, but he still doesn’t grab me. This was a great match, but I wasn’t shocked Nakamura won, I’m more surprised they gave Crews the time instead of making it a squash.
I’m a little curious about the storyline building between Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose, but I’m a little afraid that it’s going to catch a lot of flack. Interesting that they get a match against the IIconics next week. Looks like it’ll be a Triple Threat Women’s Championship Match at SummerSlam.
Love fired up! Ali, hope he gets a title shot at SummerSlam.
In another universe, Shawn Michaels and Miz would be a dream match. Same with Michaels and Dolph Ziggler. Ziggler KIND OF reminds me of HBK in the 90s, but HBK had a charm that offset his brashness that Ziggler does NOT have. Also, does anyone have aloe vera, because Ziggler might need it for that burn. Ouch. He. Did. NOT! Oh, you’ll pay for that one, Ziggy.
Charlotte Flair is back and just HAPPENED to be put in a match with Bayley’s #1 Contender, Ember Moon, and once again, WWE RUINED my comments about Charlotte and the Women’s Title picture. So rude! Joking aside, I’m glad it looks like Ember is going to get a one on one with Bayley instead of Charlotte shoehorning herself in like what happened last year to Becky Lynch, but that turned out pretty good. Also, love Bayley getting one over on Charlotte. Not here for Moon turning on Bayley. Guess Charlotte will get in anyway. Damn.
I really love the idea of Kofi Kingston laying down a SummerSlam Challenge, but we already know Randy Orton’s going to get it and I’d prefer Ali. Why are we digging out old footage this week? Kingston and Daniel Bryan proved at WrestleMania that two smaller guys can carry a main event, I think it’s time that someone proves that two POC can carry a main event on a big stage.
Kingston vs Samoa Joe was good, as usual, but this was another match to set up something bigger, which was disappointing. I’d normally say we’re probably getting a Triple Threat, but it looks like Samoa Joe is going to be tangling with Roman Reigns, it’s going to be a one-on-one.
Finn Balor is here! I thought Balor was going to have a match, but we got Firefly FunHouse, God help us all. I’m not sure which is more disturbing, this or Bray Wyatt as Sister Abigail. At least FFH wasn’t Bray Wyatt in a weird veil and a bad voice and I could change the channel on this one. I had to sit through the Sister Abigail farce.
I don’t know why Michael Cole is suddenly on SmackDown again, but I’ll go along with it.
Okay, so Charlotte still thinks she owns the Women’s Division after being gone for months. Sorry, Charlotte, you got usurped. Find your own match because we’ve moved on.
Boy, the McMahons can’t resist playing Bond Villain, can they? Shane thought he had all the angles covered, and then KO and Roman Reigns flipped the table. Sorry Shane, better luck at SummerSlam.
That’s it for Tiffany’s SmackDown Takes! Stay tuned for 205 Live!

Chris King: Too Soon For Seth Rollins vs. Bron Breaker?
Is WWE Backlash too soon for Bron Breakker vs Seth Rollins? Chris King weighs in!
Is WWE Backlash too soon for Bron Breakker vs Seth Rollins? Chris King weighs in!
‘The Visionary’ Seth Freakin’ Rollins and Bron Breakker opened Monday Night Raw in an extremely intense face-off. Both superstars traded barbs at each other. Rollins, being the veteran, was trying to show the young up-and-comer Breakker that he isn’t ready to become the next big-money superstar in the WWE. Breakker told his former Vision leader that he never needed him and got sick and tired of fighting Rollins’ battles.
Rollins threw out the challenge for Backlash, but I am questioning whether it’s wise to give away the one-on-one match so early. Breakker made his shocking return at WrestleMania, taking out Rollins and costing him the match against Gunther.

The following night Breakker broke his rival in two, delivering two massive spears. Last week, The Street Profits returned to help Rollins against The Vision, and that made me believe WWE was heading in a different direction. I was thinking that WWE should book The Vision vs. The Street Profits and Rollins in a six-man tag team match, but this week, Montez Ford said that they didn’t return for Rollins and they want the tag team titles. Rollins will face Breakker in a highly anticipated singles match at Backlash, where I am predicting Rollins to get the win. I can easily see Rollins’ fourteen years of experience getting the better of the young up-and-comer to outsmart him.
While The Street Profits attempt to win the championships from Austin Theory and Logan Paul, I don’t see a title change happening anytime soon. If that’s the case, then I can see Rollins and The Street Profits teaming up in a few weeks or possibly at Night of Champions. This would also extend the rivalry between Rollins and Breakker all the way into SummerSlam, where Rollins will take the loss. I am happy that WWE didn’t rush this and add it to the Mania card because now this feud has time to develop properly.

Chris King: The Wyatt Sicks’ Wasted Potential By WWE
Chris King takes a look at the WWE and their wasted potential of Uncle Howdy and the Wyatt Sicks faction.
Chris King takes a look at the WWE and their wasted potential of Uncle Howdy and the Wyatt Sicks faction.
It’s that time of the year again, folks; it’s unfortunate and downright awful that so many WWE superstars got released today. I’m not going to list all of them, but I am going to talk about one of my favorite factions,
The Wyatt Sicks. Nikki Cross, Joe Gacy, Erik Rowan, and Bo Dallas (Uncle Howdy) were something special. After Bo’s brother Bray Wyatt’s tragic passing, WWE felt like there was a hole that needed to be filled. Wyatt was one of the most creative and brilliant characters, and Bo would be taking over his brother’s concept and bringing it to life. In 2024, at the end of an incredible documentary highlighting Wyatt’s career and struggles, Bo appeared on the screen portrayed as Uncle Howdy. The last time Uncle Howdy was seen on-screen was at the 2023 Royal Rumble, where Wyatt defeated LA Knight in a Pitch Black Match. Howdy jumped off a structure onto Knight.
This post-credit scene sparked so much speculation and excitement that Wyatt’s brother would carry on his legacy and possibly debut the faction that was Wyatt’s concept. On the June 17th episode of Monday Night Raw, The Wyatt Sicks made their dramatic debut ,destroying the backstage area as well as “murdering” Chad Gable. It was such an iconic arrival for Howdy as he made his menacing walk from the back into the audience who were chanting “Holy Shit.” The Sicks and American Made (Chad Gable and The Creed Brothers) battled for months, with The Sicks being victorious. On the September 9th episode of Raw, The Sicks defeated them, with Howdy getting the win with Sister Abigail.
The following year, The Sicks would move over to Friday Night SmackDown, and it seemed like WWE had a plan in place. They would win the tag team championships from The Street Profits and start to look dominant. Now, what should have happened next is Howdy should have won the United States title. The Sicks could have held all the gold over on the blue brand, but it never happened. The Sicks entered into a never-ending feud with The MFT’s (Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, JC Mateo, and Talla Tonga.) It started off exciting, and the WWE Universe was red-hot for their interactions.
After months of repetitive matches and The MFT’s stealing their lantern, the feud grew tiresome and boring. Even Tama asked Solo why they are still holding onto the lantern, as it was destroying them as a whole. Finally on the SmackDown before Mania, Tama
gave the lantern back to Howdy against Solo’s wishes. Please explain to me why both factions fought almost every single week instead of just having one final blowoff match at WrestleMania.
It should have been either a massive street fight or a falls count anywhere match on the grandest stage of them all. Instead, it turned into a meaningless week-after-week extravaganza that benefited no one. The MFTs won the rivalry, and The Sicks don’t even work for WWE anymore. This was the same criminalized creative process that Wyatt dealt with during his first run in the company.
We’ll never know how much of a dangerous force The Wyatt Sicks could have been in the WWE. For all their careers’ sake, I hope they stay far away from the company for as long as possible. Every superstar that was cut deserves better!
