JKJ & Thirteen|10 are back with your New Japan royal Quest preview! What will happen when Strong Style returns to the UK?
Three years ago I was introduced to NJPW and a huge thanks must go out to Kenny Omega & Kazuchika Okada.
The Epic clashes between Okada & Omega most notably at Wrestle Kingdom 11 & Dominion that same year were then headed up by Omega winning the gold at Dominion 2018! What a roller-coaster ride of a feud that proved to be.
My subscription to NJPWorld began in October 2017 when Chris Jericho debuted during World Tag League and brutally assaulted Kenny Omega, therefore announcing “Alpha Club” which led to a Match of the year candidate at WrestleKingdom 12, this was a feud that led to thousands of more people attending the Tokyo dome and subscribing to this awesome content.
Fast forward 2 years and here I am, Royal Quest ticket in hand, London weekend all planned and with only the headache of not knowing what merchandise to wear or even buy on the day, oh life’s problems!
I cannot wait to be amongst the thousand of NJPW fans at the Copper Box arena screaming “Kaze Ni Nare” during Minoru Suzuki’s entrance before he challenges “Rainmaker” for the IWGP Heavyweight championship or even shouting “Destinooooo” just like Kevin Kelly so often delivers with utter perfection.
This brings me to this blog, or for this instance, fantasy writing. The Card is stacked. Four title matches is going to whet the appetite for us UK fans who have never experienced NJPW and I can assure you that we are going to want so much more every year. Will NJPW make Royal Quest an annual show? if we fill the copper box and make enough noise then surely we cannot be ignored in the future!
How very exciting…….

Match 1: Shota Umino, Ren Narita & Rasuke Taguchi vs Roppongi 3K
What interests me here is the Shota Umino story, will he show any slight heel persona to his partners for this match? Will the Jon Moxley attitude slowly rub off? I sure do hope so. I want to see Shota completely layout Ren Narita after defeat in this opening match, I fully expect Shota to leave Ren laying motionless and as Taguchi steps in he attacks their mentor. Shota & Ren are fantastic Young Lions and a mini-story feud throughout the pending Destruction tour will be welcome viewing for us all.
Match 2: Kota Ibushi & Juice Robinson vs Bullet Club (Hikuleo & Yujiro Takahashi)
Kota Ibushi is on the road to WrestleKingdom and at some point will be required to defend his Briefcase/contract, Juice, on the other hand, is waiting for the now-injured IWGP US Champion Jon Moxley to return for the no DQ title match. I see this as a showcase for Ibushi & Juice to get a fairly straight forward win here. Keep an eye on Hikuleo who has been performing in the UK for around 4-5 weeks and would have grown a fan base here. Nothing more and nothing less than exposure for a few fan favorites here!
Match 3: Will Ospreay & Robbie Eagles vs Bullet Club (El Phantasmo & Taiji Ishimori)
This could be a potential show-stealer, there are so many great stories that could come from this and we could easily see these exact 4 showcase their abilities again at WrestleKingdom in January. Will is destined to now (Spoiler Alert) face Super J Cup winner ELP after his tournament win. Robbie Eagles is slowly making a name for himself since breaking away from BC and Taiji Ishimori will always be in the frame for a future Jr Heavyweight title match. I can see Bullet Club picking up the win with ELP pinning Ospreay again, yes again, thus setting up a title match on the destruction tour. Eagles will impressive so keep an eye on the sniper of the skies!
Match 4: LIJ (Tetsuya Naito & SANADA) vs Bullet Club (Jay White & Chase Owens)
Oh man, I love Chase Owens, all-round great guy, and fantastic worker but he really is here to take the pin isn’t he?! Naito & White have an IC title match scheduled for Destruction and they will brawl and beat the living hell out of each other. I can see SANADA (who will be extremely popular) making Chase Tap out with Skull end.

All this action so far and we are now about to hit the title matches! What a memorable night this is going to be!
Match 5: IWGP Heavyweight Tag Titles: GOD (Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa) (c) vs ????
So, The challengers will be determined at RevPro Summer Sizzler on Friday night as Josh Bodom & Sha Samuels (#EAST) take on Aussie Open, Kyle Fletcher & Dunkzilla Mark Davis. I have to go with Aussie Open becoming the challengers, is this a way for them to get one hell of a crowd pop by winning the Tag Titles in a country that they have made their own?!
Aussie Open WILL win the IWGP tag titles to make this a memorable night, they can also defend and perform in Revpro and will, in my opinion, enter NJPW World Tag League in October. This will be a fun back and forth match but will be the first huge pop of the night!
Match 6: Never Openweight Championship: Tomohiro Ishii (c) vs Kenta
Kenta is Bullet Club, Kenta, despite a few defeats in the G1, looks great and has fitted perfectly into his heel Bullet Club role. But…..”The Wrestler” Katsuyori Shibata will be in town and I fully expect Shibata to get revenge for his recent beatdown, thus costing Kenta the title. This is going to be a hard-hitting affair and as a huge Ishii fan since his G1 match and win over Kenny Omega in 2018 I cannot wait to be sat on the edge of my seat listening for the chops and kicks in this one. Ishii retains!
Match 7: Rev Pro British Heavyweight Championship: Zask Sabre Jr (c) vs Hiroshi Tanahashi
Well, well, well, what do we here?! One of the finest British wrestlers that we have ever seen is facing one of NJPWs greatest EVER! Could Zack really lose on home soil? Will Tana travel back and forth to the UK to make defenses? Perhaps Not so I am booking ZSJ to roll up the challenger and continue his personal dominance of the gold strap. Nothing that we haven’t seen before here other than a potential MOTY “wrestling” match. I cannot wait!
Match 8 (Main Event): IWGP Heavyweight Championship: Kazuchika Okada (c) vs Minoru Suzuki
We have had time limit draws in the rain with these 2 before so lucky the roof will be intact at the Copperbox arena on Saturday but expect the roof to blow off not once, but twice. The “KAZA NI NARE” entrance from the King is going to be goosebump worthy for me and everyone else in attendance but this will only be the first. Suzuki will kick out of Rainmaker, he will go on to reverse the Rainmaker attempt and the hit that gotch style piledriver to win yes WIN the IWGP Heavyweight title in a country that he is adored! This moment is what will separate this show from any other in the UK this year!
All I can say is let’s make some serious noise, share our appreciation and welcome them back next year for another Royal Quest.

Chris King: The Wyatt Sicks’ Wasted Potential By WWE
Chris King takes a look at the WWE and their wasted potential of Uncle Howdy and the Wyatt Sicks faction.
Chris King takes a look at the WWE and their wasted potential of Uncle Howdy and the Wyatt Sicks faction.
It’s that time of the year again, folks; it’s unfortunate and downright awful that so many WWE superstars got released today. I’m not going to list all of them, but I am going to talk about one of my favorite factions,
The Wyatt Sicks. Nikki Cross, Joe Gacy, Erik Rowan, and Bo Dallas (Uncle Howdy) were something special. After Bo’s brother Bray Wyatt’s tragic passing, WWE felt like there was a hole that needed to be filled. Wyatt was one of the most creative and brilliant characters, and Bo would be taking over his brother’s concept and bringing it to life. In 2024, at the end of an incredible documentary highlighting Wyatt’s career and struggles, Bo appeared on the screen portrayed as Uncle Howdy. The last time Uncle Howdy was seen on-screen was at the 2023 Royal Rumble, where Wyatt defeated LA Knight in a Pitch Black Match. Howdy jumped off a structure onto Knight.
This post-credit scene sparked so much speculation and excitement that Wyatt’s brother would carry on his legacy and possibly debut the faction that was Wyatt’s concept. On the June 17th episode of Monday Night Raw, The Wyatt Sicks made their dramatic debut ,destroying the backstage area as well as “murdering” Chad Gable. It was such an iconic arrival for Howdy as he made his menacing walk from the back into the audience who were chanting “Holy Shit.” The Sicks and American Made (Chad Gable and The Creed Brothers) battled for months, with The Sicks being victorious. On the September 9th episode of Raw, The Sicks defeated them, with Howdy getting the win with Sister Abigail.
The following year, The Sicks would move over to Friday Night SmackDown, and it seemed like WWE had a plan in place. They would win the tag team championships from The Street Profits and start to look dominant. Now, what should have happened next is Howdy should have won the United States title. The Sicks could have held all the gold over on the blue brand, but it never happened. The Sicks entered into a never-ending feud with The MFT’s (Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, JC Mateo, and Talla Tonga.) It started off exciting, and the WWE Universe was red-hot for their interactions.
After months of repetitive matches and The MFT’s stealing their lantern, the feud grew tiresome and boring. Even Tama asked Solo why they are still holding onto the lantern, as it was destroying them as a whole. Finally on the SmackDown before Mania, Tama
gave the lantern back to Howdy against Solo’s wishes. Please explain to me why both factions fought almost every single week instead of just having one final blowoff match at WrestleMania.
It should have been either a massive street fight or a falls count anywhere match on the grandest stage of them all. Instead, it turned into a meaningless week-after-week extravaganza that benefited no one. The MFTs won the rivalry, and The Sicks don’t even work for WWE anymore. This was the same criminalized creative process that Wyatt dealt with during his first run in the company.
We’ll never know how much of a dangerous force The Wyatt Sicks could have been in the WWE. For all their careers’ sake, I hope they stay far away from the company for as long as possible. Every superstar that was cut deserves better!

Chris King: Bloodline Saga: Is This the Right Call For WWE?
Chris King questions the WWE’s logic in setting up Jacob Fatu as the next challenger for World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns
Chris King questions the WWE’s logic in setting up Jacob Fatu as the next challenger for World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns
Roman Reigns is once again World Heavyweight Champion after his dominant win over CM Punk at WrestleMania 42. On the following night on Monday Night Raw, The OG Bloodline came back together as a well-oiled machine as The Usos stood side by side with Roman. With the WWE Universe asking who would be the first to challenge “The Tribal Chief,” Jacob Fatu shocked the world by answering the call.
Fatu is running hot after his impressive win over Drew McIntyre and feels like he is ready to become the new world champion. This bloodline segment ended Raw, and it picked right back up on SmackDown with even Solo Sikoa and the MFTs involved. This is now two shows that have been centered around The Bloodline saga, and it’s made me question whether or not WWE should be retelling this story.
The Bloodline (Roman Reigns, The Usos, and Solo Sikoa) ran WWE for over four years as Reigns’ henchmen, doing his dirty work to retain his title. Even though Roman has declared he doesn’t want Jey and Jimmy to serve him, it sure seems like WWE are spinning their wheels. Fatu could add a whole new chapter into the story, even if he’s not able to beat Roman at Backlash. “The Samoan Werewolf” could be forced to do the same thing as Jey did all those years ago and fall in line.
In my opinion, I feel like Fatu should be challenging for the Undisputed WWE Championship because that’s a title I feel like he should win. I understand standing up to your blood and trying to prove you’re the best, but I don’t think this is the right move. It feels like 2022 all over again, as The Bloodline is the central focus on both shows. If Fatu doesn’t win, what happens to all his momentum he’s been building over the last two years?
Why did WWE make this the best choice for storyline purposes? Why couldn’t creative have come up with a different challenger for Roman? There are so many other superstars that could challenge The Tribal Chief, such as Rusev, Bron Breakker, Gunther, or even a returning Sheamus.
I just can’t help but question WWE’s logic here, and it kind of reminds me of all the times The Shield reunited. Could WWE be pushing the same storyline too many times here? Could the WWE Universe get tired of this rinse and repeat cycle of The Bloodline Saga?
Are we about to see all the weekly episodes solely focused on The Bloodline again? Will it be cinema… Yes. Is there still money in The Bloodline… Yes. Was it the right call? That’s to be determined!
