King: A New And Improved Tony Nese

Chris King takes a look at the descending Tony Nese who recently started in a downward spiral on 205 Live. What did The Premier Athlete mean by he will need take things a different direction? 

“The Premier Athlete” Tony Nese was sitting atop the mountain of 205 Live as the WWE Cruiserweight Champion not too long ago, at WrestleMania 35 when he defeated Buddy Murphy. Nese retained his title against “The Persian Lion” Ariya Daivari at Money in the Bank.

Nese was no match for his former friend though, a new and improved Drew Gulak when they faced each other in a triple-threat-match at Stomping Grounds. And just like that, Nese was kicked off the top of the mountain and fell to the back of the line.

The Premier Athlete received his rematch at Extreme Rules but was unsuccessful in his attempt to regain the Cruiserweight Championship. Three weeks ago on August 6th episode of 205 Live, Nese came within seconds of winning a high-octane chaotic Six-Pack Challenge to get another title shot.

“The Fury of 205 Live” Oney Lorcan dropped Nese with a devastating Half-and-half to crush his dreams and went on to face Gulak at SummerSlam. During last week’s explosive Captain’s Challenge Five-on-Five Match, Nese came up short once again when he attempted his sunset driver one too many times and Lorcan eliminated him.

During a backstage interview on this week’s episode of 205 Live, Nese claimed that he will do whatever it takes to regain the Cruiserweight Championship but maybe he needs to go about it a different way. Perhaps Nese is finding out that Gulak had been right all along, and is following in the footsteps of “The Law of 205 Live”.

Obviously, things have not gone well for The Premier Athlete in months. The Premier Athlete needs to change something to get back on track and climb up the ladder to become a two-time Cruiserweight Champion. What do you think Nese should do going forward? Send me your comments.
