So, last week, Drew Gulak beat Oney Lorcan in a Cruiserweight Championship rematch, but the story wasn’t over. The two had a nasty brawl in the back after the show, leading to Drake Maverick declaring a massive tag match for this week!

Team Gulak vs Team Lorcan. Let the Cruiserweight Civil War begin!

Team Gulak (Drew Gulak, Ariya Daivari, Mike Kanellis, Tony Nese, and Angel Garza from NXT’s Breakout Tournament) vs Team Lorcan (Oney Lorcan, Humberto Carillo, Jack Gallagher, Akira Tozawa, and Isaiah ‘Swerve’ Scott)

Okay, I honestly wasn’t expecting this match to be the WHOLE show, but a tag match this big is probably going to take awhile, especially if it’s a Survivor Series style match, which is what it seems like it’s going to be given that basically the entire 205 roster is in this match.

The quadruple dive with Williams IV, V, VI, and VII, which is more King Williams than have existed in the whole of English History, was really fun.

I really appreciate that the NXT guys got a chance to really shine in this match. It would’ve been easy for the top 205 guys to take the whole spotlight, but they didn’t. Also, Carrillo vs Garza was LOVELY.

Also, as seen in the header, Mike Kanellis was back! Unfortunately, he didn’t get as good a showing as I would’ve liked, but he was there and eliminated someone along the way.

Scott vs Garza was so good to watch. I can’t believe NXT was keeping these guys off TV because they are SO good!

Was NOT expecting that confrontation between Brian Kendrick and Jack Gallagher. Looks like Kendrick might be getting ready to turn heel again.

Scrap this whole multi-man and make it Garza vs Scott.

I just get nothing from Humberto Carrillo. I want to, he’s a great talent and screams ‘babyface’, but I just feel like there’s nothing to him.

Did Lorcan just take out his own partner? No, wait, that was Garza, my mistake. In my defense, Garza and Carrillo are both wearing white and gold ring gear.

So, Gulak got DQ’d for using a chair, saving himself from being pinned by Lorcan or Carrillo, but I don’t think that’s going to help him with Maverick.

Good god, Garza didn’t even try to hide the fact that he was using the ropes for leverage. Don’t they teach that in heel school?

So, Carrillo gets the win for his team, but the champ wasn’t pinned, so it was a pin that really means nothing. However, it’s clear that Gulak vs Lorcan isn’t over with, but after all that, the continuation of ONE feud seems like small potatoes. Maybe it’s just me.

That’s it for Tiffany’s 205 Takes! Tune in tomorrow for the NXT coverages.

Wasn’t Revenge last night?

Kam Hendrix & Harley Riggins still think they run Evolve, but will they regret ever bullying Tate Wilder & Luca Crusifino?

OFFICIAL RESULTS

  • Kam Hendrix & Harley Riggins VS Tate Wilder & Luca Crusifino; Kam & Harley win.
  • Kali Armstrong VS Layla Diggs w/ Masyn Holiday; Kali wins.
  • Bull Rope Match: Brooks Jensen VS Cappuccino Jones; Jensen wins.

PLAY BY PLAY

Cappuccino Jones walks ‘n’ talks.

Cap arrives to the arena as he says, “Usually every time you see me, I’m in a good mood, but guess what? I woke up and I’m not in a good mood today. Brooks Jensen, when you hit me with that cowbell, you woke me up and brought a flavor out of me nobody’s ever seen. So tonight, this one is personal. It’s the first ever Bull Rope Match of my career, and you best believe I’m gonna savor that flavor.”

Brooks Jensen also walks ‘n’ talks.

The Lost Cause is already in the bowels of the arena as he says, “Tonight, there is no coffee pun, no escape. The both of us, tied to an unforgiving bull rope with a chunk of steel in the middle. There is no fun tonight, but there is one thing, and that is pain on you, Cappuccino Jones! Courtesy of the Bad Man who hails from Ala-Bam-Bam-Bam-Bama, Brooks Jensen!” Both men are heated, but who gets burned when this one starts to overflow?

Wendy Choo is here!

The fans cheer the NEW WWE Evolve Women’s Champion! She holds up the belt and smiles from cheek to cheek as she goes to the ring. The fans cheer “Wendy~! Wendy~!” as she steps inside, and again holds up the belt in the spotlight. Wendy gets the mic to say, “Bro…! Who woulda thought? I can’t believe it!” The fans cheer, and Wendy says just a few months ago, she was in therapy, trying to find out who she was. And then, she still didn’t find it. But last week, she definitely found herself, because she was the survivor of the Gauntlet Eliminator and became your Evolve Women’s Champion! The fans cheer that, too!

Wendy says to call her #ChampChoo. The fans chant “CHAMP CHOO! CHAMP CHOO!” Wendy says in all seriousness, this is where the work truly begins. And she’s gonna be honest, that women’s locker room is hungrier than ever. She will keep her promise to be a fighting champion. And so, she spoke with Foreman Thatcher, and they agreed that Wendy gets to choose her very first opponent. And she’ll choose someone special. She wants someone who had a very similar path as hers. Someone who has been grinding on the indies for over a decade! Someone who has worked their behind off just to step into a WWE ring.

Wendy wants her very first opponent to be Laynie Luck! And with that, the WWE Women’s ID Champion makes her way out! The fans cheer as Laynie is shocked and excited! She jumps into the ring, gets herself a mic, and says first of all, congrats. Wendy has earned this! And not to lie, she’s shocked, taken by surprise, but mostly, she is honored. Laynie is honored, because Wendy’s first defense? That’s huge! And maybe Laynie’s luck is turning around. Because after getting betrayed by Sloane Jacobs and eliminated from the Gauntlet Eliminator, she didn’t think she’d get an opportunity any time soon! Let alone- Wait, Nikkita Lyons is interrupting!

The fans are torn as #BigKatKita has a mic already to say okay, enough with the luck and the opportunities! Rawr. Wendy, you got lucky last week by beating Lyons with a roll-up. Lyons literally beat Tyra, Kali AND PJ in one match. So if anybody should be the first challenger, it should be none other than Big Kat Kita~! Now, she’s been doing some deep diving meditation in the grass, receiving divine messages, cuz y’know, she’s a #DivineFeline, and both Wendy and Laynie are outta luck. Wait, now Sloane Jacobs is interrupting! But she just CLOBBERS Laynie from outta nowhere! Lyons DECKS Wendy, and the fans boo as the beatdown commences!

Sloane stands Laynie up while Wendy shoves Lyons away. Laynie dodges a shot, she ROLLING ELBOWS Sloane while Wendy ROCKS Lyons! Lyons rebounds, but Wendy ducks a kick, and with Laynie, they DOUBLE SUPERKICK Lyons! Sloane stands up, only for Laynie & Wendy to DOUBLE LARIAT her up and out! The fans cheer as Wendy & Laynie stand tall! Will they have to clear out their common enemies before they can have their title match?

Romeo Moreno speaks.

“Wrestling is not just a sport, not just a competition. Wrestling is art. Like any artist, I seek inspiration when I enter the ring. I’m gonna create moments. I’m gonna create opportunities. I’m gonna create my legacy. Creating like this in my own way, with my own style, freestyle, a style that honors my Spanish culture. Everything of mine remains in its purest form, and creates like no one has created. My name is Romeo Moreno, and Evolve is my canvas, because yes, it can be done!” What masterpiece will Moreno create now that he’s ready to Evolve?

Kam Hendrix & Harley Riggins VS Tate Wilder & Luca Crusifino!

While Team PC may be no more, the remnants still think they’re the big men on campus. But will Showtime and Gnarly Harley continue to bully and beat down the Modern Day Cowboy and this new “good vibes” side of the Legal Eagle? Or will Evolve be both Wilder and “Crusing” at the same time?

Well speaking of wild, Wilder & Luca attack Kam & Harley! The fans fire up as they get their payback already! Luca stomps Harley, Wilder CLUBS and KNEES Kam, but Kam hits back! The ref reprimands, but Harley TOSSES Luca into the ring! Harley & Kam mug Tate, whip him at the ring, but Luca is there to give Tate the push back for a DOUBLE LARIAT! Then Luca builds speed, Tate opens the way, and Luca DIVES! Down goes Kam, but then Tate ASAI MOONSAULTS Harley! The fans fire up but more refs rush out here, and even producers! Luca stomps away on Kam, fans want to “Let Them Fight!” and Tate puts Harley in the ring.

The fans fire up as the bell rings, and Tate LARIATS Harley in a corner! Then whips him back in, runs, and LEAPING LARIATS! The fans fire up while Tate covers, TWO! Tate keeps Harley down while Evolve goes to break.

Evolve returns as Kam argues with Luca, the ref has Luca back off, but this lets Harley SHOVE Tate into Kam’s sucker punch! Then Harley CLOBBERS Tate! The fans boo, but Kam drags Tate into the corner, and Harley fires off fists and stomps! The fans boo, but Kam & Hendrix get away with it. Kam tags in, he and Harley mug Tate again, but Kam stops as the ref counts. Kam tags Harley back in, and the mugging continues. Harley brings Tate around, whips him to ropes, then CLUBS him on the back! Tate hobbles away but Harley brings him around for a whip into the corner. Harley UPPERCUTS Tate, tags Kam, and Harley feeds Tate to the LARIAT!

Harley runs to add a basement DROPKICK! Cover, TWO! Kam stomps Tate for toughing it out, then CLUBS him down! Kam CLUBS Tate again, then watches him stagger around. Tate SHOVES Kam down! Kam comes back to CLOBBER Tate! Kam rains down fists, stomps him, then snarls. The fans boo but Kam stands Tate up. Kam BLINDSIDE LARIATS! Kam SLAPS Luca, too! The fans boo but Kam drags Tate up. Kam talks more trash, then winds up, but Tate ducks! Then Tate BLINDSIDE LARIATS Kam! The fans fire up while both men crawl! Hot tag to Harley, then he THROWS Tate down! The fans boo but Luca avoids a cheap shot.

Harley talks trash, “This is MY house!” Harley clamps onto Tate, grinds him down, then stomps him. Harley goes back to the chinlock but the fans rally for Tate. Tate fights up, but Harley THROWS him down! Harley talks trash again, then kicks Tate around. Harley clamps on, squeezes tight, and he grinds Tate down. Tate endures, fights up, and the fans rally as Tate rises up. Tate fires body shots, but Harley grinds the bad arm! The fans rally as Tate endures again. Tate fights up, even as Harley puts on the pressure. Tate fires forearms, reaches out, and repeat, but Kam YANKS Luca down! Tate DECKS Harley, but has no tag!

Harley CLOBBERS Tate again! The fans boo but Harley rains down fists! Harley tags Kam, but Tate fires body shots! Kam CLUBS Tate, brings him around, then scoops, but Tate slips free! Kam blocks the roll-up to drop a leg on the arm! Kam scoops and SLAMS Tate, then roars! The fans boo but Kam tags Harley. Harley wags his finger, brings Tate up, and scoops for another SLAM! Harley is having fun, and he tags Kam back in. Kam & Harley aim from the corners, then runs up, but Tate dodges! DOUBLE CROSSBODIES take Kam & Harley down! The fans fire up as Tate dodges them both, hot tag to Luca!

The fans fire up as Luca fires haymakers on Harley & Kam! UPPERCUT in a corner, UPPERCUT in another, and repeat! Luca rolls, mocks Kam’s pose, then CLOBBERS him! The fans fire up as Luca gives Harley a CODE BREAKAER! But Kam hits the SHOWTIME KICK! Kam then runs up to LARIAT in the corner! And LARIAT again! Tate sneaks the tag as Kam comes back, Luca SUPERKICKS! Tate is up top, WILD RIDE MOONSAULT! Cover, Harley breaks it! Luca BOOTS Harley, then runs up, but Harley TOSSES Luca up and out! Kam tags Harley, but Tate dodges to DECK Harley! And CLOBBER him!

Tate ducks ‘n’ dodges to CLOBBER Harley again! The fans fire up as Tate wrenches and facelocks, but Harley fights the suplex! Harley wrenches and RIDGE HANDS Tate! Tag back to Kam, DOUBLE BACK- NO, Tate lands out! Luca sneaks the tag, Tate kicks Harley while Luca SLINGSHOT TACKLES Kam! Tate has Harley in the ropes, but the ref separates them! Harley HOTSHOTS Luca! Kam hits the LIGHTS, KAMERA, ACTION!! Cover, Harley & Kam win!

Winners: Kam Hendrix & Harley Riggins, by pinfall

They may be bullies, but they’re also a team, unified in attitude and style. Will Kam & Harley continue to do what they want to who they want and when they want? Or can Tate & Luca find a way to evolve their teamwork?

Harlem Lewis speaks.

“It’s been clear since the moment I came back to Evolve that there’s one goal, one target: The Evolve Championship. And it didn’t if it was Jackson Drake and it doesn’t matter now that it’s Aaron Rourke. See, Aaron, I’ve got nothing bad to say about you. You’ve shown perseverance, you’ve overcome a lot just to become a champion. But my path to the Evolve Championship has never been a direct line. But now Braxton Cole has forced his way into this match, so next week, it’ll be a Triple Threat. And Braxton just tells me everything I need to know about you. You’re privileged, you’re used to getting whatever you want.

“But you can’t talk your way into winning the championship, and you can’t buy your way into winning the title. See, people like you, they just set something off in me I can barely control. I grew up with a single mom working 14 hour shifts, just to keep the lights on. I grew up raising my two little brothers, making sure that they were fed, walking them to school, putting clothes on their bodies. I was mopping flows and mowing laws, just to help my family survive. But that’s something you wouldn’t know about. Maybe that’s why sometimes I come off a little bit aggressive. But it’s what fuels me. I have to be champion.

“Next week, since it’s a Triple Threat, I’ve got two chances to win, I’ve got two targets, and when the bell rings, everyone will here, ‘And NEW…'” Will the Long Island Jackhammer break through to that next level and bring home the gold?

Kali Armstrong VS Layla Diggs w/ Masyn Holiday!

The Pride of Inglewood fell short in the Gauntlet Eliminator, but she’s looking to shift gears and pick up speed. Will there be another Kali Connection on the way back to the title? Or will Layla dig deep and win against the inaugural WWE Evolve Women’s Champion?

The bell rings and Kali rushes Layla! Kali picks Layla up but Layla manages to sunset flip through! Kali stays up, then drops down on Layla for ground ‘n’ pound! Masyn coaches Layla but Kali tells her to shut up. Kali THROWS Layla to a corner, RAMS her again and again, then backs off to build speed! Kali RAMS Layla again! The fans fire up while Kali eggs Layla on. Kali then runs Around the World to BOOT WASH! Cover, TWO! Kali JABS Layla, JABS again, then winds up, but Layla ducks under to roll Kali up! TWO, but Layla rolls Kali with a bridge, TWO! Kali swings, Layla handsprings through and PELES! Cover, TWO!

The fans rally up as Layla ELBOW DROPS then LEG DROPS! Layla drags Kali into place, goes up the corner, and MOONSAULTS, but onto knees! Kali turns things around and fires up! Kali builds up speed, KALI CONNECTION!! Cover, Kali wins!

Winners: Kali Armstrong, by pinfall

Layla tried but she could not keep up with the track star! Kali then gets a mic to call out Tyra Mae Steele! She knows Tyra’s back there! Get out here! The fans cheer as Miss America shows up! Tyra says if Kali’s got something to say, say it to her face! Thatcher storms out here and shouts that we are NOT doing this like this! There’s already been pandemonium out here, we don’t need more refs rushing out here, their job’s hard enough as it is. And these two are better anyway. The fans want to “Let Them Fight!” but Thatcher says no! Tyra and Kali are world class athletes, they’re better than this, so they’ll do this in a proper match, next week!

The fans cheer, because at least it means this is happening! Will Kali or Tyra prove they are the true alpha female of Evolve?

Braxton Cole speaks.

“Harlem Lewis is set off because he thinks that I am privileged. I wouldn’t call it privileged. Yeah, I grew up eating lobster, wore designer brands, and went to the best private schools in the country. And sure, I had a driver who’d drive me to school, and when I didn’t want him anymore, I had a brand new car sitting in my driveway for me. But when you live like this, there are expectations that you are supposed to live up to. And where Harlem Lewis is from, well, no one is expected to do anything special. Harlem’s claim fame is that he got signed to a WWE contract. Beyond that is simply just a bonus for him.

“I got signed with the expectation that I am supposed to be one of the biggest superstars of the next generation. Anything less than success from me is a failure, and that is the Ivy League standard of excellence, a different kind of pressure. One that I know Harlem Lewis doesn’t understand. Honestly, Aaron Rourke, too. I am what makes the perfect superstar: The body, the athleticism, the charisma, the intelligence. I am the one that will be on the banner of WrestleMania one day. And that is exactly why I will become the Evolve Champion next week.”

Tate Wilder speaks.

“Kam and Harley, tonight was not the exclamation point you thought it was, and this is far from over. I guess I should put this on myself, because I should’ve known that you two would avoid at all costs going chin up with your opponents. You guys just think you’re above everyone. Let’s check some recent history: You pick a fight with the ID guys, and your first instinct was to what? Sneak attack them and lay them out? And just because I don’t help you cheat to win as special guest referee, I’m your next victim? You knock me off my bike? You attack me and Luca before we have our match? You guys are just some real blue chip athletes, aren’t ya?

“If you guys are just so scared, why don’t you just admit it? I think it’s because deep down, you know that when I get my hands on you fairly, I’m gonna whoop your ass, both of you. I’m gonna keep my head on a swivel. Damn sure you two better do the same, cuz this ain’t over until I say it is.”

Aaron Rourke speaks.

“Everyone is talk talk talking about when I put my WWE Evolve Championship against Harlem Lewis and Braxton Cole in a Triple Threat match. Harlem Lewis talks about his anger and where he came from, and Braxton Cole talks about the pressure that comes with privilege. Oh, please. They think they have what it takes to be champion, but I know I do. So Braxton and Harlem can be bigger, stronger, college athletes, whatever they wanna say. It all drives me to continue carrying this title and to be a champion here in WWE. So next week, both Braxton and Harlem can figure out why I always stay clocked in. Period.”

Bull Rope Match: Brooks Jensen VS Cappuccino Jones!

The second-ever Bull Rope Match for Evolve, and the Lost Cause has been in both of them! He lost the first to Tate Wilder, but he vows to turn his luck around here tonight. Will the Bad Man from Ala-Bam-Bam-Bam-Bama be feeling real good with a win? Or will the pot be hot and help Cap rise up the ranks?

In the VIP Lounge, we see Jacari Ball, Santi Rivera, and… Max Abrams? Main Man Energy is hanging out with the guys that beat him and Lince Dorado last week? The big fight introductions are made, but then Jensen CLOBBERS Jones before they can strap in! The ref reprimands while the fans boo, but Jensen rains down rope-wrapped punches! Jensen finally backs off so he can strap in, then he gathers up the slack. The bell rings, and Jensen DECKS Jones! Jensen stomps away on Jones in the corner, then talks trash. Jones fires body shots but Jensen CLUBS him down! Jensen GAGS and CHOKES Jones with the rope!

Jensen stomps Jones at the ropes, then picks up the cowbell. Jones stands, but he ducks the bell to fire haymakers! The fans cheer, but Jensen KNEES low! Jensen untangles himself from the rope to pick up the cowbell, but Jones DROPKICKS him first! Jones DECKS Jensen with a rope-wrapped punch now! Jensen tumbles out, but Jones looks to reel him in using the rope! Jensen resists and it’s a tug-o-war! Jones lets momentum take him so he can DIVE onto Jensen! The fans fire up as Jones takes Jensen down, then rips his shirt off! Jones keeps on Jensen with fast hands, then a BODY BLOW! The fans rally as Jones then CHOPS Jensen against railing!

Jensen CHOPS back, but Jones ROCKS Jensen! Jensen stumbles and tumbles, then RAMS Jones low. Jensen whips, Jones stops short of the steps, then he dodges the cowbell! Jensen’s hands jam, but then DOUBLE LARIATS take both men down! The fans rally while Jensen and Jones crawl. But Jensen is going under the ring? And then he uses the ropes to drag Jones along with him! Jensen pops out the other side, drags Jones back out, then stomps him! ROPE PUNCH! And ROPE PUNCH! Jensen taunts Max that he put him down once, now he’s beating up his best friend! Max says don’t come at the Main Man like that!

Jensen goes back to Jones, but Jones BODY BLOWS! Jones ROCKS Jensen, but Jensen kicks low. Jensen THROWS Jones over railing, but Jones lands safe! Jones ROCKS Jensen, then FLYING LARIATS! Down goes Jensen and Max is just as pumped up as Evolve goes to break!

Evolve returns once more and Jones has Jensen back in the ring. Jones stands Jensen up, turns him, and hits a NECKBREAKER! Cover, TWO! Jensen survives but Jones stomps him around. Jones goes up a corner, but Jensen YANKS him down using the bull rope! Jones HOTSHOTS off the top rope and even Santi & Jacari are stunned! The ref checks Jones, and Jensen takes off his own boot?! BOOT SMASH and down goes Jones! The fans boo but No Disqualifications means nothing can stop Jensen’s unorthodox attacks. Jensen pushes Jones out of the ring, then goes around the corner. Jensen exposes a crossbar!

Jones resists as Jensen tries to yank him into the post! The fans rally, Jones YANKS back and Jensen hits POST! Then Jones SLAMS Jensen’s arm into the post! And SLAMS it again! And again! Then Jones uses the cowbell to CRACK Jensen’s arm! Jensen clutches his elbow, begs for mercy, but both men get in the ring. Jones throws hands, JABS, and he backs Jensen into a corner. Jensen ELBOWS Jones away with the good arm, then goes up. But Jones YANKS Jensen back down, returning the favor! The fans cheer and Jones runs up, DROPKICK in the corner! The fans cheer and Max is now the Main Corner Man as he cheers!

Jones runs up, LARIATS in the corner, then climbs, CROSSBODY! Cover, TWO! Jensen survives but the fans rally for Jones. Jensen crawls to the ropes but Jones stands on his foot! Jensen wants mercy, but Jones SMASHES the bare foot with the cowbell! Jensen hobbles, swings, but the cowbell blocks the punch! O’Conner with a bridge, TWO! Jensen escapes, he guzels Jones, but Jones breaks free! Jensen switches hands, but Jones slips free to FUJIWARA ARMBAR!! Jensen flails, reaches out, but manages to roll Jones to a cover, TWO! FUJIWARA ARMBAR!! With bent fingers! Jensen endures, and he CLAWS Jones’ face!

The fans boo as Jones flails blindly! Jensen slaps his bad arm into working, then BOOTS Jones! Jensen waistlocks, but Jones elbows free! Jensen ROCKS Jones, Jones JABS, repeat! The fans chant “BAM! BAM! BAM!” with every punch! Jensen then throat chops, and he uses the rope to turn Jones, and HANGING GORY SLEEPER!! Jones endures, fights, and he kicks off the corner to go up and over! DDT! The fans fire up again and Jones goes to a corner. Jones goes up again, and he FROGGY- NO! Jensen dodges the elbow drop! SKY HIGH! Cover, TWO!! Jones survives and Jensen is furious as he untangles the ropes.

Jensen goes outside, goes looking under the ring, and he brings out a TABLE! The fans are torn, they love tables but hate that Jensen is bringing it in. But Jones BOOTS Jensen! Jones kicks and kicks but Jensen kicks back! Jensen hobbles, he ROCKS Jones, then he picks up the table. Jensen CLUBS Jones while he works on the table. Jensen stands it up, positions it just right, and he brings Jones up. Jones throws hands, Jensen ROCKS Jensen! Jensen puts Jones on the table, Max shouts for him to get up, but Jensen is the one climbing! But wait, Jones is right up after him! The fans fire up for the SUPERPLEX DOWN THROUGH THE TABLE!!

The fans are loving this as these two just snapped into that Slim Jim table! Jensen and Jones roll away from the wreckage, and go to opposite ends of the ring. They crawl, but Jensen reaches the cowbell first! But Max stands on the bell! Main Man Energy says no you don’t, buddy! Max picks up the bell, and says this is HIS time! COWBELL SHOT ON JONES?!? Jensen is as surprised as anyone, but he covers Jones! Jensen wins!!!

Winner: Brooks Jensen, by pinfall

Santi and Jacari are speechless but the fans boo as Max turns on his fellow WWE ID Prospect! And then Max stomps away on Jones! Has all that Main Man Energy gone to his head? But then Jacari & Santi get in the ring to back Max off! The fans cheer, until Max and the gym bros all smile! They all beat Jones up together!! The fans boo as It’s Gal is here to chant, “This is Awesome!” He loves seeing Max, Jacari & Santi standing together as studs! Gal tells Jones that this is what he gets, but then CJ VALOR CLOBBERS Gal outta nowhere!! Is CJ one of the Main Man’s men?! Max says it is THEIR time! Is WWE ID Generation 2 about to take over by force?

My Thoughts:

A very good Evolve, and I like how things are moving forward in this new chapter. Very good promo from Wendy and of course Heels had a problem with her choosing someone as her challenger. Good brawl from Wendy & Laynie with Lyons & Sloane. They’ll have a very good tag match, and I would think the Faces win out. A friendly match between the WWE Evolve Women’s Champion and the WWE ID Women’s Champion will be a lot of fun, can’t wait to see how it goes. And great promos from the men in next week’s Triple Threat. I would think Rourke retains by using Harlem and Braxton against each other, and maybe we get a proper 1v1 match at a later date.

Kali squashing Layla felt like deja vu, but good stuff with her and Tyra wanting after each other. We’ll get a great match out of them next week, but I feel like Tyra wins out since Kali is already becoming part of NXT. Very good stuff with Tate & Luca VS Kam & Harley, but I suppose it makes sense for the Heels to win here. We didn’t get as much of Luca and his new move set as I would’ve liked, though. Good promo from Tate to warn Kam & Harley, too. Very good promo from Romeo Moreno to hype his next match. I’m sure he’ll win, but who knows what first real rivalry he’ll be in.

Great main event, though not quite as violent as you’d think since this is just Evolve. Max Abrams getting involved was suspicious, so kudos to them pulling the trigger on his Heel turn. He’s even leading a new Heel faction to fill the void that was Vanity Project. And maybe with Gal being attacked, Gal is turning Face to join forces with Jones against them? Face Gal is gonna be interesting, but I’m here for it.

My Score: 8.7/10

Who runs the Gauntlet Eliminator?

The WWE Evolve Women’s Championship is up for grabs in Evolve’s first-ever Gauntlet Eliminator! Who defies the odds to win the jackpot?

OFFICIAL RESULTS

  • Mike Cunningham (now Max Abrams) & Lince Dorado VS Jacari Ball & Santi Rivera w/ It’s Gal; Jacari & Santi win.
  • Dorian Van Dux VS Kai Kavari; DVD wins.
  • Vacant WWE Evolve Women’s Championship Gauntlet Eliminator: Wendy Choo wins and is the new WWE Evolve Women’s Champion.

PLAY BY PLAY

Karmen Petrovic speaks.

“With the new Evolve Women’s Championship being crowned tonight, you know I had to join this Gauntlet Eliminator match. But with gauntlets, if you’re not ready, it’ll devour you. Tonight, we have a stacked line-up: Laynie Luck, who has proven herself as ID Champion; veterans like Wendy Choo know exactly what it takes to survive a battle like this; Nikkita Lyons, who has been fighting for the spotlight; Kali Armstrong is one of the hardest hitters Evolve has ever seen; and fresh faces like Tyra Mae Steele, PJ Vasa, and a new WWE ID Prospect (Sloane Jacobs) know that a win tonight can change the entire trajectory of their career.

“Now, we all know opportunities like this don’t come around often, but for Karmen Petrovic, this is where I thrive. Cuz after all, they don’t call me the Gold Blooded for nothing.” But will Karmen outlast seven other stars to finally have some gold around her waist?

Aaron Rourke is here!

The fans cheer as The Dime Piece, the Evolve Champion, makes his way out to the ring, swaggering to a new theme to commemorate the new era. Rourke poses with the belt, then grabs a mic to say, “Hello, everyone. It’s so good to see all of you. Y’know, when I started at my wrestling school, Create-A-Pro Wrestling Academy, all I ever heard was that it takes effort to get to the top, but it takes consistency to stay there. You knew, you knew. And honestly, I thought I understood what that meant, but now I really, really understand that phrase, now that I’ve had my raised after beating Chazz ‘Starboy’ Hall.” The fans applaud that!

Rourke wants us to understand, Starboy is an amazing competitor, and no doubt he will be back for this belt again. But y’know, this belt is just a little heavy in weight, but a lot in responsibility. Because as Evolve Champion, you have to be consistent. You have to consistently show that you are the best in this ring so that when someone turns on Evolve and sees a competitor, a champion, defending this night after night, they can be proud! They can text their friends and say, “Hey, are you watching Evolve right now? Tehre’s some of the best wrestling happening in the world there! And their champion, Aaron Rourke, busts his ass every single time he’s in this ring!”

The fans cheer again, and Rourke says he has a real problem with a certain guy walking around that Rourke’s ducking him. Harlem Lewis… Yes, sorry for mentioning him. Harlem, you may be big and you may be tough, but walk out here and say to his face how Rourke is “ducking” him! The fans like that, and here comes Harlem! Harlem says the champ’s fired up! Harlem likes that! Harlem could get in the ring and break Rourke right now. But he won’t do that, because that’d juts prolong what he wants. And if Rourke can’t be honest, then Harlem will, because the truth hurts. And the truth is, Rourke IS ducking him!

Rourke is ducking Harlem because he knows the second they have their match, Rourke’s reign is over! Rourke laughs at that, and tells Harlem they could have the match right now! But wait, Braxton Cole interrupts! The Privileged One says hold on, champ! Braxton respects that Rourke runs Evolve right now, that is great. But Harlem… Braxton also likes what he had to say, and agrees that the clock is running out on Rourke already. But it isn’t Harlem who takes the title from him. No, no, no, it’ll be Braxton Cole! The fans boo as Braxton steps into the ring, saying he is the one with the championship pedigree. He is the superstar worthy to take Rourke down.

And Braxton is the man who possesses the gifts and the qualities to lead the WWE in the right direction. He is the guy- Rourke interrupts by saying, “Who needs to shut the hell up!” The fans cheer, and Rourke tells Braxton that he has the looks, of a guy everyone wants to punch in the face. And don’t think Rourke forgot what Braxton did to Rourke’s friend, Marcus Mathers. So Rourke is thinking that he has no problem making this a Triple Threat so he can beat the both of them! Harlem gets angry and says this isn’t about Braxton! This is about Harlem and that title! Rourke’s making this a Triple Threat cuz he’s scared!

But as Harlem gets in Rourke’s face about that, Braxton CLOBBERS Harlem into Rourke! The fans boo but Braxton stands Harlem up to LARIAT him down! Then he TOSSES Harlem out! Braxton fireman’s carries Rourke for the BLUE CHIP SLAM! The fans boo but Braxton grins as he stands tall with the title. Will Braxton use that silver spoon to scoop up the gold? Or will the Dime Piece make him pay for this?

Tristan Angels speaks.

“For seven generations, my family has tilled the land on a small sheep farm in Dorset, England. But that ends with me. At the age of 22, I am not only one of the best wrestlers Europe has ever produced, but in 2024, I was given the prestigious title of Mister England! Now that makes me officially the most handsome man n England, and therefore, the entire world. But please, do not let my success and international beauty pageant glory have you fooled, for I am as tough as a pig’s foot! And I will strip Evolve of all its glory by any means necessary! Rejoice! Tristan Angels has arrived!”

Mike Cunningham & Lince Dorado VS Jacari Ball & Santi Rivera w/ It’s Gal!

Main Man Mike has been learning a lot from the Golden Lynx, but now they’re both looking to teach The Gal Pals a thing or two about respect. But will the combination of #MainManEnergy and #Purrfection get Evolve #LuchaLit? Or will the gym bros prove their muscles aren’t just for show?

Before the match, Mike has the mic to say, “Whoa! First of all, ladies with gentle hands… I have a new name. A name filled with Main Man Energy. A name that should be on billboards! Should be on Muscle Fitness magazines! It should be in the lights! This name yells MME louder than the ladies already do. My name is… MAX ABRAMS!” So Max gets a new tron, though it isn’t quite the same as when it was for Mike. But will it be #MainManEnergy to the max tonight? We find out, after the break.

Max holds the ropes open, Lince DIVES through the five hole! The fans fire up for the cannonball tope and Lince puts Santi in! Lince goes up, up, and CROSSBODIES! Cover, TWO! Santi survives, but ends up in an ARMBAR! Max is on defense against Gal & Jacari, but Jacari SHOVES Max down! The fans boo but Jacari ROCKS Max! Jacari TOSSES Max, then DROPKICKS him off the apron! Atomic drop into the SLINGBLADE! Cover, TWO!!

The fans fire up as Lince survives! Gal coaches his guys, and Santi brings Lince up. Tag to Jacari, they double suplex, but Lince fights to a DOUBLE DDT! Lince huffs ‘n’ puffs and hurries to put Santi in the drop zone. Lince climbs up the corner, and Max tags himself in! But that trips Lince up, too! The ref says that doesn’t count as a tag?! The fans can’t believe it! Jacari YANKS Max down, but Lince GAMANGIRIS Gal! Santi reels Lince in and rolls him up, GYM BROS WIN!!

Winners: Santi Rivera & Jacari Ball, by pinfall

Lince and Max are both shocked! How did their combo lose out after doing so well? Will they be able to figure out where things went wrong? Or will the Gal Pals leave them behind in the dust?

It wasn’t as fast paced as the Speed match, but it was still pretty quick work for Dorian. Will DVD continue to climb the ranks here in Evolve?

Brooks Jensen speaks.

“Cappuccino Jones, what were you trying to accomplish last week? You thought by jumping me, you were gonna frighten me? Scare me? No, no, no, no. I’ve had these thoughts pop in my head, and in these thoughts, it was the lsat battle of Cappuccino Jones VS Brooks Jensen. And yet in this, there was no DQ, no count outs, no running away. Cuz me and you, we were connected. Not by wrestling, but by a rope. A rope that holds a painful cowbell in the middle. So I went to The Foreman, and I got it made official. Next week, my thoughts become your reality when it’s Cappuccino Jones VS The Bad Man that hails from Ala-Bam-Bam-Bam-Bama, in a bull rope match!”

The Lost Cause is bringing back his favorite match type, but will he wrangle Jones like a rodeo star? Or will Cappuccino roast Jensen at his own game?

Winner: Wendy Choo, by pinfall (NEW WWE Evolve Women’s Champion)

Lyons is shocked, but the fans love this for Wendy! For the first time in her WWE career, Wendy can say she is a champion! Foreman Thatcher walks out here and makes it official as he hands the title to Wendy. Will the Queen of New York prove she’s the Queen of Evolve?

My Thoughts:

A great episode for Evolve here, though obviously a lot of that has to do with the Gauntlet Eliminator main event and Wendy Choo finally having a title. It was definitely a surprise given PJ Vasa has been on a roll, but perhaps it was too obvious for Vasa to win if she was coming in last. Vasa and Wendy can feud over the title as we move into the Spring/Summer stretch of Evolve, and that’ll be a very strong cornerstone for Evolve. Kali seems to be moving into a feud with Tyra Mae Steele now after the typical “miscommunication creates anger” spot. Lyons getting to be runner-up is a great spot for her, too, she can certainly make a run at the title during Wendy’s reign.

Good match from DVD VS Kai, very dominant win for DVD. They are certainly taking an organic path for DVD to build himself up and perhaps be in line for his own title shot after Rourke’s reign. Rourke had a good promo with Harlem, and a little surprised Braxton got in on this. The Triple Threat likely gives Rourke a way to win while keeping Harlem and Braxton strong in defeat, aka he uses them against each other. Good promo from Jensen, and he of course wants another bull rope match. Jensen lost the first to Harlem, will he win this one against Jones?

And good stuff in the opener from the now Max Abrams and Lince Dorado. Mike/Max is continuing his own take on the passive aggressive Face who is really more a Heel, and I could see another loss make Mike turn on Lince. The tron being poor quality was also a good bit of meta, like this was somehow very sudden and the production team had little time to do more than that for him.

My Score: 8.7/10
