Carol: Is NXT at War With RAW and SmackDown?

Last week, NXT made its debut on the USA Network and became a massive hit. The one-hour show scored over one million in the ratings and it was the talk of social media as fans praised NXT for putting on amazing matches.

NXT’s premiere was a huge success and many feel that they’ll be big competition in the Wednesday Night Wars against AEW.

For the past several weeks everyone’s been talking about the war between NXT and AEW. Of course, this is the biggest feud and story among the wrestling community. But there could be another war brewing for NXT, and this one involves the main roster.

In a promo for NXT is touting itself as the “No B.S. show.” Of course, one can interpret this as Triple H taking another shot at Cody Rhodes and co. But many fans believe that this was a direct shot to RAW and SmackDown.

So could Triple H be sending a message to his father-in-law Vince McMahon?

RAW and SmackDown have been WWE’s flagship shows for the past two decades. In recent months, the shows have seen a decline in ratings and have come under criticism from fans. The problem with RAW and SmackDown is due to Vince’s creative ideas. Vince is in charge of the shows and he has the final say when it comes to storyline decisions.

Some of Vince’s ideas have left fans and journalists scratching their heads. Vince is known to love humor and often incorporates jokes into segments. We’ve seen countless segments of a wrestler wetting his pants, a female superstar suffering from flatulence, and who can forget the Ucey Hot with The Revival.

Vince’s childish humor along with his habit of repeating matches and burying superstars is being blamed for WWE’s decline.

Meanwhile, NXT continues to be a hit with WWE fans. Triple H has been praised by fans and journalists for the way he books shows and develops the newer talent. If you were to ask WWE fans which show they enjoy watching, odds are a majority of them would say NXT.

Triple H is going to take over when Vince decides to step down. But it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen anytime soon. In recent months, there’s been reports of Triple H being unhappy with the way Vince runs the shows and how the NXT talent are treated on the main roster.

It wouldn’t be surprising if Triple H was taking a jab at Vince during the NXT promo. With NXT now on cable network, many wonder if it’ll have an effect on RAW and SmackDown. While the red and blue brands have improved their storylines in the past few months, viewership is still uneven.

NXT provides fans with plenty of wrestling without long promos or comedy segments, which is a major factor in its success. With NXT giving the fans want they want when it comes to entertainment, RAW and SmackDown will have to up their game.

Triple H has already shown why NXT is on its way to becoming the superior brand. He’s laid down the challenge, now it’s up to Vince and company to prove they have what it takes to make RAW and SmackDown better.
