It’s been a while since I wrote an article. Between being sick and the holidays, things have been hectic at my place. But today, I decided to get back to writing my articles. 2019 is coming to an end and there was a lot of big moments in wrestling this year. Of course we have the AEW vs. NXT war, Cain Velasquez joining WWE, and many historic matches in WWE. For today’s article, I decide to compile a list of what I believe were the biggest moments in wrestling from 2019.

Roman Reigns Returns

In October 2018, Roman Reigns stunned everyone when he announced he was battling leukemia. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as fans became emotional over Roman’s announcement. The entire wrestling community, including critics of Reigns offered their prayers to the star.

A few months later in February 2019, Roman returned to RAW and once again shocked the audience. This time he had positive news when he announced his leukemia was in remission. Everyone celebrated the good news and Roman quickly got back into the ring and reclaiming his yard.

Women’s WrestleMania Main Event

For years, fans have wondered if there’d ever be a WrestleMania main event with the women. WWE is known for their Women’s Revolution and since the female stars have main-evented other PPVs, it’s only fitting that they’d main event WrestleMania.

This year, fans got their wish when they saw the historic Women’s WrestleMania Main Event. The triple match featured Becky Lynch challenging RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey and Smackdown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair in a winner takes all match.

The women gave it their all in this match and fans were on their feet as they watched Lynch, Rousey, and Flair destroy each other. At the end of the match, Lynch was declared the winner and walked away with two titles.

Jon Moxley’s AEW debut

Jon Moxley aka Dean Ambrose was one of the most-talked about wrestlers this year. When news broke in January that he was leaving WWE, speculation ran rampant on whether this was real or a storyline. As the weeks wound down in his contract, it was evident that he was saying goodbye to WWE and they gave him a sendoff with his Shield brothers.

Seconds after his contract with WWE expired, Ambrose broke the internet when he released a video via Twitter announcing his return as Jon Moxley. Fans didn’t have to wait long to find out where Moxley was going. At the AEW PPV Double or Nothing, Moxley made his debut by attacking Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega.

Moxley has once again found his passion for wrestling since leaving WWE. Now, that he’s in AEW, he can shine like the star he is.

Sasha Banks Return

Sasha Banks is one of the top stars of WWE’s women’s division. However, earlier this year, her career was in question. After she and Bayley lost the women’s tag titles at WrestleMania, Sasha took a break. Her absence caused a lot of speculation on whether she was finished with WWE. As weeks passed, rumors began to circulate. Then on the RAW after SummerSlam, Banks returned with a new look and a new heel persona.

As Banks would later reveal, she need a break to clear her mind and regain her passion for wrestling. Sasha’s return is just what WWE needed to strengthen their women’s division and heading into 2020, Banks is bound to have a successful year.
