Being the Elite #184 – The Holiday Special

• Starting off with the big Tag Team match and now we’re having Christmas dinner and the Bucks are sulking.
• Well, it wouldn’t be Christmas without an argument turning into a fight. Also, love the Bucks parodying that waffed punch that everyone wanted to make such a big fucking deal about.
• Looks like we’re at Dynamite and celebrating Christmas. Damn, they work some long ass days. Love them joking about counter-programming.
• They threw SCU out of the house and Daniels is selling the fuck out of that beatdown. Oh, Mrs. Buck brought them in.
• Britt Baker trying to coach Justin Roberts on how to say Michael Nakazawa’s name correctly. Not sure why John Stamos is involved. He won’t say John Cena!!!!
• Merch Freak with a shirt for Roberts and it’s of him saying ‘Jon’ (I’m going to assume that he means Moxley since that’s the only Jon in AEW).
• Hangman is DRUNK! Also, I can get that same shirt from Torrid…just sayin’.  The fuck is he doing? This makes me glad I don’t drink alcohol, though the drunk skateboarding is cool. Leva Bates is the only one willing to put up with him. Uh oh, that’s Riho. Don’t fuck with Omega’s girl.
• Omega being a good bro here.
• Okay, is this the real Christmas party or is their power out? Okay, not the real party, but this is a nice note…right up until Daniels botches it. Kazarian swore! Poor Daniels!
• I like them advertising upcoming shows.
• The fuck is Statlander doing? She’s not an alien, she’s just weird.
• Uh oh, Matt’s got a stinger! The Elites need to get their shit together. Look out AEW, sounds like the Elites are done fucking around. I like that AEW isn’t having this thing where EVPs just make matches whenever they want, everyone’s got a lane.
• Beaver Boys second guessin joining the Dark Order already? That was quick.
• Holy Fuck, what was that? Oh, someone’s got blood on their hands…who is it? Okay, I’m intrigued.

Sammy Guevara vs Brandon Cutler

Guevara not getting much of a pop in his home state. Colt Cabana as guest commentator. Glad Cutler dropped the Damien Demento gear. Hey, Guevara, could you quit posing and start wrestling? Thanks.

This is an okay match. Cutler’s the kind of lovable loser you want to cheer for, but he’s really not that good in the ring and some of his stuff looks a little sloppy. Overall, this match wasn’t terrible, but I can’t say I’d want to see a repeat on Dynamite. I was a little disappointed that we didn’t get a Christmas miracle win for Cutler, but the match wasn’t horrible, guess that’s the best we could’ve hoped for

Private Party vs Best Friends vs Hybrid 2 vs Santana and Ortiz

To be honest, I don’t have high hopes for this match. All the teams are good, but these huge tag matches for no reason always annoy me and they rarely turn out very good.

This match wasn’t terrible, but the prospect of Hybrid 2 and Proud n Powerful teaming up was really interesting, even if it didn’t seem to last that long. Kind of sucks that we didn’t get a four way hug between Best Friends and Private Party. I LOVED the Eddie Guerrero tribute by Santana and Ortiz. Orange Cassidy hiding under the ring on the ladder was…interesting. I’m not surprised that Santana and Ortiz won, I am surprised that they got the pin on Private Party. Better match than I expected.

PAC

Blah, blah, blah, PAC wants a rematch of Kenny Omega’s rematch because he doesn’t like that he lost fair and square, so he beat up Michael Nakazawa to make Omega give him the match he thinks he deserves. PAC punking out wasn’t a shock, but I’m over this feud.

Joey Janela vs Shawn Spears

It’s Jolly Janela vs the Red Grinch. I do give Janela props for coming out in the full suit. How was the match? It was a guy in a Santa suit fighting a guy who thought counting to ten was a good gimmick. Actually, it was a pretty good match for both guys. I can’t say this should’ve been on Dynamite, but it was a good match. Very happy Janela got the win, I don’t think the feud is over, but that was a really good match. Not sure what was up with the creepy guy that looked like a hippie Jesus Christ. Also, love the Stone Cold tribute by Janela (the show was taped on Austin’s birthday).
