Adam’s NWA Championship Review Cabana vs Aldis China 2018

As everyone should know, we are still under heavy quarantine and wrestling has either halted recordings or shows in general or doing what they can to provide entertainment and content for their viewers, whether it’s empty arenas or past recordings. This week for the National Wrestling Alliance, we will go through a historical event between Colt Cabana and Nick Aldis during the champion’s first reign.

Why is it historical? This marked the first time the NWA World Championship was defended in China.

Review:

The show starts off by showing the match between Ellsworth and Aldis in Championship Wrestling in Hollywood and Aldis told he will face Colt Cabana in China back in 2018. Colt goes on by saying that this is an honor to go to Wenzhou and face for the Ten Pounds of Gold. He goes on about how the crowd needs to be behind the competitor and has backings and support from such names as Ricky Morton, Victoria/Tara, Katie Forbes and ODB just to name a few that show their love of “Boom Boom”.Aldis has his quips where he is the top and he needs to get out of his comfort zone and try to take the top from “The National Treasure”.

The match starts of very technical and chain wrestling both on the ground and standing then cuts to an intermission. When it comes back, they are outside of the ring with a very back and forth as Cabana takes the early control. Taking it back to the ring, Aldis pleading for a break only to attempt to sucker Cabana and fail as Colt takes the champ to the corner, goes for a quick cover and applies a hold to weaken Aldis. Nick Aldis switches to the offensive and chops down Colt on the apron and giving him a taste of what he was serving earlier. Aldis finally grounding his challenger decides that it is the end and goes to the top before getting caught by Colt, fighting on the top turnbuckle and Superplexing the champion to the canvas. Another intermission happens and Cabana still in firm control until getting a crossbody caught by Aldis and delivers a middle rope Fallaway Slam to Boom Boom for a two count. After both men apply submissions to each other, Cabana tries to seize the opportunity against Aldis by landing a moonsault but after a lazy pin by Cabana, Aldis countered the pin attempt and retained Sweet Charlotte.

Final Review:

Very nice of NWA to show this match and the interview with the competitors giving us something to watch during this time with the first defense of the NWA World’s Championship in China. A touching rundown from Colt’s perspective and giving the NWA fanbase another monumental match to watch in it’s already impressive history. With all of that being said, NWA will have Super Powerrr next, giving “Lost” Matches that were never aired or special interviews of the wrestlers now.
