WWE shares a special exclusive from Sunday! NXT’s Cruiserweights do battle as El Legado battles Stallion, Grey and Adonis in Six Man action!

NXT Cruiserweight Champion, Santos Escobar, knows The Lonestar is gunning for his gold! But he and his cohorts, Raul Mendoza and Joaquin Wilde, have done their best to scare him off that path. Will Stallion show Legado that he, #RetroAG and “Thee” Adonis aren’t afraid?

The trios stare down in the ring but the ref keeps the peace. The teams sort out and Stallion starts against the champion! Fans fire up for this title sampler, but then Wilde tags in to stop that. Stallion tags to Grey and these two tie up. Grey waistlocks, Wilde moves around but can’t get the switch. Wilde hooks a leg with a leg to trip Grey then lace the legs up. Wilde pulls on the deathlock but Grey slips out of the float and gets a headlock takeover! Grey grinds Wilde but Wilde pulls hair to pop free. Grey hits back and headlocks but Wilde throws him down by his hair. Wilde covers, Grey slips out and things speed up. Grey duck sand dodges to huricanrana! Wilde staggers into a headlock.

Adonis tags in and is on Wilde, but Wilde knees low. Adonis keeps Wilde from Legado, blocks the counter knee to DECK Wilde with a forearm! Adonis rolls and whips Wilde for a FLAPJACK! Fans fire up as Adonis headlocks, but Wilde gets Adonis to the corner. Mendoza tags in, runs but Adonis dodges! Adonis tackles Mendoza into buckles, whips him to ropes but Mendoza reverses. Adonis stops himself, Escobar distracts him and Mendoza clobbers him! Mendoza stomps and CHOPS Adonis in the corner, tags Escobar, and Escobar stomps and CHOPS in turn. Escobar facelocks, throws elbows and knees, then puts Adonis back in the corner. Escobar sucker punches Stallion and Grey!

Escobar returns to clothesline Adonis and tag in Wilde! Wilde clotheslines, tags Mendoza and Mendoza comes back to clothesline! Tag to Escobar and he DOUBLE KNEES Adonis into the corner! BRAIN BUSTER! Escobar tags Mendoza, he and Wilde get in and combine for the hip toss splash! Cover, TWO! Wilde keeps on Adonis with a rain of fists! Wilde drags Adonis up but Adonis tackles him and rains down fists of his own! Adonis lets off but Wilde keeps him from his corner! Wilde back suplexes hard! Cover, TWO! Wilde keeps Adonis down with a chinbar and armlock. The fans rally as Adonis endures. Adonis fights up, throws body shots, then forearms!

Adonis whips, Wilde reverses and CLOBBERS Adonis with the elbow! Tag to Mendoza, Mendoza drags Adonis up and snap suplexes! Tag back to Wilde and Wilde climbs up for a SPLASH! Cover, TWO! Adonis survives and El Legado grows frustrated. Wilde wraps Adonis in a chinbar and armlock but fans rally up. Adonis fights up, throws body shots, but Wilde tackles him to the corner! Adonis throws hands back! Adonis swings around Wilde to hit a DDT! Both men are down and fans fire up! Wilde and Adonis crawl to their corners, hot tags to Mendoza and Stallion! Stallion dodges Mendoza to hit Escobar and Wilde!

Stallion DECKS Wilde, DECKS Mendoza, back again to Wilde then kicks and a ROLLING ELBOW for Mendoza! BOOT in the corner, then a run and DIVE into Mendoza! Stallion is back, HESITATION DROPKICK to Mendoza! Stallion tells him this is for Escobar! He stomps the feet and DDT’s Mendoza! Cover, TWO! Stallion and Escobar glare at each other but Stallion tags Grey. Mendoza shoves Stallion into Grey but Stallion HEADBUTTS back! Wilde gives Stallion a back suplex to BACKBRAEKER! Adonis Air Drops Wilde, Mendoza ENZIGURIS Adonis! Grey tightrope walks and crossbodies! Back suplex but Mendoza escapes! Tag to Escobar, Grey BOOTS Mendoza then throws him out! DROPKICK from Escobar! Butterfly and LEGADO FACEBUSTER! Cover, El Legado wins!

Winners: El Legado del Fantasma, by pinfall

The NXT Cruiserweight Champion wins it for his team, but he avoided his challenger the entire time. Is this a sign he wants nothing to do with Stallion? Or is it that he’s afraid of what will happen when they finally face off?

My Thoughts:

Not a bad match, and I suppose it’s alright for being treated as a TakeOver: WarGames dark match, but why not just wait to include this on NXT tonight? I suppose it’s fine to use social media as an outlet for this match, but I feel like it’d make the story more meaningful if it was included on meaningful programming. And as I said, great detail that Escobar and Stallion never interacted directly. To me, it adds to the perception that Stallion is on a hot streak and that Escobar might not actually be prepared for him. I wonder if their title match is going to be built up even more as “New Year’s Evil” approaches on January 6th, 2021. Wouldn’t be a bad move to make the first NXT of the new year have a new champion.
