Every time you see Devlin in the ring, his title will be on the line! So to any and all the “fools” under 205 Live, test your luck right now! Ashton Smith is hyping Oliver Carter up! This is Carter’s time! Do it for Switzerland! Do it for Ghana! Do it for the family! And do it for yourself! Ready and forward, always forward! But will the Predator Killer be golden against The Irish Ace?

The introductions are made, the belt is raised, and this big opening match begins! Carter and Devlin circle, knuckle lock, but Devlin kicks and CLUBS Carter! Devlin dares Carter to try and take his title! Devlin wrenches, YANKS and CHOPS! Devlin whips but Carter reverses to then tiger wall kick! Carter arm-drags Devlin, jumps over and crossbodies! Cover, ONE, but Carter sunset flips! Devlin sits, Carter slips out and uses a leg to hook Devlin and reel him in! Devlin slips out of the bomb, blocks a kick, and flips Carter into ropes! Carter lands bad and the ref checks on him. Carter is somehow okay, and he eggs Devlin on, but Devlin STOMPS him on the back of the neck! Cover, TWO!

Carter survives but Devlin whips him and CLOBBERS him! Devlin sits Carter up to throw elbows into the neck and shoulders. Carter throws body shots but Devlin DECKS him with one forearm! Devlin stands on Carter’s neck, but stops at the ref’s count. Devlin drags Carter up to scoop and slam! Running leg drop! Cover, TWO! Devlin keeps his cool, drags Carter back into a chinlock and jams an elbow in! Devlin tortures Carter with the chinbar and neck wrench! Carter endures, fights his way up, but Devlin clamps onto the shoulder nerves! Carter continues to endure, fights his way up more, but Devlin knees him low! Devlin brings Carter up but Carter snap suplexes first!

Both men are down as Carter clutches his neck, but Devlin gets pissed. Devlin storms over but Carter kicks him away! Then rallies with SUPER FOREARMS! Carter whips, Devlin reverses but Carter forearms Devlin down again! Carter sweeps the legs but Devlin ducks the shining wizard! Devlin waistlocks but Carter elbows Devlin away! Devlin tumbles out, Carter DIVES and direct hit into barriers! Carter puts Devlin in fast and aims from a corner. Carter runs, misses the shining wizard but gets the MULE KICK! Cover, TWO!! Devlin survives Carter’s boomerang kick, and boots from a corner! Devlin goes up, Carter NO HANDS RANAS! And then BLINDSIDE LARIATS! Cover, TWO!!

Devlin survives but Carter isn’t giving up! Carter hauls Devlin up but Devlin elbows back! Devlin swings, but into the pump handle URENAGE! But Carter’s neck hurts too much, he can’t cover! A standing count begins, and Carter is up at 6. Devlin is in a corner, Carter runs in to WINDMILL KICK! Carter manages to Electric Chair lift but Devlin fights out to POISON-RANA!! Carter flounders in a daze, but Devlin finishes him off with DEVLINSIDE! Cover, Devlin wins!

Carter gave such a strong fight, even after taking that damage to his neck! But that was certainly a factor against Devlin, and the gold stays with the Ace! Will Devlin make this just the first of many wins in his ongoing Open Challenge?

NXT UK presents the premiere of Supernova Sessions!

Quite the musical intro as we join Noam Dar on the set for this first ever episode. Dar promises the fans that this will be a timeless classic, and he will be solely responsible for making TV history by asking what everyone else is too scared to say. Dar is the true star player in NXT UK, and he will prove there are levels to this game, with him at the tip top. “It is bloody wonderful being me.”

But for his first guest, the first ever NXT UK Heritage Cup Champion, A-Kid! The Spanish Ace and the Heritage Cup itself walk on set and while Dar lounges on the couch, A-Kid is left with the folding chair. Obviously you’d expect it to be the other way around but this is Dar’s show so… But that aside, Dar welcomes AK with “Bonjour. Hable Ingles?” Yes, AK speaks English. He probably speaks it better than Dar does. But AK says he’s happy being here, having beaten Dar in the tournament. That’s why Dar wanted AK to be his guest! Dar wants to clear up the misconception that these two are rivals, enemies, when it’s the exact opposite. Oh, there’s some beer nuts if you want to go with your water.

But as he was saying, Dar and A-Kid aren’t rivals. Dar took AK in and mentored him, his “sensei” if you will. And it’s thanks to Dar that AK has the Heritage Cup. But, as a generous teacher, Dar has another gift. From now on, he won’t just be “A-Kid,” no. Dar officially says he is now “A-Man!” So A-Man, go ahead and thank Dar-sensei. No, you’re not his sensei, friend or anything. It’s all very disrespectful to those who actually did help AK get here. If anyone is AK’s mentor, it is Tyler Bate, who taught him everything he needed to know to get here. Dar says Bate’s “a dafty,” and asks who Bate ever beat. Bate’s a has-been! Wait, Tyler Bate is here in person! Dar does his best to applaud Bate but Bate shakes AK’s hand. The Big Strong Boi, not a bad nickname. Is that what Seven calls him when he’s eaten all his veggies? No, it’s what Bate’s mom calls him. But Bate congratulates AK on winning the Heritage Cup. AK’s a tremendous wrestler, and the cup looks great with him, but Bate wishes he was able to have been in that tournament. Dar says those are “fighting words.” Is Bate implying he would’ve won the tournament instead? AK doesn’t even really speak good English but that’s what Bate said. Bate says Dar is putting words in his mouth. No, Bate is putting words in Bate’s mouth.

But if that’s how Bate wants to say it, then maybe they should have a match to prove who is better. Dar can even talk with Johnny Saint! Bate and AK are okay with that. Dar looks forward to seeing them beat the crap out of each other. In the spirit of good competition of course. And so there you have it! Episode one of the Supernova Sessions is in the books! This is the place to be, this is must-see TV, good-bye! Are we going to see A-Kid VS Bate tonight? Will the student surpass the mentor?

The Hunt barges into Sid Scala’s office!

Eddie Dennis is with them and he has a pop quiz for the Assistant GM. Who were the previous NXT UK Tag Team Champions? Time’s up, it was Flash Morgan Webster and Mark Andrews! Question two: who just beat them last week? Time’s up, it was The Hunt! Question three: What is Sid going to do about that? Primate answers that, saying The Hunt are now #1 contender’s. Gallus are fighting champions, Sid will talk with Johnny Saint, and they’ll see what they can do. You do that. Dennis and the Hunt head out, but will they be given the prize they want?

Xia Brookside VS Isla Dawn!

With Kay Lee Ray still NXT UK Women’s Champion, and even with Jinny wanting to take that throne, the next title opportunity is still up in the air! Will one of these bright and rising stars be on the heels of the Scary Queen of Scots?

The bell rings and the two circle. They tie up, go around, and Dawn gets an arm to wrench to a wristlock. Brookside rolls, handsprings and wrenches back to a wristlock of her own! Brookside cranks on the wrist again and again and again! Dawn rolls, gets up but Brookside wrangles her back down! Dawn gets up, spins through and arm-drags, but Brookside holds on to crank the arm to a hammerlock! Dawn gets up and reaches back to then spin through. Dawn whips Brookside but she goes up and under to then wring Dawn out! Brookside clamps onto the arm and digs forearms in the shoulder.

Dawn gets up, Brookside keeps on the wrist, but Dawn spins and fireman’s carries to a takedown! Now Dawn has the arm locked up and digs her knee into Brookside’s head. Brookside fights up but Dawn cranks on the arm. Dawn keeps a leg over Brookside but Brookside pops out and kips up. Dawn wrenches, Brookside uses ropes to flip through and wring Dawn out, then she dropkicks her down! Brookside is after Dawn but Dawn kicks al eg and KNEES Brookside down! Dawn rains down rights at the ropes! Dawn drags Brookside into a chinlock and clutch! Then shifts to use her legs in the leverage! Cover, TWO! Dawn keeps on Brookside with clubbing arms and kicks!

Dawn CLUBS Brookside again, then KNEES her in the side! Brookside kicks back but Dawn KICKS Brookside to ropes! Dawn drags Brookside to snap suplex and BRIDGE, TWO! Dawn is on the arm and wrenches it, but Brookside fires off furious forearms! Brookside hits a jawbreaker! Dawn staggers to a corner, but she dodges Brookside running in! Brookside boots back, reaches up and RANAS Dawn away! Brookside fires up, runs and tilt-o-whirl headscissors! Dawn flounders about while Brookside fires up! Brookside runs in to BROKEN WINGS! Dawn bails out from those knees in the back, but Brookside WRECKS her with a baseball slide dropkick!

Brookside goes out after Dawn but Dawn hits back. Wait, who is this with the luggage? The attendant leaves them there, but Dawn and Brookside focus on each other. Dawn puts Brookside in at 6 of 10, but Brookside dodges to dropkick back! Nina Samuels is on the titantron and explains that “Brooksides are only worthy of carrying my bags.” Brookside glares at Nina on the screen, but Dawn ROUDNHOUSES her down! And SAIDOS! Cover, Dawn wins!!

NXT UK’s Leading Lady can even work in a supporting role! She helped the White Witch of Scotland get a win over the young second-generation superstar! Will Dawn return the favor down the line? Or will Brookside make sure to knock Nina’s lights out?

NXT UK Media catches up with Sid Scala.

How are things going at the UK Performance Center? There’s a great atmosphere. The new arrivals have brought new energy, but then Saxon Huxley storms through, repeating “Better luck next time!” as he knocks things over. And Scala realizes where he just came from! Scala hurries into the next room and finds Jack Starz AND Levi Muir were just laid out by Huxley! What will the consequences be for the Divine Beast of the Astral Plane?

NXT UK Heritage Cup Match: A-Kid VS Tyler Bate!

After the Supernova Sessions, it seems Scala and Saint agreed this would be an amazing match! And now, the Spanish Ace’s first defense of this trophy is against the man who actually took him under his wing! But will it take one round or all six for A-Kid to prove he’s stronger than the Big Strong Boi?

The introductions are made, the cup is on display, and this British Rounds battle of student and teacher begins!

AK and Bate feel out the grapple, tie up and go around, and Bate puts AK on the ropes. Bate lets off fast and they circle again. They tie up, AK gets around but Bate goes after an arm. AK tries to use a chinlock counter but Bate wrenches the arm. AK rolls and rolls and gets free, and resets with Bate. They circle, tie up again, and AK headlocks fast. AK grinds Bate down but Bate fights up. AK hits a headlock takeover, Bate rolls him to a cover, TWO! AK holds on, Bate spins through and wrenches back to a wristlock. Bate wrangles AK down, grinds on the arm, but AK bridges up and moves around to headscissor back! Bate pops free and the two stand off, with BT Sports Studio fans cheering!

The two circle, tie up with knuckle locks, and AK rolls and gets a leg. Bate gets free before the toehold, and he circles with AK again. They tie up with 45 seconds left, Bate full nelsons then cravats. AK endures, bridges and moves around to wrangle Bate back down! AK has the arm, Bate gets up to his knees to then roll and kip up! Bate steps through to snapmare, ten seconds and AK wrenches back! Bate turns, pries free and wristlocks! That’s the round and the two stand off!

A-Kid: 0; Bate: 0

Both men go to their corners, they use their 20 second break to hydrate, and another three minutes are put on the clock for round two!

Bate and AK go right up and circle again. They knuckle lock, fight for control, and AK spins to wrap Bate up with a straitjacket! Bate endures and wriggles free but AK spins it back onto him! Bate fights the hold again, slips the jacket down and around onto AK! AK moves around, Bate brings him to his knees and cranks harder on the hold! AK fights up but Bate digs a foot in. They go around, Bate keeps AK down, then pulls him back into his knees! AK rolls over to put the straitjacket back onto Bate! Bate gets up and backs AK to a corner! Then Bate arm-drags AK across the ring! AK backs away into the corner for defense, and then uses his leg guard to advance!

Bate moves around as we hit one minute, he pushes through the guard but AK counters to a facelock. AK gets a lateral press, ONE, but AK facelocks. Bate fights that to drag AK down and then slips around. AK reaches back but Bate gets the lateral press, ONE! The two tie up with knuckle locks but Bate trips AK to get the standing toehold! AK endures and twists but Bate cartwheels! AK kips up, they tie up but we’re at 10 seconds left! Bate wrenches and cranks but AK rolls and rolls and runs out the time!

A-Kid: 0; Bate: 0

They go back to their corners and refresh again, and then we go to round three!

Bate and AK approach and circle again. They knuckle lock, Bate kicks a leg to wrench the other. Bate has the wristlock, grinds the shoulder, then hammerlocks. AK rolls over and kips up but Bate holds onto the hand. Bate hooks a leg to trip AK up, then he mounts the arm to trap it in his legs! Bate wrenches again, knuckle locks the wristlock then headlocks. AK pushes Bate to a corner, Bate goes up but AK snapmares and then runs Bate over! Things speed up, Bate redirects but AK drops. Bate blocks the hip toss to fireman’s carry! AK slips out of the airplane spin because he knows it so well! Waistlock and GERMANS!

AK holds tight to bring Bate up but Bate throws him off. AK kips up to NORTHERN LIGHTS, but Bate handsprings through! Bate waistlocks, O’Conner roll, Bate gets the fall!!

A-Kid: 0; Bate: 1

The Big Strong Boi takes the lead, and the champion knows how pivotal it is to score first! Will the Spanish Ace be able to recover?

After another break, round four begins. A-Kid starts to grow frustrated already as he and Bate circle. They feel out the grapple, knuckle lock, and Bate pushes AK to the ropes. AK pushes back out of the ropebreak so Bate pushes back. They circle again, feel things out, and AK kicks a leg! Bate sees A-Kid is getting serious so they go again. AK KICKS Bate in the head! Bate fires off fists in return! Bate brings AK around to EuroUpper! Bate headlocks, punches, and repeats! AK pulls hair, puts Bate on the ropes, and lets off as the ref counts. Bate shoots in but AK sprawls to facelock back! AK wants the grovit but Bate fights up, so AK HALF HATCH SUPLEXES! Cover, TWO!

AK keeps on Bate with a rear mount to a sleeper! AK body scissors, Bate powers up and RAMS AK into the buckles! Bate is free as we’re at one minute, but AK leaps back on! Bate tumbles, AK squeezes tight, but Bate fights his way up! AK shifts around to drag Bate down for a triangle hold! Bate is down, AK squeezes tight, but Bate endures as we’re under 20! Cover, ONE, AK keeps hold but Bate dead lifts and POWERBOMBS! Bate crawls to a cover but time runs out!

A-Kid: 0; Bate: 1

It’s hard to tell who survived that round! But we’re deep into this and though he’s gasping, Bate is the one standing. AK makes it to his corner but he might need more than the 20 seconds.

Round five begins and AK hobbles over to Bate. They tie up, go around, Bate wrenches an arm to a knuckle lock, but AK kicks a leg! AK hooks the leg, Bate bridges but AK sweeps the legs out. Cover, TWO as Bate bridges again. AK puts his weight on but Bate stays up! And again as AK tries again! But Bate anticipates the third, monkey flips, they’re both down, ONE as Bate rolls up. AK catches Bate for flip to the ropes, and a springboard DDT!! AK hurries to cover Bate, AK ties it up!!

A-Kid: 1; Bate: 1

An incredible comeback in the blink of an eye! And now it comes down to the sixth round! Will this be the final round? Or will someone force overtime?

Now it’s Bate that might need more than 20 seconds to recover. Bate gets his water and gets to his feet to go again. AK storms right up to Bate and he throws some testing kicks as they go around. Bate is on the defensive, staying out of AK’s range. Bate gets his footing and now AK dares him to do something. Bate throws hands but AK bobs ‘n’ weaves to fire off hands of his own! Bate feints and UPPERCUTS, to the ROLLING KICK! AK tumbles but Bate grabs him to keep him in! Bate drags AK up on the apron to suplex but AK fights it! Bate keeps AK up to suplex again, but AK slips around to a backpack sleeper! Then a body scissor to O’Conner roll, TWO!!

AK ENZIGURIS Bate! AK fires up, Bate is dazed, AK runs in to DYNAMIC- NO! Bate avoids the kick, rebounds but lariats into an ARMBAR! Bate moves around, AK omoplatas and RINGS OF SATURN! Bate fights as we reach a minute, high stack cover, TWO!! AK gets Bate in a sunset flip, AK WINS!!!

Winner: A-Kid, by pinfall (still NXT UK Heritage Cup Champion)

The student has surpassed the mentor! Bate is frustrated that he got caught like that, and the Spanish Ace proudly raises the Heritage Cup! And in the end, Bate shakes A-Kid’s hand to show there is still respect. One defense down, will A-Kid continue to grow his legacy into something legendary?

My Thoughts:

A great episode with a lot of great surprises! Oliver Carter gave quite the performance, really selling that neck and still giving Devlin a good match. I’m pretty sure Devlin racks up several wins in his Open Challenge series, because honestly, this all has to end only with a winner takes all Cruiserweight Championship. Eddie Dennis and The Hunt demanding the title match was a good move, and that match is going to be really good. Dawn VS Brookside was also very good, but I figured it was a way to segue to a story. Nina Samuels is not leaving Brookside alone so maybe those two finally settle things. What if it was a unique match type like a Matched Luggage Match, where briefcases and roller trunks are used as weapons?

Huxley going after Levi Muir and Jack Starz was a good move. I figured something was happening with those three, just not that. Maybe Huxley wins a handicap match against them? The Supernova Sessions is a fairly well-done wrestling talk show, and had a decent start with setting up our great main event. I wonder if Dar will have Devlin as a guest to arrange a title match with him. I’ve been wanting to see Irish Ace VS Scottish Supernova for quite awhile, that needs to happen before determining the one true Cruiserweight Champion. And as I said, A-Kid VS Bate was amazing stuff. Story and character on top of action, and naturally it went to the sixth round. British Rounds matches are strong in creativity of quick wins and momentum changes, and these two did that very well. A-Kid is skyrocketing up the ranks and it is great for him to be the first holder of the Heritage Cup.
