AJ’s IMPACT Results and Review 4/29/21

As Rebellion wrapped up with the outsiders invading the company, we have a lot going on here. Taylor Wilde making her In-Ring Return, Ace Austin wanting his rematch right away along with a celebration with the new IMPACT World Championship. Will we get answers? Will we get a championship rematch in the time coming or will we get a new challenger?

Let’s find out on the IMPACT after Rebellion.

Results:

Review:

Scott D’amore has everyone around the ring to address the next contender to Kenny Omega as the new World Champion. Apparently, Rich Swann doesn’t have a rematch clause involved in the match. At Under Siege on May 15^th, there will be a 6 Man match IF KENNY OMEGA MAKES IT to the end of the night tonight, then it will be for whoever wins is the new champion. There will be six qualifying matches to determine the six competitors as we start with Jake Something against Chris Bey for the first qualifier.

Jake Something vs Chris Bey:

Chris Bey gives his finesse in the ring from the start and uses his quickness to take Jake for a loop. Chris has a good amount of offense going for him but after a good while, Jake uses his power that he has to take down Bey and uses some of the speed and agility against him at times but both of them swing the momentum. Jake gets the advantage after a discus lariat and even brings Bey in the hard way. Something is going big but Rohit actually grabs Jakes leg and Chris Bey gets a roll up, the victory and the first ticket punched for Under Siege.

Don Callis has “Kenny” on the phone to take the jet to go to IMPACT as Sami Callihan walks up and tells Don that Kenny better be careful because he wants what’s his.

Sam Beale vs W. Morrissey

Morrissey talks before his match up, saying there is bad guys in the back but he isn’t afraid to admit it.

He absolutely dismantled Sam Beale from the start, hitting massive lariats on Sam over and over, even punting his stomach on corner, caring him over and landing a Massive Powerbomb. Pretty much a typical squash match but damn it is so good he took a page from the Kevin Nash school of wrestling.

We get a short promo before a break with Deonna Purrazzo, Kimber Lee and Susan and how Deonna will sit back and watch Taylor for her match, seeming like she is scared but says she isn’t, facing every knockout. Then Jessica Havok comes in and just laughs and smirks before walking off.

Kimber Lee vs Taylor Wilde:

Taylor is showing some ring rust here as Kimber takes down Taylor over and over for a good amount of time until Taylor starts picking it up, showing the speed she still has after a decade and goes for a potential Sharpshooter but gets blocked as Kimber takes over here, putting her in multiple holds like a Camel Clutch and one of my personal favorites, Lotus Lock. Kimber makes a mistake though, taunting Taylor Wilde and Taylor picks up the pace. After Kimber fails to land a Senton Splash, Taylor attacks after and uses a Modified Indian Deathlock.

Moose catches word about the six way for Under Siege and tell Scott that he will stop at nothing to get what’s rightful their’s. James Storm comes in and says he’ll see Moose next week.

Josh Alexander vs Ace Austin:

Both men are even for the first few moves of the match but the champion hits a hard suplex to gain a good amount of offense. The quickness of Ace comes into play though and takes it to Josh, even somewhat getting into Josh’s offense with holds and continues the speed but after a while, it’s old real quick and Ace gets hit with a Chaos Theory to change the pace. Josh Alexander hits a release Torture Rack Bomb. Ace tries to get separation and comes back with the kicks, rocking and dazing Josh Alexander but to no avail.

Ace Austin gets more corner offense in and Alexander gets the separation and Fulton goes to pull Ace out. As a good amount of back and forth between the two go on, Josh Alexander hits a slam onto the apron and Fulton tries to interfere but fails again as he crashes into the steel steps. Ace gets one more try and a massive burst of offense against the Champion but to no avail as Josh Alexander sizes up Ace and makes sure he folds with an Ankle Lock.

After the next break, Gia has the new Knockout Tag Champions in an interview that Fire n Flava interrupt and say at Under Siege, they will get their rematch.

Brian Myers vs Matt Cardona:

Myers attacks Cardona before the bell and Cardona quickly turns that around and hits a Russian Leg Sweep. As the bell finally rings, Chris Myers starts to attack, hitting the knee that he injured at Rebellion. Myers going out of the ring to do more damage to the knee of Cardona. Myers keeps going in and out of the ring to pick apart and destroy the knee of Cardona but Matt creates separation and hits a one legged Dropkick from the top and hurts himself on the fall as Brian Myers comes back with words. Matt catches Brian in the Sky High and gest a two but he’s not letting that stop him. Myers holds onto the ring skirt and tries to take advantage again of Cardona but he counters the Roster Cut with some Radio Silence.

Sami Callihan vs Eddie Edwards:

Neither men get the advantage until Sami goes to the outside and gets hit with a Shot of Caffeine and going back inside where Eddie continues the assault until Sami gets dirty and kicks the legs oout from under Eddie and keeps going to attack the face and neck of Eddie. As Sami tosses Eddie into the ropes for a Sleeper Hold, Eddie takes advantage of the separation and takes the fight back to Sami, landing a Jawbreaker and a Frankensteiner to get the offense going and lands a Blue Thunder Bomb to finish the onslaught. As Sami gets the advantage, going for a Piledriver, Kenny Omega and The Good Brothers show up and take it to Eddie and Sami.
(Aftermath: As The Good Brothers prop up Sami Callihan to hit a V-Trigger, FinJuice comes out and tries to fight them off but it’s not enough as Bullet Club stands tall at the end.)

Final Thoughts:

IMPACT actually started showing newer clips during the commercial breaks (we still had Steiner Math so all was right in the world) and it showed some people who are in AEW along with IMPACT wrestlers that are in the Under Siege Qualifiers. As usual, the X Division are the show stoppers and makes things happens for IMPACT wrestling. We even get a tease at another name for IMPACT’s partnerships with El Phantasmo showing up next week.

Everything was really good but my God, I really do hate that they just belittle IMPACT with Kenny Omega and have an executive doing that. It urks me, I know that’s the point but I am just… not a fan. Hey. Maybe we will see someone else who is in AEW come into IMPACT again and fight them off again. We’ll see but until then, that was IMPACT for tonight, X Division as always was the show stealer and we are getting parts moving with Under Siege for May.
