It’s the first Elevation after Double or Nothing!

AEW did it up big for Double or Nothing Weekend, but things keep rolling on Dark: Elevation! Jungle Boy swings right back into action after his big Casino Battle Royale victory!

MY THOUGHTS

Only 8 matches and just under 90 minutes is already a superior way to do Elevation. Rosa opening with a promo to warn Britt was great, because we all knew that rematch was coming even before Britt actually got the title. I am surprised Rosa’s match was so early in the card, but I suppose it is for her to get the fans fired up and viewers to tune in on YouTube. Tehaka has another good showing but of course Rosa wins. I’m sure Rosa will keep winning, she might run into other top five contenders and add some great matches to her record, and then we’ll get something on par with the Unsanctioned match Ros and Britt had, but for the title. Hell, each woman has a submission in their arsenal now that Rosa uses the “Peruvian Necktie,” make it a Submission match!

Starting with The Acclaimed is a great way to hook both YouTube viewers and the live crowd. Another strong rap from Caster, and I’m glad to once again see Brent & Brandon Tate, formerly Dalton Castle’s Boys from ROH, and apparently the current OVW Tag Team Champions. Listening to commentary, I don’t think Wight or Schiavone knew which twin was in at any given time, but in the end, The Acclaimed win anyway so it didn’t really matter who took the finish. Another week, another match where Leyla Hirsch is too legit, too legit, you gotta quit in that armbar. Robyn had a good showing, but Hirsch is top five, I bet Britt avoids Rosa by facing her instead.

Schiavone’s in-ring post show interview with Jungle Boy after the PPV apparently had no one in the audience, so that was weird. Christian crashed it to give a promo to how he felt at the end of the Casino Battle Royale. It was good, but honestly, not needed because of the moment we got at the end of that match. The Hardy Family Office going after Christian did make sense because of how the CBR went, but all of this could’ve been a backstage interview segment, not an in-ring one. JB helping out also made sense, and I guess the only reason it was in-ring was so JB could tope conjilo. I would’ve instead made it so that Jurassic Express helped Christian, Christian and Jurassic Express VS HFO in a trios match for Dynamite.

We got a good promo of Varsity Blonds before facing Chaos Project. Their match with Chaos Project was very good. The dynamic Luther and Serpentico have continues to be hilarious, and Julia Hart is making a great faction member already. BPJ and Griff could build their way up to be contenders again by All Out if AEW doesn’t have any other Face team in mind for that. Bucks are taking Death Triangle on in non-title competition for Dynamite, so Bucks could be defending the titles against them for Fyter Fest. We also got another great promo from Penta and translator, Abrahantes, to hype that match and tonight’s great match. Casa de Penta, Cero Miedo, that’s a shirt right there.

Dustin Rhodes have one of those in-ring post PPV interviews was alright. He did need to hype up the bullrope match he’s having with Comoroto and here was the spot to do it, and he did do that. I hope when Vickie and Nyla Rose cross paths with Mark Sterling and Jade Cargill, Sterling gets in Vickie’s face. But at least Vickie mocking of Justin Roberts is getting a bit creative. Bunny & The Beast VS #SwoleVelvet was great stuff, still hoping on AEW bringing back those tag medals for the women’s division. Skip the tournament format and make it a Triple Threat Ladder match, winners bring down the medals.

Joey Janela had a random interview but it works for fallout from both Dark and Double or Nothing. I can speak from experience that migraines are horrible, but obviously Janela is lying through his chipped tooth. The Bad Boy is unraveling, I can’t believe he meme’d “Big Mommy Milkers” into his promo. Tay Conti getting the penultimate match tonight is great for her, and of course she wins to stay strong. Jungle Boy getting the main event spot just makes sense, that guy is red hot, supremely over, like I said for DON, and he is going to be just as red hot going into the title match with Omega.
