AEW brings us no less than 90 minutes of extra action!

Saturday night was dynamite but there’s always Elevation! AEW keeps things rolling as the return to Wednesdays and the road are just around the corner!

MY THOUGHTS

A just over 90 minutes, AEW continues to do a lot for their fans, which is to be commended, but it is a lot for someone as crazy- I mean, fanatical- I mean, uh… I watch a lot of wrestling, obviously, so again, another week, another heavy Monday. But opening with the post show footage from Saturday was great, Eddie Kingston always does great on the mic. Obviously, he has no love lost for “the other channel,” and admittedly, there are many reasons why to not like the competition as a company. Eddie and Penta getting the main event spot is perfect, and of course goes with how they’re going into Dynamite’s return to Wednesday to take on The Young Bucks. A great match from them and a great team in TH2, but of course a great win for the Mad King and Cero Miedo.

I don’t recall Wingmen VS Gunn Club being advertised but great to see it happen. A very good opener to get the fans fired up for the day, as the sun was shining at this time. Though, upon actually looking at the crowd, there seemed to be even more wrestlers watching in the front row and other areas. The Gunn Club streak continues even while Austin Gunn is out, they should be considered obvious favorites for eventual AEW trios titles. Ford was advertised, that’s on me for not having it on the card when this published. Ford of course wins, she needs to stay strong now that she’s back, but she gave Rossi a decent showing.

But Cage VS Serpentico was not advertised at the time, either, and this was definitely filmed before what happened on Dynamite because of the dysfunction we saw between Cage and Starks. Cage still wins, of course, he’s ready to take on Starks when Starks is cleared, but the team didn’t really help Cage with Luther, either, so it is good detail for the story. Having The Elite show up on Elevation is big for Elevation, and facing The Machine Gun is big for Wheeler Yuta to make his AEW debut. It was a great showing, but between it being Karl Anderson, and having The Elite ringside to make it an unofficial handicap match, Yuta wasn’t winning. Maybe Yuta will end up an ally of #EliteHunter.

The Nightmare Family combo of Dustin, Big Shotty and the Son of the Enforcer was of course going to win, Brock Anderson’s second match wasn’t going to be his first loss. Brock does take a lot of the damage, though, so it helps build up his toughness. Dustin’s still got it, I still wish there was better pacing and booking so that we got the second-ever Bunkhouse Match, Dustin & Johnson VS QT & Comoroto. Dustin had just as much beef with QT as former tag partners as QT and Cody have with each other, but Cody is the one calling the shots. Maybe Dustin, Johnson and/or Brock can feud with the other members of The Factory, and maybe there will be more members added to the Factory for it.

Another awesome rap from Max Caster, he and Anthony Bowens get another win to stay at the top of the tag rankings, and they really took it to PB and Justice. Oh hey, PB & J. Heh. Good to see Riho back in action, she and King had a really good match in a friendly Face VS Face showdown. Though of course King teases Riho for her height. Riho gets the win for a strong return, but she’ll have to wait awhile for a return to the title with Britt and Nyla and other stars lined up for it.

Speaking of those other stars, Rosa returns to have a good match with Perez and a strong win of her own. Shida’s match being penultimate is great for her, and Reka got a great showing. It seems Shida’s sticking with the mesh half hakama pants. She still gets the win to stay strong in her own right, maybe something more will be introduced for the women’s division since they have so many names. Maybe a Women’s TNT/TV Championship? No other co-ed promotion has something in the vein of  women’s midcard title, it’d help AEW stand out.

The surprising part of Varsity Blonds tonight was Julia debuting a second outfit. The Blonds win to stay on top of the tag ranks, and also so BPJ gets that momentum going into his match with Miro. Chuckie T VS The Blade felt like one of the matches, looking on paper, that could’ve gone either way. But after what happened on Dynamite, Chuck going after Blade make sense, and they had a really good match. Allie is all in on her Bunny persona, she really adds to things, and of course she helps Blade cheat to win. Trent might be out for some time, but Orange Cassidy and Chuck can definitely take on whatever combo the Hardy Family Office throws at them.

#HardyParty VS Dark Order in the Six Man Tag was really good, and I like that things got going fast even before a bell. Fans love the Dark Order, the HFO is a group fans love to hate, but with Alan Angels in the combo, of course The Dark Order loses. The story of “Number Five feels like last place” needs to come back around, even if just on Elevation and Dark. But either way, Hardy Party was gonna get this one going into things with Christian Cage and maybe even Jurassic Express, those are going to make for some good matches.
