AJ’s IMPACT Results & Review 7/1/21

With Slammiversary looming in the distance and major match implications for the event, it’s only fitting since it’s a few weeks away. Sabin and Moose might have a moment in the six man match, Eddie and Kojima have a match that might do something for Slammiversary, Petey Williams will face Chris Bey to pick a side in the upcoming Ultimate X Match and Callihan will get some level of violence on the champion…

Oh yeah. Kenny will also be on for once to wrestle. How fun…

Results:

• Satoshi Kojima vs Eddie Edwards Sam Beale w/ Brian Myers– Kojima wins via Cozy Lariat – ** ¾
• Tenille Dashwood (w/ Kaleb) vs Rachael Ellering (w/ Jazz) – Rachael wins via Roll-Up – ** ½
• TJP & Fallah Bahh vs Willie Mack & Rich Swann – Double DQ due to Interference – N/A
• Chris Bey vs Petey Williams – Chris Bey wins via Springboard Cutter – *** ¼
• Steve Maclin vs Manny Smith – Steve Maclin wins via Lifting Inverted DDT – N/A
• Team Dreamer (Chris Sabin, Sami Callihan & Moose) vs Team Callis (Kenny Omega & The Good Brothers) – Team Callis wins via Magic Killer – ***

Review:

Satoshi Kojima vs Eddie Edwards Sam Beale w/ Brian Myers-

Eddie’s music plays but W. Morrissey pops up on the video screen and tells him that he jumped Eddie in the parking lot and Brian Myers comes out with Sam Beale and tries to address Jake Something. As Myers and Beale run off from Jake’s music after sucker punching Kojima, a Ref comes out and says that they have a tag match against Jake and Kojima.

Kojima starts off against Sam Beale and after a good amount of offense; Jake comes in and beats down Sam until Sam tags Myers in and they begin to take it to Jake Something over and over with frequent tags. As more tags come in, Jake looks lost and worse for wear as Sam and Brian come in and out but he finally gets some separation with a double lariat and gets Kojima in and hits some Machine Gun Chops and gets ready for the Koji Cutter but Myers cuts in.

As Myers lands as Flatliner on Kojima, he goes to a corner for a Spear and Jake Something comes in to hits a Blackhole Slam on Myers and Kojima hits the Koji Cutter and then the Cozy Lariat on Sam Beale. Goes to show that even we will use the vets to beat the Young Lions.

Tenille Dashwood vs Rachael Ellering-

Tenille doesn’t waste time to beat down Ellering but Rachael pushes Dashwood away and doesn’t let down her assault now as she gets the advantage. Kaleb comes to the apron to give Tenille a quick breather and Rachael hits him and Tenille takes advantage during this opportunity. It seems like Tenille is in the driver’s seat and will win the match but Rachael got a quick talk from Jazz and hits a Quick Slingblade and Ellering has a good amount of offense and even with Kaleb coming in with some form of distraction but Rachael gets a Roll-Up and gets the win, despite distractions.

Aftermath: Tenille and Kaleb try to beat down Rachael Ellering but Jazz comes in to even the odds but everything looked in Tenille’s favor until Jordynne Grace runs in and fends off Tenille and Kaleb and reunites with Ellering in the end.

TJP & Fallah Bahh vs Willie Mack & Rich Swann-

The Former Crusierweight Champions start the match up and look impressive doings so but the big bois come in and the Irresistible Force meets the Immoveable Object and all 4 men come in and take each other out One by One with Swann flying in for a dive to take everyone out… and then the Tag Champions come in to end the match.

Aftermath: Every member of Violent By Design does their signature moves onto each person of the group. Rhino’s Gore on Willie Mack, Deaner with a DDT to TJP and Doering with his Death Valley Driver into a short arm Lariat. All.. By… Design.

Chris Bey vs Petey Williams –

Both men showing their skill set of speed, going back and forth with they explosiveness but Petey gets the final laugh and puts Chris Bey in a Tree of Woe, standing on Bey’s ‘Hockey Stick’, singing the Canadian Anthem before Bey gets a separation and swings the momentum into his favor, going a little more of a ground game with a lariat and head scissor hold to slow down Petey Williams.

Petey Williams gets a slight separation to set up the Destroyer but Bey catches it and does his Reverse TKO. As Bey gets some speed going, Petey goes and tries another Destroyer attempt but fails once more, getting the leg picked. Petey tries one last time after some separation for the Destroyer but Bey hits a Springboard Cutter and gets some momentum.
(Aftermath: Fulton, Shera, Austin and Rohit come out and tells Bey that it could be a 5 man instead and Bey walks to the top of the ramp. Josh Alexander and Trey run in to help Petey and help the numbers a little bit but it’s too much. Chris Bey looks around and runs in to… HIT A MISSLE DROPKICK ON SHERA! Chris Bey choses Petey, Trey and Alexander’s side as they stand tall after.)

Steve Maclin vs Manny Smith-

So the big bad Jersey Marine, Steve Maclin, goes on to face… in all honesty, DPP with Rich Steiner’s haircut and facial hair and just wears this poor guy out with a front headlock at first and keeps man handling Smith and showing his power as he goes to another level with heavy strikes before he hits that Deadlift Inverted DDT… almost like a Michinoku Driver from that position… I don’t know but it worked. Count to a million.

Team Callis vs Team Dreamer-

Karl comes in with the AEW Championship, LG comes in with the TNA Championship… even Callis has the AAA Mega Championship around his waist before Kenny walks in with the IMPACT World Championship and… that honestly makes me happy to see the championships and sickened at the same time with everyone holding individual ones…

Sabin and Anderson start things and they are very even in the matchup before Sabin tags in Moose forcefully and Mosse gets in his face before Sami tags himself in and takes down Team Callis and they have to powder and regroup. Sami keeps the fight to Karl Anderson and tags in Sabin for a move and the animacity between Moose and Sabin boil in more and more as Moose gets back in Chris Sabin’s face and Anderson gets an advantage and tags Omega and Gallows in more and take it to Sabin over and over. Sabin finally makes a breakaway and goes to tag Moose in for the Hot Tag and Moose steps out of the way. Callihan glares at Moose and gets the tag to beat down Anderson until a distraction made Team Callis and Sabin tags himself in to take it to all three opponents and goes to hit the Cradleshock but Moose tags himself in and more inner fighting happens.

Moose is done with this match basically and after more shenanigans with Moose, Dreamer and Sabin, The Good Brothers tag themselves in and hit the Magic Killer, Omega V Triggers Sami away from the action and Team Callis wins.

Final Thoughts

Alright then. We get some Slammiversary teasers in this where Havok and Rosemary have a match to see if they are worthy of the Knockout tag Team Championships, Deonna might have bit off more than she can chew because it seems they are teasing the return of the Undead Bride on the horizon or as Kimber said, “Last resort” for all of this. We have the sides set for Ultimate X where it looks to be a 4 on 4 the way it’s shaping up to be with Shera and Fulton in Rohit and Ace’s corner now that Chris Bey chose the others. A lot of things going on but there is one thing that I am always verbal about…

Whenever we don’t see much of Kenny Omega, it’s actually a pretty good show in my honest opinion. Whenever there is too much Omega, I would like to turn off my screen but I can’t because I’m giving all of you wonderful insight on IMPACT Wrestling. The Good Brothers are always great but they look like chumps ever since they aligned with Kenny, Callis is always great with that Old School Heel promos but there is a thing as too much bravado and very verbose when out there. I know that’s what they are supposed to do and it’s working for me as a fan because I’m not supposed to like the bad guy but it’s not working for me as a viewer. It’s like watching a Batman TV Series and the ending is always Joker kicking him in the balls. It’s stale.

Can’t wait for true IMPACT with some people coming in from other companies as a healthy working system because that’s how it started. It aged like fine wine with a Five Star Dinner, to me with this AEW muddling, it’s aged like milk. Spoiled, rotten and ruining my appetite.
