AJ’s IMPACT Results & Review 7/8/21

Nine more days till Slammiversary which means nine more days of chaos with more implications with Slammiversary on the horizon as the Knockout’s Tag Champions might have a challenger coming up, a return of Su Yung might come around to take down the Virtuosa with some help from Kimber Lee and Myers has Something to teach his young boy, Sam Beale, a lesson .

Let’s not forget the official Contract Signing between Omega and Callihan and we all know that contract signings NEVER go well in professional wrestling so let’s see what Don Callis and the Good Brothers got going to make his bedlam.

Review:

Brian Myers vs Jake Something-

Jake takes it to Brian early on to the outside, bashing Myers’ head into the steps before returning back to the ring and due to the referee splitting Jake off of Myers, Brian Myers gets the advantage with a chop block and has a target on the big man. Of course, Myers can’t hold the momentum for long and Jake Something gets the ball back in his court momentarily. After Myers gets a level of offense, he gets put into the Black Hole Slam to admit that Jake Something is a Professional.
(Aftermath: Sam suckers Jake Something when Brian is about to say Jake’s a professional and 2 on 1 him. Matt Cardona returns to the ring and beats them down and chases off Brian Myers as he hits Radio Silence to Sam Beale.)

Deonna Purrazzo Open Challenge-

Deonna earlier says nobody has stepped up to face the Knockout’s Champion so she makes and open challenge and Lady Frost comes out to answer the challenge.

Deonna starts with some trash talking but they are somewhat even in the beginning and Deonna even gets taken down at some point but Deonna gets annoyed, taking it to Frost to the corner. Frost actually puts her down but Deonna counters a Moonsault attempt and Deonna takes over, putting on the Fujiwara Armbar and wins.

(Aftermath: Deonna trash talks everyone saying she is the best Knockouts Champion of all time until the bell tolls and Gail Kim comes out from the back. Deonna starts by giving respect to Gail Kim being the corner stone of the Knockouts Division and Gail says she respects Deonna as well but she tells her that she has things going for Slammiversary. Deonna prematurely accepts against Gail but she said she is retired but the plans are… she will face someone randomly at Slammiversary. Gail ominously tells her, “It’s not just our world that changes, yours will too.”)

W. Morrissey vs Jason Page, Deante Evans & Danny Smith-

He cuts a promo against Eddie Edwards since he issued a challenge at Slammiversary to which we have a new match for the PPV.

Morrissey gives no effort to the three competitors and as I’ve always said, he needs to take a page out of Kevin Nash’s book and after a Big Boot, Chokeslam and a Jack Knife… y’know all Nash staples. He stacks them up and wins.

Susan & Kimber Lee vs Havok & Rosemary –

Susan and Rosemary start and Rosemary intimidates Susan to the ground and takes it to her until the tag to Havok tags in and the two demonic ones take Susan for a ride and Susan tags Kimber in.

Kimber gets rocked next but actually… find a way to take down a fresh Rosemary and gets Susan in to do some two on one to Rosemary. Rosemary is actually getting beaten by Kimber and Susan for a good while and Rosemary gets a split from them and tags Havok. Havok comes in and cleans house, even after getting a distraction.

Havok tags Rosemary back in and they hit a Russian Leg Sweep/Spear combo for the win.

Rich Swann and Willie Mack come to the ring to talk about what happened last week to them along with TJP and Fallah and call out Violent By Design to challenge them for the tag titles. TJP and Fallah come out and say they are the next in line for the tag titles. VBD comes out and stands their ground with the other four challengers until The Good Brothers walk out and say that they are still eyeing the Tag Titles and want to give us a sermon.
Dreamer comes out to say that the tag titles are defended in a Four Way matchup at Slammiversary but for now; Rich Swann, TJP, Karl Anderson and Deaner are in a fatal four way match up.

Rich Swann vs TJP vs Karl Anderson vs Deaner-

Karl goes to beat down Swann and Deaner and TJP start taking it to each other in all over the ring. Each men gets different advantages against the other but Swann is standing tall in the ring after taking Karl Anderson out. TJP comes in and we gets some good ol’ fashioned high flying antics. Swann gets the advantage yet again but Deaner comes in and picks apart Swann inside the ring. Deaner makes it so Swann powders out and Karl takes care of him outside but Deaner is inside of the ring taking it to TJP.

Deaner takes himself out and Anderson follows suit outside but Swann kicks TJP and takes to the sky to take down his competition.

Swann brings Deaner back in and takes him down as Karl and TJP are beating each other up outside of the ring. Swann is looking perfect but Deaner throws the Kitchen Sink to get the advantage and Karl tries to get a treated with Deaner but to no avail as he takes down Anderson. Swann comes back and heel kicks Deaner, Swann gets hit by a Spinning Heel Kick from TJP and Anderson takes it to but TJP counters and beats down the Machine Gun.

Anderson tries the Gun Stun but TJP counters it and Deaner gets hit by a European Uppercut. Chaos ensues and each men hits their finishers on each other but the end of the day, it’s good to know the Invisible Hand because Karl Anderson hits the Gun Stun on Deaner for the win.
(Aftermath: The Good Brothers stare daggers into Doering and Rhino and each team circles around the ring to stare at Violent By Design.)

Scott D’Amore is out for the closing segment for our World Championship Contract Signing and introduces Kenny and Don to come out and oh my god it’s only the championship that matters in this company, the IMPACT Championship! Don tries to weave his words to say Sami has eight strikes against him and Don Callis reads the contract for Kenny Omega and after Kenny signs, the power… flickers. It shows the camera from a different side and shows the full footage that it was Johnny Bravo that was Sami in disguise and Callihan appears to hit Kenny with the Baseball Bat. Kenny attacks Sami from behind as Sami threatens Callis and Kenny tries the Cactus Piledriver but Sami reverses and hits the Package Piledriver to Kenny Omega as he signs the contract.

Callihan looks to go out of the ring but Sami Callihan powerbombs Kenny Omega through the table before it closes.

Final Thoughts:

Good. Keep this up. Do what you have been doing. Keep stories flowing, make sure things are perfectly set just for the love of God, keep Kenny involvement to a minimum and IMPACT will be watchable again for me!

Now I know it’s negative and yes that is the yarn they are trying to pull that Kenny is the bad guy but as I said last week, it’s stale and annoying. This time, Batman kicks the Joker between the legs and it looks like all is right as Riddler is getting worried on the sidelines. Sorry if my comic book nerd side comes out but, it’s about time I am entertained by the product I’m distributing. So with nine days until Slammiversary, the penultimate IMPACT is in the books. We have more matches, almost every championship is looking to be defended even though the Knockouts Tag Titles are probably going to be Fire n Flava against Rosemary and Havok but, I love good stories and they are telling some good ones on the show so far.
