NXT Minus 6: The Sunshine Band

Brad counts down some the NXT highlights, and seems to really enjoy his idea of the KCs getting a team name! Check out the NXT Minus!

6. Dakota Kai wins! Dakota Kai wins! I had given up any hope of typing that. I gave her a 2% chance of beating Ember Moon. This is your happy reminder that you wake up, you get dressed, and you take care of your business because miracles still happen. 

5. Last week I christened Members Only. I’m on a roll. How do Kacy Catanzaro & Kayden Carter not have a team name? They’ve been a team for over a year. That’s just damn lazy. From now on, they are The Sunshine Band.  

4. Robert Stone has entered the record books. The Robert Stone Brand is now the longest running pointless gimmick in NXT history. He tried to make it work, but you need lemons to make lemonade and all they’ve ever given him is prunes. He might be the only heel manager in wrestling history who didn’t cheat to help his team win.

3. I understand why La Knight is all about the money. I understand why Hit Row is all about the Benjamins, the dolla dolla, cheese, dead presidents, floppy nubbins or whatever they are calling money these days. Why is the Diamond Mine all about the money? I thought they were a diamond-hard collective of in-ring bad assess who want to exert their wrestling dominance. The money thing is lazy & boring.    

2. In hindsight, I should have known that Johnny Gargano wasn’t beating Karrion Kross. Kross got slammed by a car door three times and popped up fresh as a daisy. If my Steiner math is correct, that means it would take 243 superkicks and 89 One Final Beats to keep him down for a three count, and we all know Kross can’t work a match longer than eight minutes. 

1. This week’s That’s Why I Love Wrestling goes to…Aliyah! If my memory is correct, she’s won fewer than three matches in NXT. Every week she knows she’s going to put someone else over, but she still shows up and gives it 100%. On her last night in NXT, she finally got her moment. She looked like she was having the time of her life kicking the snot out of Robert Stone, and the fans loved every minute of it. I have no hope she’ll be more than a jobber on RawDown, but she got to leave NXT on a high note. Good for her. She deserved it.
