NXT Minus 6: The RawDown Era begins

The NXT new era has begun! How does Brad feel about it? He probably hates it, right?

The NXT new era has begun! How does Brad feel about it? He probably hates it, right?

6. If this show is an indicator of the rumored NXT overhaul, I’m not impressed. Almost everything about this week was RawDown ass trash. It started with an 8-minute promo by Cameron Grimes that went nowhere and did nothing. I could see the life fleeing from the momentum he’s worked so hard to build. It was sad. Then we get a commercial break and 12 minutes later, our first match. One match over 7 minutes. Only one match worth watching. This is why we can’t have nice things. At least we got a new logo. That makes up for two painfully long hours.

Indi Hartwell And Dexter Lumis Getting Married On WWE NXT? - Wrestling Inc.

5. A wedding angle? I can count on my middle finger all the entertaining wedding angles in wrestling history. I hope Dexter Lumis is enjoying this, because I am not. This was actually worse than Kay Lee Ray’s disappointing debut and Boa’s puzzling loss. All of it was RawDown ass trash.

NXT's Samoa Joe Becomes New NXT Champion at TakeOver 36

4. Samoa Joe brings zero energy to the Championship title. It’s gonna take a lot of pyro to make me care about his third reign. He is clearly not the Joe from 5 years ago. RawDown lives in the past and pretends nothing ever changed. NXT should be about the future. And who is his next challenger? Let’s stuff the ring with anyone we can think of. That’s what they do on RawDown.

Carmelo Hayes | NeXT Generation - YouTube

3. Carmello Hayes has his new moniker: The Overdog. He’s clearly very talented and not a bad choice to win the Breakout Stars Tournament. Odyssey Jones should not have been anywhere near the ring. He’s more green than spinach and not as tasty. Overall, it is discouraging how little they have used the Breakout Stars. Joe Gacy is AWOL. Trey Baxter, Ikemen Jiro and Josh Briggs are jobbers. So much for breaking out. Needs more Goldberg.

William Regal addresses Johnny Gargano and the NXT North American Title: WWE NXT, March 24, 2021 - YouTube

2. The highlight of the night? A too-short segment between William Regal and Johnny Gargano. Where there’s a Will-iam, there’s a Way. Golden. Everyone deserves better, but Gargano in particular should not be shackled with the burden of being demoted to NXT RawDown. He’s been too good for too long. In fact, I would even call him elite.

WWE NXT notes: Elektra Lopez aligns with Legado, Indi & Lumis

1. A one-match show. I’ve never typed that. NXT used to be where I went for wrestling. That’s over. Now I’ll endure countless interviews & boring promos so I can be “rewarded” with a gem like Legado Del Fantasma versus Hit Row. Great action with an absolutely perfect repackaging. Hello Electra Lopez. Say nothing. Crack B-Fab with a lead pipe. Stand on the ramp like a Bulla. I’m excited to see more of you…unless next week you turn on Legado, elope with Swerve Scott and reveal that Wade Barrett is your long lost daddy. It’s the RawDown way.

Chris King: Too Soon For Seth Rollins vs. Bron Breaker?

Is WWE Backlash too soon for Bron Breakker vs Seth Rollins? Chris King weighs in!

Seth Rollins Bron Breakker WWE Monday Night Raw

Is WWE Backlash too soon for Bron Breakker vs Seth Rollins? Chris King weighs in!

‘The Visionary’ Seth Freakin’ Rollins and Bron Breakker opened Monday Night Raw in an extremely intense face-off. Both superstars traded barbs at each other. Rollins, being the veteran, was trying to show the young up-and-comer Breakker that he isn’t ready to become the next big-money superstar in the WWE. Breakker told his former Vision leader that he never needed him and got sick and tired of fighting Rollins’ battles.

Rollins threw out the challenge for Backlash, but I am questioning whether it’s wise to give away the one-on-one match so early. Breakker made his shocking return at WrestleMania, taking out Rollins and costing him the match against Gunther.

The following night Breakker broke his rival in two, delivering two massive spears. Last week, The Street Profits returned to help Rollins against The Vision, and that made me believe WWE was heading in a different direction. I was thinking that WWE should book The Vision vs. The Street Profits and Rollins in a six-man tag team match, but this week, Montez Ford said that they didn’t return for Rollins and they want the tag team titles. Rollins will face Breakker in a highly anticipated singles match at Backlash, where I am predicting Rollins to get the win. I can easily see Rollins’ fourteen years of experience getting the better of the young up-and-comer to outsmart him.

While The Street Profits attempt to win the championships from Austin Theory and Logan Paul, I don’t see a title change happening anytime soon. If that’s the case, then I can see Rollins and The Street Profits teaming up in a few weeks or possibly at Night of Champions. This would also extend the rivalry between Rollins and Breakker all the way into SummerSlam, where Rollins will take the loss. I am happy that WWE didn’t rush this and add it to the Mania card because now this feud has time to develop properly.

Chris King: The Wyatt Sicks’ Wasted Potential By WWE

Chris King takes a look at the WWE and their wasted potential of Uncle Howdy and the Wyatt Sicks faction.

Wyatt Sicks WWE

Chris King takes a look at the WWE and their wasted potential of Uncle Howdy and the Wyatt Sicks faction.

It’s that time of the year again, folks; it’s unfortunate and downright awful that so many WWE superstars got released today. I’m not going to list all of them, but I am going to talk about one of my favorite factions,

The Wyatt Sicks. Nikki Cross, Joe Gacy, Erik Rowan, and Bo Dallas (Uncle Howdy) were something special. After Bo’s brother Bray Wyatt’s tragic passing, WWE felt like there was a hole that needed to be filled. Wyatt was one of the most creative and brilliant characters, and Bo would be taking over his brother’s concept and bringing it to life. In 2024, at the end of an incredible documentary highlighting Wyatt’s career and struggles, Bo appeared on the screen portrayed as Uncle Howdy. The last time Uncle Howdy was seen on-screen was at the 2023 Royal Rumble, where Wyatt defeated LA Knight in a Pitch Black Match. Howdy jumped off a structure onto Knight.

This post-credit scene sparked so much speculation and excitement that Wyatt’s brother would carry on his legacy and possibly debut the faction that was Wyatt’s concept. On the June 17th episode of Monday Night Raw, The Wyatt Sicks made their dramatic debut ,destroying the backstage area as well as “murdering” Chad Gable. It was such an iconic arrival for Howdy as he made his menacing walk from the back into the audience who were chanting “Holy Shit.” The Sicks and American Made (Chad Gable and The Creed Brothers) battled for months, with The Sicks being victorious. On the September 9th episode of Raw, The Sicks defeated them, with Howdy getting the win with Sister Abigail.

The following year, The Sicks would move over to Friday Night SmackDown, and it seemed like WWE had a plan in place. They would win the tag team championships from The Street Profits and start to look dominant. Now, what should have happened next is Howdy should have won the United States title. The Sicks could have held all the gold over on the blue brand, but it never happened. The Sicks entered into a never-ending feud with The MFT’s (Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, JC Mateo, and Talla Tonga.) It started off exciting, and the WWE Universe was red-hot for their interactions.

After months of repetitive matches and The MFT’s stealing their lantern, the feud grew tiresome and boring. Even Tama asked Solo why they are still holding onto the lantern, as it was destroying them as a whole. Finally on the SmackDown before Mania, Tama

gave the lantern back to Howdy against Solo’s wishes. Please explain to me why both factions fought almost every single week instead of just having one final blowoff match at WrestleMania.

It should have been either a massive street fight or a falls count anywhere match on the grandest stage of them all. Instead, it turned into a meaningless week-after-week extravaganza that benefited no one. The MFTs won the rivalry, and The Sicks don’t even work for WWE anymore. This was the same criminalized creative process that Wyatt dealt with during his first run in the company.

We’ll never know how much of a dangerous force The Wyatt Sicks could have been in the WWE. For all their careers’ sake, I hope they stay far away from the company for as long as possible. Every superstar that was cut deserves better!
