NXT Minus 6: Good bye

Brad has reached the end of the Black & Yellow brick road, and this is where paths diverge.

6. I started this column because I genuinely wanted to share my excitement for NXT. I don’t want to be one of those guys writing about a show he hates. In my humble opinion, and it’s worth what you paid for it, NXT 2.0 is tie-dyed dog shit. If you like it, that’s cool. This will be my last regular column. I’ll preview and recap Takeovers. If NXT can once again produce a show with 6 enjoyable moments, I’ll be back. It is wrestling. Never say never.

5. If I want slapstick weddings and half baked soap operas, there are a thousand shows on a dozen streaming platforms offering that. I came to NXT for wrestling and wrestling stories. That is harder to find. I enjoy the occasional comedy bit. Johnny Gargano has been golden this year. But if NXT is going to give twice as much air time to a wedding than their championship match, they no longer want my attention.  

4. This week, there was approximately 30 minutes of actual wrestling. There were multiple squashes, one bogus ending and no match over 9 minutes. NXT is no longer a wrestling show. My heart breaks for Tommaso Ciampa. Watching this tire fire killed my soul and I couldn’t even enjoy his reunion with Goldie. Savor her while you can, Ciampa. Something tells me she has a wandering heart. Speaking of…   

3. I don’t care who his daddy is, Bron Breaker is Mojo Rawley 2.0. He’s a generic, overly-hyper, jacked up, angry nostril popper. Line of the night goes to my 9 year old daughter. She asked me who is the guy in the Funfetti costume. I said his name should be Rex Steiner, but instead his name is 100% ass trash, because F$%& you, that’s why. 

2. I 100% believe this is Vince’s jealous attempt to kill NXT. He’s tired of the younger brother getting all the attention. If they want to increase ratings, I’m not sure clogging the show with nameless noobs is the way to go. BTW, give a F$%&ing tag team a name. Josh Briggs and Whoever Jones should be the Nameless Noobs. And to the Hit Row reject yelling Bouty Bouty: pack it up, make like your belly button and get outie outie. You suck.

1. All is not entirely lost. I have seen the future and his name is Brutus Creed. Amid the flexing and anger and nostril popping, Brutus stood out. During his tag team match, there was a brief moment where he and brother Julius exchanged looks. Julius was popping nostrils, but Brutus gave him a sly Brock Lesner-ish smile that said “I enjoy whooping ass.” It was a split second but it showed more real emotion than all the other greenhorns combined. If WWE doesn’t get fixated on pretty boy Julius or the Brock lookalike, they already have their next big thing. His name is Brutus Creed.
