QUICK NOTES
Mizunami & Hirsch teaming up again is cool, and QT is totally tune-up fodder for Vance going into his match with Moxley this Wednesday. And I’m sure the fans appreciated seeing Paul Wight in action for a bit of nostalgia.
AFTER WATCHING
Not even 40 minutes, so that’s nice. Good opener from the women’s division, Mizunami & Hirsch have great teamwork and chemistry. I still don’t get FTR having that 80’s pop theme but I did like their little Latino Heat shimmies in their entrance. Of course they win, they’re the AAA Tag Team Champions and are building momentum towards the rematch with the Lucha Brothers. Toa Liona got a great showing, though, and really made FTR earn this one. Fun stuff from Sakura and Tehaka, like the hair wrench and Tehaka blocking the biel with pure strength. Tehaka has another good showing, but being the vet, Sakura of course wins.
Vance VS QT was good, and it seems the Ten chants finally found a home with Vance after Shawn Spears stopped using that gimmick. QT got quite the shiner, though, that thing swelled up fast. I like that we did get some brawling from the stable mates, too. And Wight having a main event under five minutes was definitely all the time he needed. Again, great for the nostalgia of hearing those giant chops from him, as well as his signature choke slam and knockout punch. He and the Gunn Club haven’t settled things, hopefully they aren’t just dropping that. Gunn Club getting a win over Wight would be pretty big and could feed to their angle of shoving the win-loss record stuff in AEW’s face.
