AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament Semifinal: Bryan Danielson VS Eddie Kingston!

The American Dragon slayed the Natural, while the Mad King found a way against the Murderhawk Monster. But now, we see who can knuckle up and put in the work! Who heads to Full Gear and the finals of this tournament?

The bell rings and fans are fired up already as the two circle. They feel things out, Kingston test the waters with some jabs, Bryan tries a kick. They clinch, end up on ropes, and the ref has them break. Kingston CHOPS Bryan and then eggs Bryan on. Bryan keeps cool as he and Kingston circle again. They approach, knuckle lock, separate and go again. Bryan tests things with a kick but Kingston ends up in a corner. The fans cheer for “Both These Guys!” as Kofi gets his leg moving. Kingston and Bryan keep testing things. They each kick, Kingston staggers and Bryan rams him into a corner. The ref calls for the break. Bryan lets off to KICK in return for that chop! And ten CHOPS, KICKS, repeat!

Kingston turns things around to CHOP and CHOP and CHOP! Kingston whips, Bryan goes up and over and keeps moving, ducks and dodges to FLYING LARIAT! Then a CORNER DROPKICK! Kingston flops out of the ring, fans fire up and Bryan waits. Kingston throws a chair around at ringside, calms down and gets back in. Fans rally and duel as the two circle. Bryan goes for a leg, Kingston facelocks to block. Bryan slips around but Kingston waistlocks. They stand, Bryan gets away and Kingston eggs him on again. They approach, Bryan tests things with a kick but Kingston stays back. Kingston tries his own kicks, Bryan eggs him on so Kingston CHOPS again!

Kingston stands Bryan up to CHPO and MACHINE GUN CHOP! Bryan turns things around to KICK away on Kingston! Then EuroUpper! Kingston sits down, Bryan stands him up and wrenches to an ELBOW BREAKER! Kingston drops to his knees, Bryan isolates the arm and STOMPS it! Bryan gets the arm again, a top wristlock isolation to STOMP again! Kingston sits up, Bryan throws knees, then gets the arm again. Another wrench, ELBOW BREAKER! Bryan whips, Kingston reverses and KNEES Bryan low! Kingston CHOPS Bryan to a corner, CHOPS him again, then stalks him to another corner for another CHOP! Kingston headbutts, Bryan headbutts back!

Bryan eggs Kingston on, Kingston gives another headbutt! Bryan headbutts, wrenches, ELBOW BREAKER! EuroUpper! Kingston BOOTS, Bryan EuroUppers again! Kingston dropkicks Bryan off his feet! Fans fire up, Kingston gets Bryan up to turn him for a NECKBREAKER! Cover, TWO! Kingston clamps on with a chinlock, Bryan fights up and is put in a corner. Kingston CHOPS again and again! Bryan’s chest is almost as red as his own ring gear! Kingston BITES Bryan on the forehead! Fans are thunderous as AEW goes picture in picture!

Kingston digs his boot into Bryan, lets off as the ref counts, and shakes out the bad arm to drag Bryan back up. Kingston CHOPS Bryan again, throws him out of the ring, then waits on Bryan. Bryan gets up as the ring count climbs, Kingston goes out after him and RAMS him into the steel steps! Kingston gets back in the ring, a new ring count climbs and Bryan drags himself into the ring. Kingston storms over as Bryan flips him off. Kingston CHOPS Bryan, stands him up and SLAPS him down! Cover, TWO! Kingston gives another headbutt, then brings Bryan up on the ropes. AEW returns to single picture as Kingston CHOPS Bryan again!

Kingston talks some trash, CHOPS, but Bryan throws forearms! Kingston pokes Bryan in the eye! Fans cheer and Kingston whips Bryan to ropes. Bryan holds ropes, dumps Kingston out then WRECKS Kingston with a dropkick! Kingston gets up, Bryan leaps in, into a RIGHT HAND! SAIDO SUPLEX to the floor! Kingston goes into the ring, the ring count begins and fans are fired up again. The count is 5 of 10 as Bryan stirs. Kingston watches closely as Bryan slowly staggers. Bryan is down, but he springs up and in at 9.5!! Kingston snarls, brings Bryan up and SAIDO SUPLEXES Bryan into buckles, then SAIDOS him to center! Cover, TWO!

Kingston wants the STRETCH PLUM! Bryan endures, reaches out, crawls, and ROPEBREAK with a foot! Kingston lets go, fans still rally and he drags Bryan up in a corner. CHOP! Kingston digs his knee in, stands Bryan up and puts him on the top rope. Kingston climbs to join Bryan but Bryan resists the suplex. Bryan throws body shots, headbutts Kingston down but Kingston CHOPS back! Kingston climbs up to the very top, Bryan resists again and throws more body shots! Bryan headbutts Kingston down again, but Kingston SLAPS Bryan! Bryan holds onto the top rope to keep from falling, but Kingston brings him up to CHOP again!

Kingston positions Bryan where he wants him, climbs up again, but Bryan slips under to trip Kingston! Bryan then climbs up, for a SUPER BACK SUPLEX!! Both men are down and fans are thunderous again! “This is Awesome!” and a standing count begins. The two men stir at 4 of 10, Bryan gets up at the ropes at 7. Kingston waves off the count, Bryan CHOPS him! And CHOPS him! And EuroUpper! Kingston CHOPS back! And CHOPS, and CHOPS! Bryan staggers but he EuroUppers, KICKS, and KICKS! Kingston ENZIGURIS! Bryan staggers into a half nelson but arm-drags free to BUZZSAW! Kingston stays sitting up but Bryan aims again, for more KICKS!

Bryan KICKS from all sides, then powers up, BUZZSAW again!! Kingston falls over this time and fans are fired up! Kingston flounders, Bryan aims, but Kingston drops before the knee! Bryan rains down forearms and elbows instead! FUJIWARA ARMBAR! Kingston bites his hand to endure and resist but Bryan bends even the fingers! Kingston powers up, swings, but Bryan catches that arm! Kingston uses that to DDT!! Both men are down and the fans are electric in the Agganis Arena! The standing count climbs again and Kingston sits up at 5. Bryan follows and they throw hands on the mat. Kingston SLAPS, Bryan SLAPS, and they fight up!

Bryan fires off KICKS and EuroUppers, but Kingston eggs him on! ENZIGURI blocked! ROLLING ELBOW from Bryan, URAKEN from Kingston!! Standing ovation already as the two men are down! Kingston crawls over to Bryan, roars, but Bryan drags him into a TRIANGLE HOLD! Kingston endures, powers up but Bryan throws elbows away into Kingston’s head! Kingston flips Bryan off even as he fades! Kingston is OUT, Bryan wins!!

Winner: Bryan Danielson, by submission (advances to the finals)

An insane semifinal match, and it’s the American Dragon heading to the PPV! How much harder will he fight in the finals to secure his shot at the AEW World Championship?

After both Bryan and Kingston had time to recover, Bryan offered a handshake to show his respect. However, Kingston refused to take it, surely frustrated with the result. Will Kingston be able to rebound and find a new path to the top?

Backstage interview with CM Punk.

Tony Schiavone is here with the Best in the World, and sees the big smile after the big birthday week. Punk is now 5-0, Halloween is his favorite holiday and Punk loves being in Boston. But Kingston is raging about his loss. He didn’t tap, so he didn’t lose! Kingston notices Punk notice him, so Kingston storms over. He slaps the mic out of Schiavone’s hand as he tells Punk, “What is so funny?” Punk and Kingston argue, backstage producers and even other AEW wrestlers like Shawn Dean and Ruby Soho keep Kingston back. Punk asks Kingston if he wants to go to sleep again, since we all just saw it happen in the ring.

The Mad King is raving mad, Punk asks if he thinks this is a game. That’s unprofessional and disappointing. That’s all the time they have for backstage, Schiavone throws it back to the announce desk. Will Kingston look to take out his frustrations on Punk?

Dante Martin w/ Lio Rush VS Matt Sydal!

The Man of the Hour wants Angel Dorado to leave his failed former mentor in the past, and that means finally getting a win over Matt Sydal 1v1! Sydal’s won both times before, will the third time be the charm? Or does Sydal just have Dante’s number?

The bell rings and Lio tells Dante to focus. Sydal has Dante look him in the eye because this is about them, not the crowd or about Lio. Sydal says he sees Dante’s real worth, not Lio. Dante and Sydal shake hands, there’s still respect here. They tie up, go around, Sydal waistlocks to a headlock takeover, then floats to another one. And then a snapmare, but Dante handsprings through! They circle, tie up and Sydal gets a leg. Dante facelocks, Sydal wrenches to a top wristlock and arm-drag. Sydal grinds the arm, has a knee on Dante’s head, but Dante sits up. Dante handsprings through, snapmares back but Sydal handsprings.

Sydal and Dante go again, tie up and Sydal wrenches to a wristlock. Dante stays up, he uses ropes to flip through and then he jumps the sweep. Sydal mule kicks the leg, whips corner to corner but Dante stops to elbow Sydal away. Sydal spins to his feet but Dante goes Spider-Man to headscissor Sydal into buckles! Dante goes out, springboards in, BIG missile dropkick! Sydal flops all the way out of the ring as fans fire up for Dante! Dante goes to the corner, triangle jump and ARIHARA MOONSAULT! Direct hit on Sydal and Lio is there to help Dante back up. Fans fire up with Dante as AEW goes picture in picture.

Dante puts Sydal in the ring, brings him up and DECKS him with a forearm. Sydal get sup but Dante DECKS him again. Dante brings Sydal up again but Sydal KICKS his leg! Sydal then brings Dante into the cobra clutch and adds a RUSSIAN LEG SWEEP! Sydal wants the cobra clutch stretch but Dante moves around, so Sydal gets a leg for an inverted Half Crab! Dante endures and reaches out, crawls his way forward, and gets the ROPEBREAK! Sydal lets go and brings Dante up. Dante throws body shots then dropkicks, only for Sydal to deflect it and basement dropkick in return! Sydal ties up Dante’s legs and brings him in for a BOW ‘N’ ARROW!

Dante endures, pries at the hold but Sydal thrashes him. Sydal lets him down and DOUBLE STOMPS Dante on the back! Cover, TWO! Sydal keeps his cool, drags Dante up and CHOPS him! And CHOPS again, then scoops Dante for a MICHINOKU DRIVER! Cover, TWO!! Dante survives, but Sydal KICKS him in the back. Sydal cravats and wrenches the neck. Dante endures, even as Sydal thrashes him. Sydal lets go to KICK Dante around, then he brings Dante up. Dante throws body shots, backs Sydal to a corner and fires off forearms. Dante whips corner to corner as AEW returns to single picture and he runs in at Sydal. Sydal puts Dante on the outside, but Dante GAMANGIRIS!

Lio coaches Dante, fans fire up and Dante goes up the corner. Dante kicks Sydal as he jumps over, then ducks the kick, only for Sydal to SOBAT! Dante sits in the corner, Sydal goes corner to corner, SLIDING KNEE! Fans fire up, Sydal STANDING MARIPOSAS! Dante flounders up, Sydal KICKS him in the leg! And again! Dante ducks the clothesline but Sydal schoolboys deep, TWO!! Dante escapes but Sydal brings him around, only for Dante to throw more forearms! Dante whips, Sydal reverses but Dante leaps to sunset flip! TWO!! Sydal escapes but Lio wants Dante to focus. Dante gets to ropes, springboards up and over, rolls under then BOOTS Sydal!

Dante runs and jumps to headscissor Sydal, then he runs to DOUBLE STOMP Sydal down!! Cover, TWO!! Lio is on the apron telling Dante to finish this off! Dante gets to a corner, climbs up again, but the bad leg slows him down. Sydal CHOPS Dante, climbs up to join him, but Dante hits back. Sydal gets on the very top but Dante throws body shots. Dante shoves Sydal down hard, Sydal still gets up to NO HANDS RANA! Cover, but Dante makes it a ghost pin! TWO!! Dante fires up and fans fire up with him! Dante brings Sydal up to ROCK him with a forearm, and another! And another! Sydal KICKS the bad leg, but Datne roars and boots, but Sydal ducks it!

Sydal ROUNDHOUSES, then LIGHT- NO! Dante lands out of the spiral to ANGEL STUNNER! Dante gets to the corner, hurries up as Lio and the fans rally for him, and Dante springboards for the TRIANGLE JUMP QUEBRADA! Cover, Dante wins!!

He’s done it! Dante Martin has won against Matt Sydal! Lio raises Dante’s hand in victory, is #LBOLio the reason Dante’s stock has risen to this level? Will Lio be the reason Dante keeps rising in the AEW ranks?

Britt Baker and her team are all painted up to be scary like Abadon, but Abadon has herself a Trick or Treat match up next. The treat is that if Abadon wins, she will get a title shot. The trick is that this is no disqualification. Any tricks up Abadon’s sleeves? Abadon simply snarls and growls, and even spits up some blood… So, no comment? What does Britt think? As the “hardcore legend,” she is no stranger to No DQ. And she has a couple of “zombies” with her, so she’s fully confident that she will send Abby straight to hell while staying our AEW Women’s World Champion. Yours Truly, Dr. Britt Baker, DMD. Happy Halloween. Wait, where’d Abadon go? Enough talk, time for the main event. Britt tells her team to hurry, will they get to the ring before Abadon gets to them?

Trick or Treat No Disqualifications Match: Britt Baker w/ Jamie Hayter & Rebel VS Abadon!

Halloween is a few days away but every time the Living Dead Girl is in the ring, it feels like a horror movie! Will the AEW Women’s World Champion get out of this without owing Abadon a title match? Or will Abadon secure an even scarier sequel with The Dentist?

The bell rings and Britt works to stay calm. Abadon shrieks and Britt drops down into her corner! Hayter and Rebel tell her she can do this, but the fans cheer on the “Spooky sh*t! Spooky sh*t!” Britt works up the courage to get in, but she gets a STUNNER! Britt bails out, Rebel and Hayter check on her but she’s fine. They get a TABLE out for Britt! Abadon watches curiously as Britt throws a chair into the ring and the table is set up. Britt and team are working on something wicked of their own as AEW goes to break.

Rampage returns once more and Abadon has Britt down. Abadon sets a chair on Britt, then runs for a FULL METAL SENTON! Fans fire up and Abadon gets another chair. Abadon wedges that chair into the corner, stalks after Britt, but Britt fires forearms. Abadon throws body shots, whips but Britt stops herself to get Abadon for a COMPLETE SHOT to the chair! Britt drags Abadon to a cover, TWO! Rebel and Hayter drag Abadon to the table and Britt goes to the corner. Abadon fights off Britt’s cronies and gets on the apron. Britt runs into Abadon’s shoulder, Abadon throws hands then shoulders in. Britt throws hands, Abadon hits back.

Abadon drags Britt through ropes but Britt holds on for dear life! Britt fights back, SWINGING NECKBREAKER onto the table! The table doesn’t give and the two bump and slide off to the floor! They reset with help from Rebel and  Hayter, SUPLEX onto the table but the table still doesn’t break! That table does not care about anyone’s feelings! But Abadon sits up like a Deadman! Abadon drags Britt up, puts her in the ring and roars! Fans cheer the table on for hanging tough but Abadon brings out a mystery bag from under the ring! Abadon gets in, roars and opens the bag to pour out… THUMBTACKS!! Britt’s worst nightmare has come back to haunt her!

Abadon runs in ,but Britt clinches! Abadon avoids the STO by pulling hair! Abadon throws back elbows, kicks low and facelocks. Britt resists the DDT, throws body shots then shoves Abadon away. They both roar, run in, Abadon gets a URENAGE to the tacks!! Cover, TWO!! Another cover on the tacks, TWO!! Fans lose their minds while Britt gets away from the tacks. Abadon argues with the ref, Hayter helps Britt get a chair, and Britt THROWS the chair into Abadon’s face! Britt then puts Abadon’s head through the chair, runs and CURB STOMPS Abadon down!! Britt gets her love from Rebel, but Abadon rises?!?!

Britt is freaking out but she SUPERKICKS Abadon! She gathers up a bunch of tacks and puts them in Abadon’s mouth! SUPERKICK to the mouth full of tacks!! Fans lose their minds, Rings of Saturn, but Britt hesitates to put her hand in Abadon’s mouth. Abadon WANTS Britt’s hand in her mouth because she wants to bite the fingers!! Britt can’t keep Abadon from pulling the hand in and Abadon is BITING Britt’s hand!! Britt gets up, Rebel yells and Hayter CLUBS Abadon from behind! Abadon lets Britt go, but she goes after Rebel! Abadon BITES Rebel’s face!! But Britt rolls Abadon up, Britt wins!!

Winner: Britt Baker, by pinfall (denies Abadon a title match)

Hayter checks Rebel’s face but she’s okay. They check Britt’s hand, it’s harder to tell if the hand is okay. Abadon may not have gotten her treat, but did she do enough psychological damage to the Dentist before Full Gear for Tay Conti to take advantage of?

My Thoughts:

An awesome Rampage right here. That title eliminator match may have been a semifinal but that could’ve been the finals right there. So much great story and character work on top of the actual match. Kingston passing out with that middle finger was such a great touch. Very Taker VS Lesnar feud after the Mania streak was broken. Bryan was definitely the one going to Full Gear but this really elevated things. Kingston being pissed and then shouting with Punk was a nice touch, too. They’re going to have a killer match, that’s for sure. Dante VS Sydal was great stuff, too. I figured Dante was winning one way or another, even when this was a tag match, but I like that it was clean and Lio let Dante do things his way.

The Trick or Treat match was awesome, even with the table not budging. If anything, it added a lot to the toughness of both Britt and Abadon. Hell, Abadon looked awesome in this entire match, and is probably the kayfabe toughest person on the roster. Her wanting to bite Britt’s fingers was a great way to turn the Lockjaw hold against her. But it was very clear Britt’s sidekicks would help her, so of course that’s how things went in the finish. I kinda wish they’d done more of Abadon going after Britt before this point, but this much still did wonders for Abadon in the eyes of the fans and in the power rankings of AEW.
