Andrew’s IMPACT Results & Match Ratings: 2.3.2022

Between Mickie James coming out in full IMPACT gimmick for Royal Rumble and the TNA chant with AJ Styles and Bobby Roode; this could be an interesting show. We kick things off with a Digital Media title fight!

Bullet Club main events the show, Honor No More is always threatening…IMPACT is just filled with so many different flavors at the moment. Plus it looks like we’re keeping Matthew Rehwoldt and Tom Hannifan on commentary, so it’s a lot of old yet somehow new/refreshing sprinkled all around.

Can the Long Island Iced Z grab the title he effectively inspired?

Results:

Digital Media Championship: Jordynne Grace (c) vs Matt Cardona

Cardona is a little off his game cause the few times a Shoulder Tackle or something offensive lands, Cardona pauses and shows concern since they really hammer home that this is his first Intergender singles match. Cardona’s Hanging Neckbreaker gets blocked, Jordynne goes for the Vader Bomb, Cardona dodges and Suplexes Grace into the corner against the turnbuckles.

He’s thrown off, but he slowly starts gaining his composure that Jordynne is his opponent regardless of gender. Cardona does get stuck in trying to force a few elbow drops, but Jordynne counters all of them and goes on the offensive. A few big power moves, the Vader Bomb hits and she gets the near fall. She goes for Vader Hammers, but Cardona fires back. Drops Jordynne into the corner, reluctantly hits the Reboot and he’s just conflicted the whole time.

He powders out, looks to be under the thrall of the championship. Tries to bring it in, the referee takes it from him, and then while the ref is distracted, Jordynne charges and Cardona hits her with a chair and has a shit eating grin on his face. Radio Silence, and we got the OG Internet champion as the new Digital Media champion!

Right after we have all the questions about Cardona, we go backstage and Massive Cassidy is killing the Learning Tree. He chases down Myers but gets blocked until he resolves things with Scott D’Amore.

Jonah vs Crazzy Steve w/Decay

Steve goes at Jonah Spider Monkey style. Coming at the big man from odd angles, climbing on his shoulders and biting him. Just really insane offense. Jonah eventually nopes the Carnival crap. Beats down on Steve….and TSUNAMI! Sent him to the clown morgue…

Gia tries to get Cardona’s thoughts and he’s in full douchebag mode. Dammit Impact…don’t make me like Zack Ryder.

Steve Maclin vs Jonathan Gresham

So early on they went for pure wrestling, where Gresham obviously took an advantage. Then we start seeing more of the pro wrestling and heelish shortcuts come into play. Maclin puts a bit of a beating on  Gresham, catches his Backflip and hits a Power Slam.

Gresham grabs the bottom rope, and then Maclin just pummels him in the ropes to get DQ’d. So there’s a Maclin moment of beating down Gresham, but then Honor No More come out to beat down Maclin as Gresham walks off…not accepting any allegiance at the moment.

Josh Alexander vs Vincent w/Honor No More

Early on Honor No More jaws a bit, makes things chippy and that gives Vincent a solid advantage. Taven again has some good comments, and now I’m more mad that Impact keeps making me like Taven. Alexander keeps his cool and counters a Front Choke with a few elbows into the Vertical Suplex.

We see the Walking Weapon start wrestling circles around Vincent, but Honor No More is doing enough to distract Alexander. Vincent hits Redrum, but Alexander kicks out. Josh looks to pick the ankle, Honor No More go for some bully tactics, but Team IMPACT shows up to equalize the numbers. Vincent lands  a Pump Kick, tries to go for a Shiranui, but his ankle gives out and Alexander locks in the grapevine Ankle Lock.

Before Team IMPACT can enjoy the small win, Kenny King hits the ring and hits the Royal Flush on Alexander.

John Skyler vs Bhupinder Gujjar

This being Gujjar’s first official match as member of the IMPACT roster, he put on a decent showcase. Skyler had moments to make Gujjar’s life difficult, but we all knew where this was going. A little height, some athleticism and decent looking Middle Rope Spear to make things look a little unique.

Raj Singh comes out to try and act like a proud manager, but Gujjar doesn’t seem to care for his involvement.

Masha Slammovich vs Kaci Lennox

It’s nice to see Kaci getting some air time as a wrestler and not just a backstage interviewer like in MLW! Oh…but Masha is dominating this match and Kaci gets rocked and easily dispatched.

Bullet Club (Jay White, Chris Bey & G.o.D.) vs Ace Austin, Madman Fulton, Jake Something & Speedball Mike Bailey

This was a quality TV main event with a simple enough premise. Bullet Club were posturing during the entrances while Fulton and Ace tried to keep Bailey away from Something. Hell nearly the whole match was a game of Keep Away since Ace and Fulton wouldn’t tag Jake and when Bailey was torn, Fulton or Ace would reach over and tag themselves in.

G.o.D. pulls off a Magic Killer, Guerrilla Warfare, we see Jay do his fun Snap Half Nelson Suplex and Bey hits a few fun spots before we get to the eventual end. Ace and Tama were going back and forth with Ace losing the trades. Ace notices that only Jake is up, so he plays the cocky role and tries to ignore him. Jaw Jacker sends him flying into the corner, Jake grabs Ace and hits him in the chest with the chop as the tag.

House of fire Jake drops everyone. He tries to set up Tama for his hesitation Spear and then the Into the Void, but the numbers catch up. So we see Loa drive Jake into the corner, Stinger Splash from Tama, Jay hits the Half Nelson Suplex, group holds Jake for Bey to hit Art of Finesse.

Really fun match, solid finish, dysfunctional one team made sense and the Good Brothers & VBD beat down of Bullet Club to close the show makes a ton of sense.
