Andrew’s IMPACT Results & Match Ratings: 4.21.2022

Rebellion is in 2 days, and you gotta wonder if this will just finish setting the table or if there will be any new wrinkles added. Honor No More and Bullet Club get a nice faction fight tonight! Moose is supposed to issue a statement to Josh Alexander as well.

Aside from that, I have no clue how they’re filling the rest of the time (promos for the PPV are a given). So lets see if there’s anything interesting that happens.

Results:

Violent By Design (Eric Young & Deaner w/ Joe Doering) vs Decay (Crazzy Steve & Black Taurus)

Black Taurus was lighting up Deaner until EY took a…let’s call it advantageous angle to stabilize things for VDB. This was definitely a fun brawl. EY went to the top, but Taurus finally put some counter offense together.

Steve comes in and Deaner comes in. Taurus wipes out EY with a big Running Dropkick, cannonball, King Kill 33 on Deaner…but EY makes the save with a beautiful Macho Man Elbow. The referee gets distracted by Doering after he takes out Taurus on the outside. EY uses the flag to stagger Steve, Deaner DDT and VBD keeps Decay out of the tag team scramble!

The Major Nerds show up to talk. Myers and Cardona spout typical heel stupidity. Chelsea honestly feels like a cheap knock off of Maria when it comes to her role in Honor No More/Kingdom. The FBI show up to interrupt. Guido Maritato and Tony Mamaluke, you know, Full Blooded Italians. Did you think I meant the ACTUAL FBI?

FBI makes fun of the Major Sissies, and Guido challenges for the Digital Media title. 

IMPACT Digital Media Title: Guido Maritato w/Tony Mamaluke vs Matt Cardona (c) w/Chelsea Green & Brian Myers

Guido shows off some amateur wrestling chops with a nicely Belly to Belly Suplex, some solid Arm Drags. Even a small bit of comedy with Guido going for the trip to the knee, but Cardona is too strong. Mamaluke gets chased, ducks and almost gets Chelsea punched so Guido gets a free Dropkick. But then the shenanigans and numbers start working against the ECW original.

Cardona tries to “get serious” but gets caught disrespecting Guido. Sicilian Slice for a near fall! Myers interference, Chelsea stuff, Low Blow, Radio Silence and Cardona retains.

Massive Cassidy makes the save as the Major Nerds try to put the ECW originals through a table. Chelsea uppercuts the ding ding though, Myers sets up to Powerbomb Cassidy but Jordynne Grace makes the save. Jordynne wakes up Cassidy and directs him to Chokeslam Cardona through a table. And GAHD DAMN does he. 

Shera w/Raj Singh vs Gabriel Rodriguez

Squash match! Shera will kill this poor kid who looks like an anorexics Uso. Shera murders him…I don’t even know if he has a name for that, it’s just donezo.

Honor No More vs Bullet Club

Vincent starts off for HNM and Machine Gun is the starter for BC. And this starts off really quick. Quick hits, sneak attacks, fun stuff and apparently, Kenny King trained Chris Bey and this is their first time touching in a real match. They go for some acrobatic kick dodges, but King falls a little, so instead of the Double Dropkick, King just Dropkicks Bey in the legs and they jaw.

Bennet distracts Bey, so King hits the Chin Checker and we get some Honor No More in control. Taven takes a few shots at Bey before Machine Gun gets back in. Bennet tries to get involved, Karl wipes out Bennet and then…”Hi Maria”. Taven hits a Dive and HNM is in control again.

Karl counters the Proton Pack with a Spinebuster after the commercial and tags in Jay White. Jay starts laying out all of the HNM guys, babyface hot tag Jay White is a weird flavor, but I don’t hate it.

Signature spam spot incoming. Kenny King hits a Tiger Driver, Bey takes out King with Art of Finesse, Bey dives to wipe out most of the others, Bennet feeds in, Gun Stun, Magic Killer and 1-2-3.

Really fast, and really fun. I really love how Kenny King took an obvious slip and turned it into something clever and rolled with it wonderfully.

Speedball Mike Bailey & Ace Austin vs Trey Miguel & Laredo Kid

Laredo and Ace start things off, so fast paced action, Laredo does a high Dive, similar to the one where Fenix took out Marisela Pena at TripleMania. It looks like it caught Bailey to the point of maybe knocking out a tooth or being troublesome either way since he keeps checking it.

Ace and Bailey actually have great cohesion and teamwork through the match. But as things break down, Laredo saves Trey, Ace takes advantage of Bailey getting wiped out and hits a Springboard Gamengiri on Laredo. Ace tries to set up The Fold on Trey, but Trey counters with a Bodyscissors Cradle for the pinfall victory.

Ace attacks Trey after, holds Trey for Speedball, tells him to end him, but Speedball hits a Roundhouse Kick on Ace. So it’s a true Triple Threat. 

Overall: 6.5/10

Okay so nothing really surprising happened in this episode. Sure we got confirmation that Speedball won’t be manipulated into being Ace’s new crony, but that was kind of a given. It drove the major feuds for Rebellion home and end with some main event hype where Alexander finally gets his hands on Moose. A C4 Spike through the table really makes you wonder. Will we follow old school mentality of “if they stand tall at the Go Home, they fail at the PPV”?

I personally feel like Alexander finally gets his legitimate title reign, but Moose has had a damn solid run on top. Hard to be upset with either one winning, but all of the Tweeners and Heels underneath at the moment, really makes you think they need a Babyface champion. Decent show, slow and predictable for a weekly viewer, but for an intermittent fan, it got the points across.
