Eddie Kingston speaks.
“Forbidden Door! AEW VS NJPW! Yes, everybody, love it, enjoy it, buy it. You’re gonna see history. You’re gonna see my boy, Moxley, in there with Tanahashi, baby. You’re gonna see me try to rip you apart, Chris! Suzuki, what’s up, baby? I love to fight! Let’s get it on ‘n’ poppin’. But the more important thing, to me personally, no offense Tony Khan or the rest of the locker room, is Blood & Guts! Chris, I will never be satisfied until I taste your blood. I wanna see if it pumps Kool-Aid, baby. I wanna see how a coward’s blood tastes. Because you know a coward dies a thousand deaths, Chris.
“But people like me, people like Santana & Ortiz, people like bored young Yuta and Moxley, hah, we’re soldiers, and we only die one death. I’ll see you at Blood & Guts, Chris, and I can’t wait to taste your blood.” Will The Mad King be tasting a sampler of it in Forbidden Door’s Six Man Tag? Will the Jericho Appreciation Society be able to survive the steel cage?
Keith Lee & Swerve Strickland speak.
Swerve starts with, “First off, excuse me, Mr. Lee. It’s been awhile since I hit one of these. Milwaukee, Wisconsin, whose house?” “Swerve’s House!” Swerve tells Keith that they’ve been on a roll lately. Swerve knows they haven’t seen eye to eye all the time, but Keith can’t argue with the results. They’re getting wins, and then on Sunday, they’ll get another one, courtesy of Suzuki-Gun’s Yoshinobu Kanemaru & El Desperado. Then they’ll get back to this whole thing, show that love! Keith declines the hug. He says anyone can watch Dark: Elevation from Monday, it is clear they aren’t on the same page. But they can get there.
And Swerve is right about one thing: They have to keep winning. Indubidubitably. Hmm… Like Keith said, they can get there. They can, but will they? Or will they be tripped up by the Heel Master & Rogue Luchador, the former FOUR-TIME IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion combination?
Serena Deeb & Mercedes Martinez VS Laynie Luck & Sierra!
Speaking of Dark and Dark: Elevation, the unlikely duo of the Professor of Professional Wrestling and the OG Badass began there and has seen dominant success since. Will the Wolf and the ROH Women’s World Champion continue to rack up the wins now that they’re on TV?
The teams sort out and Deeb starts against Sierra. Fans chant for Sierra as she is one of Milwaukee’s own, and she ties up with Deeb. Sierra waistlocks, Deeb standing switches, then Deeb wrenches to a wristlock then hooks Sierra up in an OCTOPUS! Deeb thrashes Sierra around, CLUBS her ribs, then brings Sierra around to CHOP her down! Sierra tags out to Luck and she ties up with Deeb. Fans fire up with Mercedes and she wants Luck to get up, but Deeb tags in! Deeb gets Luck’s legs and ties them up in an INDIAN DEATHLOCK! Deeb stands up and taunts Luck while putting on the pressure. Deeb bridges to put on all the pressure, and Luck flails! Luck reaches, crawls, and manages the ROPEBREAK! Deeb lets Luck go and fans fire up! Deeb fires off CHOPS in the corner, tags Mercedes in, and Mercedes ROCKS Luck!

Then she clotheslines Luck down in the corner, and Mercedes runs side to side to DROPKICK! Luck flops over and fans fire up! Deeb drags Luck up, tags Mercedes back in, and they double suplex to hang Luck out to dry! Luck flops down, and Mercedes runs, bumping Deeb before the SLIDING FOREARM! Mercedes shrugs that off to then hook Luck up. Sierra runs in again but Mercedes ROCKS her first! Deeb gets back in to CHOP BLOCK Sierra!
At the same time, Mercedes puts Luck in the BRASS CITY SLEEPER while Deeb gives Sierra the SERENITY LOCK!! Double tap outs, Mercedes & Deeb win!
Winners: Serena Deeb & Mercedes Martinez, by submission
Deeb still wants explanation about that bump on the apron. Mercedes says it’s whatever, they won! Will these two be able to hang together as a team? Or will things come to blows between these two alpha females?
Tully Blanchard speaks!
“Any coach that wins has great players. I want to win in professional wrestling. Tully Blanchard Enterprises has gone out to get the best players. You look at Kaun, 240 pounds of greased lightning! Toa, 300 pounds of violent terror! And The Machine, the greatest athlete there is today in professional wrestling,” Brian Cage. Anyone that steps to TBE will be MAULED! Will this Cage and the Gates of Agony bring the pain to ROH, AEW and the world of wrestling at large?
Backstage interview with Jonathan Gresham and Lee Moriarty.
Lexi Nair is with the ROH World Champion and #TYGASTYLE, and she congratulates Lee on his winning record through Dark and Elevation. Lee says yes, sir, and he’s gonna cash in for a title match! But just as Gresham is about to shake hands with Lee, in steps Tully! He tells them wrestling has always been about championships and wins, and his clients have better records than Lee so they deserve the title shot with Gresham first! Gresham has Tully slow down with acting like he’s a top dog in ROH when Gresham is the world champion.
So here’s what it’ll be: Tully’s boys VS Gresham & Lee. What’s Tully’s answer? “You’re on, baby.” Will Gresham & Lee break down the Gates of Agony before settling things between each other? Or will Kaun & Toa prove they’re a threat to the Tyga and the Octopus?
Hook VS The DKC!
The challenge was issued, and while NJPW wanted AEW to #SendHook, they offered up one of their top prospects. The Cold-Hearted Handsome Devil accepted the challenge, but will he keep his word to Danhausen that he’s “got this?” Or will The DKC be the first to break Hook’s icy exterior?
The bell rings and Hook circles with DKC. Fans are fired up for Hook, he ties up with DKC and then trips him up! Hook gets the leg for the KNEEBAR! DKC scrambles back to get the ROPEBREAK! The ref counts, Hook holds until 4, and Taz says Hook will hurt people. DKC gets up to ROCK Hook with a forearm, but Hook knees low! Hook bumps DKC off buckles, fires off body shots, and is finally looking mad! The ref backs Hook off but Hook goes right back after DKC with a knee! Hook throws another knee, then TOSSES DKC with a powerful uchimada thigh throw. DKC ends up in the other corner and Hooks runs in, but DKC dodges!
DKC CHOPS Hook, ax handles, then CHOPS and ax handles again! DKC fires up and fires off ax handles! Hook shoves DKC away, but DKC CHOPS! And CHOPS! Hook gets mad and he takes those CHOPS! Hook then ducks around to a Gotch lift! EL CAMINO! Fans are thunderous and Hook paces around. Hook brings DCK up for the heavy crossface forearms! Hook then wraps on body scissors, CLUBS DKC, and REDRUM!! DKC taps, Hook wins!
Winner: Hook, by submission
DKC brought the fight but Hook brought it back tenfold! Hook keeps on winning, will he stay cool even throughout the Summer?
Mark Henry talks with tonight’s main eventers!
The World’s Strongest Man starts by saying both Jeff Cobb and Cash Wheeler are tag team champions. This Sunday at Forbidden Door, it is Winners Take All. “Cash, your thoughts for the night?” Cash says that it isn’t a secret that singles wrestling isn’t Cash’s forte. For the better part of eight years, he and Dax made history as a team. And yes, it is Jeff Cobb he’s facing, and Cobb is one of the strongest guys in wrestling today. Cobb is one of the legitimate badasses in wrestling today. Cobb has his own history, such as becoming a two-time IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champion, but none of that matters. Cash will never back down from a fight.
Cash understands that tonight, “the assignment is a fight. Sunday night is our chance to make history once again. Our chance to step into rarified air with names like the Steiners, Bigalow, Vader.” And the United Empire won’t stand in the way of that. Roppongi Vice won’t stand in the way of that. Tonight, Cash vows that Cobb isn’t walking out of here at 100% so that on Sunday, he isn’t walking in 100%. Cobb says whoa there, Cash. “First and foremost, when you talk about me, you put some ‘spect on my name! 2004 Olympian! Please use that tagline next time, alright?”
Cobb tells Cash that he respects FTR and what they’ve done in Tag Team Wrestling. But their mouths run, and that gets them in trouble when they talk about wanting more gold, wanting after the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions. Sunday, FTR and RPG Vice are coming after the Empire, but only one team walks out with both sets of belts. And that team will be Jeff Cobb & Great-O-Khan. Cash says we’ll see about that. Mark Henry says there’s been enough talk. It’s time for the main event! Will Cash be able to stack Cobb? Or is he about to go on a Tour of the Islands?
The Acclaimed & Gunn Club speak.
Billy knows everyone saw the announcement, and yes, he used more of his influence to get them that Forbidden Door Buy-In match. They’re all excited and Austin says to grab the passports! They’re going to Japan! Think about it: Gunn Club & The Acclaimed in the Tokyo Dome~! Yo, guys, listen. How do you keep getting this wrong?! You Woody & Buzz lookin’ morons. They’re not going to Japan, they’re going to Chicago! SCISSOR TIME~! If the Ass Boys can’t even keep track of where they are and where they’re going, how are they, Papa Gunn and Platinum Max going to beat The LA Dojo all-stars?
There’s been a change to Forbidden Door!
The All-Atlantic Championship Fatal 4 Way was complete, but unfortunately, Tomohiro Ishii has to step down due to injury. But in his place will be the runner-up from NJPW’s mini-tournament! The Wild Rhino, Clark Connors, steps in to represent NJPW and the USA against The Bastard of the UK, PAC, the Redeemer of Bulgaria, Miro, and the Dark Father of the Netherlands, Malakai Black! Will this change to the match change the title’s fate?
Cash Wheeler VS Jeff Cobb!
FTR’s “Uncle Cash” takes on the United Empire’s “Imperial Unit” before they, their tag partners, and Roppongi Vice all battle for the ROH World and IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championships! Who gets that last bit of momentum before such a monumental moment this Sunday?
The bell rings and fans are fired up already. Cash and Cobb egg each other on, then they tie up, and Cobb stays put as Cash tries to push him. Cobb pushes Cash back, but Cash comes back for more! Cobb shoves him away again, then rushes Cash at the corner. Cash dodges, Cobb stops from hitting buckles, but Cash headlocks. Cobb powers up, powers out, and RAMS Cash! Cash stays up but he does have to shake that arm out. Fans rally, Cash and Cobb circle, then tie up. Cash waistlocks, headlocks, but Cobb powers out. Cash goes up and over in the corner, keeps moving, and he RAMS Cobb, but Cash is the one that wobbles!
Cobb smirks and welcomes Cash to try again. Cash runs but dropkicks the leg out! And then KICKS the leg! Cash headlocks, but Cobb endures the grind. Jericho knows Cobb is an animal and a behemoth, so that is why Cobb is Jericho’s Sports Entertainer of the Week! Cobb powers up to bring Cash to a knee and pry out of the headlock. Fans rally for “FTR! FTR!” as Cobb chinlocks then grinds Cash. Cash pries free and drop toeholds, but Cobb is too big and sturdy! Cobb drags Cash up but Cash headlocks! Cobb powers out to waistlock and SLAM Cash down! Cobb shifts to a facelock and fans rally up as Cash endures.
Cash fights up, wrenches free, and ducks Cobb’s haymaker to headlock again. Fans rally for this technical showdown, but then Cobb powers out with a back suplex! Cash lands on his feet! Cash waistlocks, Cobb elbows him away and runs, but Cash drops, and dropkicks! Cobb wobbles, Cash runs in but Cobb gives him a FLAPJACK HOTSHOT! Cobb whips, scoops, ATHLETIC PLEX! Cash flops out of the ring and fans are fired up as Rampage goes picture in picture.
Cobb goes out after Cash, hauls him up and RAMS him into railing! The ref starts the count but Cobb KICKS Cash down the way. Cobb then brings Cash up, scoops him and POSTS him! Cobb lets Cash writhe while he gets back in the ring. Cobb goes back out but Cash CHOPS him! And CHOPS again! And CHOPS again! Cash whips, Cobb reverses and Cash hits POST! Cobb looms over Cash and drags him back up. Cobb fakes putting Cash in the ring, to then fake the fans out on throwing Cash into railing. Cobb puts Cash in the ring after all, and shrugs at the fans he fooled. Cobb then gets in the ring to stalk Cash.
Cobb brings Cash up and CLUBS him back down, then CLUBS him again! Cobb stands on Cash’s back, to surf on him! Cobb hops off and Cash writhes. Cash sits up to throw body shots, then a haymaker! But Cobb HEADBUTTS Cash down! Cobb pushes Cash down for the GACHIMUCHI MONSAULT! Cover, TWO! Cobb is annoyed but he keeps focus as Cash goes to the apron. Cobb brings Cash up and suplexes Cash back up and in! Cobb carries Cash around before he TOSSES Cash away! Cash writhes, Cobb takes his time walking over, and uses only one foot for a very cocky cover. ONE, and Cobb is annoyed again.
Cobb CLUBS Cash down, then KNEES him in the back! And another knee! Cobb clamps on a chinlock and he squeezes tight. Cash endures, fights up to his feet, and throws elbows. Cash is free, runs, and he sunset flips! Cobb stays up, and stomps Cash down! Cash sputters but he refuses to give up. Cobb hauls Cash up, and wraps on a BEARHUG! Cash CLUBS away on Cobb fast, but Cobb RAMS him in the stomach! Cobb brings Cash up for a Canadian Rack, and lets it be a Canadian Torture Rack! Rampage returns to single picture as Cash endures and fans rally. Cash reaches out, but Cobb thrashes him around!
Cash fights, slips out and has a SLEEPER! Cash is a backpack on Cobb, but Cobb stays up! Cobb RAMS Cash into buckles, but Cash holds on! Cash uses the ropes for a boost to get the SLEEPER on higher and tighter! Cobb drops to his knees, but he gets up to RAM Cash into buckles again! Cobb is free, he RAMS into Cash again, then gets space. Fans rally, Cobb runs in but Cash sends him into buckles! Cash JABS, JABS and ROCKS Cobb, but Cobb JABS back! Cobb snarls, but Cash throws more forearms! Cobb ROCKS Cash back again! Cobb eggs Cash on and Cash fires up with the fans! Cash comes back to ROCK Cobb with forearms!
Cobb ROCKS Cash, Cash rebounds and ducks to hook the arms! Cobb fights the backslide every step of the way, and then he swings Cash around. Cash bobs ‘n’ weaves, fires body shots and an UPPERCUT! Cobb stays up so Cash CHOPS him, uppercuts again, and CHOPS again! Cash runs, but into a scoop! Cash slips off, to CHOP BLOCK a leg! Cash hurries to run, and he UPPERCUTS Cobb out of the ring! Fans fire up again and Cash takes aim, to PLANCHA! Rare FTR goes to the air but Cash made it worth it! Cash hurries to get Cobb up at the steel steps and rains down fists! Cash puts Cobb in and then he climbs the corner!
Cobb ROCKS Cash first! Cobb goes up the corner, he brings Cash in for a DEADLIFT, but Cash fights the superplex! Cash CLUBS away on Cobb’s bad leg, then bumps Cobb off buckles. Cash climbs up, SUNSET FLIP, but Cobb holds on! Cash manages to pull Cobb away from the corner, for the POWERBOMB!! Cover, TWO!! Cobb then reels Cash in, TOUR OF THE ISLANDS!!! Cover, Cobb wins!!
Winner: Jeff Cobb, by pinfall
Great-O-Khan walks out to celebrate with his tag partner, and gloats that the Empire will be taking the titles! But then Dax Harwood runs out and CLOBBERS Khan! The Ax won’t let the Dominator do what he wants to Cash, but then the rest of the Empire rushes out! Will Ospreay & Aussie Open mug Dax, but here comes ORANGE CASSIDY AND ROPPONGI VICE! Cassidy TACKLES Ospreay, and RPG Vice brawls with Aussie Open! Ospreay gets up after that rough landing on the ramp, and he kicks Cassidy back! Kingston CLUBS away on Jericho but Jericho uses someone’s food and beverage to SMACK Kingston in the head! Jericho gets away again, Khan fires off on Trent, Dax LASHES Davis again, and Cassidy kicks Jericho because they have history, too! Dax gets him some! That sparkly jacket is probably a dead giveaway that it’s Jericho! Cobb CHOKES Trent! Cassidy CHOKES Ospreay! Cash LASHES Khan! Dax gets Fletcher in the ring, for a PILEDRIVER!!
Jericho returns to commentary to shout, “You see what happens, Eddie Kingston?! YOU SEE WHAT HAPPENS TO YOU!? I’M GONNA GET YOU!!” But Jericho should be paying attention because Kingston gets him! The brawl continues where it started! Jericho runs away to the back and Kingston wants more pens! There are no more pens! But as it stands, The Mad King, FTR, Roppongi Vice and Freshly Squeezed stand tall over The Wizard, Chris Jericho, and Ospreay’s United Empire! Will Kingston, Cash, Dax, Trent, Rocky and Cassidy all get the delicious payback they desire? Or will the Jericho Appreciation Society, the Ospreay, Khan & Cobb continue to dominate AEW and NJPW?
My Thoughts:
What a great go-home for everything AEW is doing this next week. An awesome opener from Fenix VS Andrade, and I am very pleased to see Rush getting involved after he was introduced a week ago. Rush & Andrade as “La Faccion Ingobernable” (so as to be legally different from Los Ingobernables) taking on the Lucha Brothers is an epic match and a great way to get Rush going in-ring for AEW. We got a great promo from Eddie Kingston, but when don’t we? And we got a very good promo from Keith & Swerve to help us understand the dysfunction and distrust is still there. I’m pretty sure “Swerve in Our Glory” beats Kanemaru & Desperado, as Keith alone is a BIG man who could throw the Junior Heavyweights around easily.
Very good tag match from Deeb & Mercedes beating the locals, with a bit of their own dysfunction being on display. If AEW had more screen time for the Women’s Division, I’d say these two could lead the charge into an AEW Women’s Tag Division. But as I’ve been saying for Dark and Elevation, this is definitely leading into a story for the ROH Women’s World Championship and that’s just as cool. Tully Blanchard managing a faction in ROH but also now AEW because of the crossover is really cool, but I’m thinking Kaun & Toa lose to Gresham & Lee so that we see an awesome match in Gresham VS Lee for that ROH World Championship.
A hilarious promo from Acclaimed Gunn Club, they’ll surely win over the LA Dojo stars. Another fun match from Hook, and of course he won against The DKC, who is also going to be in that LA Dojo team. Maybe if AEW becomes an “excursion” destination, Hook can face more NJPW Young Lions and actually have a match that lasts 10 minutes. And then there was so much to love about the final segment. Cash VS Cobb was an awesome main event, but I figured Cobb would win as they all said it themselves, he’s had singles competition accomplishments. This could mean FTR wins the Triple Threat Winners Take All, but then what an awesome brawl of that entire field, plus Kingston and Jericho for the hell of it. Forbidden Door’s build may have had hiccups, but the actual PPV is going to be amazing.
My Score: 9.1/10
