QUICK NOTES

A good line-up here, though I’m surprised Matt Hardy hasn’t been on every single Elevation after how The Firm set that up as his story. But he and Private Party will win, so the Firm won’t have anything to complain about. Good to see AR Fox in action ahead of his AEW World Trios title match alongside Top Flight this Wednesday. And good to see Leon Ruff/Ruffin getting a title shot, he should get a good showing here even though Garcia is going to ultimately win out.

ROH Pure Championship: Daniel Garcia VS Leon Ruffin!

While the Dragonslayer has proven he is a great technician, he still insists he’s the greatest technical sports entertainer, not pro-wrestler. But will he be able to defend this title all about wrestling with some of that sports entertainment? Or will the underdog take advantage of an inflated ego and snatch away this title?

The introductions are made, the belt is raised, and we see if sports entertainers really do beat pro-wrestlers every time!

The judges for this match: Jerry Lynn, BJ Whitmer, and Christopher Daniels. The bell rings and Ruffin circles with Garcia. They feel out the grapple, Garcia shoots around to waistlock and SLAM Ruffin down. Garcia then rear mounts Ruffin and sits up to show he’s not even sweating this. Garcia then shifts to facelock and he gator rolls Ruffin around. Garcia then rear mounts again and he slaps Ruffin around! Garcia lets off Ruffin to “kick dirt” at him! Fans cheer the attitude but Ruffin gets up in a huff. The two reset and circle, and Garcia kicks low! And CHOPS! Garcia whips Ruffin but Ruffin reverses, only for Garcia to come back to CLOBBER Ruffin!

Fans rally as Garcia stalks Ruffin to a corner. Garcia digs his forearms in, lets off as the ref counts, and he whips Ruffin corner to corner. Fans chant at Garcia, “You’re a Wrestler!” while Ruffin goes up and out! Garcia runs in but into a HOTSHOT! Ruffin goes up, around, under and DROPKICKS Garcia down! Then arm-drags Garcia to an armlock! Fans fire up for Ruffin as he shows his own technical skill. Garcia fights up and he pulls on Ruffin’s ear! The ref reprimands but Garcia puts Ruffin in a corner. The ref counts, Garcia throws body shots! Ruffin BOOTS back! Ruffin goes up but Garcia SHOVES him down to the floor!

Fans boo but Garcia taunts Ruffin by putting his dukes up. The ring count starts but Garcia goes out to fetch Ruffin. Garcia RAMS Ruffin into the railing, then CHOKES him on it! Garcia neck wrenches Ruffin, then brings Ruffin over to APRON BACK SUPLEX! Ruffin flounders into the ring and Garcia slides in after him. Cover, TWO! Garcia sits Ruffin up to KICK him in the back! Ruffin goes to ropes but Garcia kicks at him. Garcia is toying with Ruffin, but he drags Ruffin up to whip. Ruffin holds ropes to stop that! Garcia tries again, but Ruffin still holds on! The ref reprimands but Garcia CLUBS Ruffin’s arm and DECKS him!

Garcia stomps away on Ruffin! The ref counts, Garcia lets off at 4, and fans are torn between cheers and jeers. Garcia smirks, drags Ruffin up, and CHOPS him against ropes. Garcia runs, into an ENZIGURI! Ruffin ELBOWS, throws body shots, but Garcia shoves him away. Ruffin comes back to CLOBBER Garcia with a forearm! And another! Ruffin stands Garcia up, then runs to the corner to go up, up and FLY, into a SLEEPER! Garcia shoves Ruffin to ropes, but Ruffin yoyos to LARIAT Garcia down! Ruffin drags Garcia up, runs to another corner, up and up and RUFF CUTTER!! Cover, TWO!! Garcia survives!

Ruffin keeps focused as fans rally up. Garcia sputters to a corner, Ruffin throws down fists, but the ref has them break. Garcia cheap shots Ruffin with a haymaker! The ref warns Garcia, that’s his one! If he gets another, that’ll be a disqualification. But Garcia smirks, he knew what he was doing. BUTTERFLY SUPLEX into buckles! Cover, TWO! Ruffin is still in this and Garcia is furious! Garcia throws down HAMMER ‘N’ ANVIL ELBOWS! And he says he’s not a wrestler! Garcia clamps on a SLEEPER, but Ruffin rolls back! Cover, TWO, and Garcia holds on to drag Ruffin back in! SLEEPER with body scissors!!

Ruffin flails, but he’s fading already! Wait, Ruffin gets a second wind! Garcia is a backpack but Ruffin stands up! Fans fire up as Ruffin steps forward, only for Garcia to put on the DRAGON SLEEPER!! Ruffin falls back, and is OUT! Garcia wins!

Winner: Daniel Garcia, by submission (still ROH Pure Champion)

Garcia turns Ruffin over to shake his hand, keeping the Code of Honor! No ropebreaks needed, but will any challenger even pose a challenge to the Dragonslayer?
