Two weeks in a row for AEW Dark: Elevation, Athena defends the ROH Women’s World Championship! Will the Fallen Goddess still reign in San Antonio?

QUICK NOTES

Some solid matches in this one. Good to see AEW/ROH is more or less going forward with what I hoped. Dralistico VS Blake Christian is a partial rematch from ROH Final Battle, so maybe we will get a feud of LFI VS Christian & AR Fox. Maybe even bring Top Flight into it since they’ve been teaming with Fox, so that Preston Vance and maybe some other new LFI members can join in. Konosuke VS Kazarian is going to be really good stuff. Bunny in solo action is good, and Soho & Nightingale having their first team-up here is a good tune-up for taking on Tay Melo & Anna Jay this Wednesday.

And I’m surprised Kiera Hogan is up next for the ROH Women’s title, but maybe this somehow helps bridge her over to the TBS Championship and the obviously needs to happen feud with Jade Cargill.

ROH Women’s World Championship: Athena VS Kiera Hogan!

The Fallen Goddess continues fighting on Dark: Elevation and building her reign! But will the reign continue to pour down pain and punishment on Athena’s opponents? Or will Kiera bounce back from being booted out of The Baddies and become a champion in her own right?

The introductions are made, the belt is raised, and we see if Kiera can set fire to the reign!

Athena offers the Code of Honor handshake, Kiera accepts it, but then Athena shows forearm! Kiera flinches and Athena laughs at her, but then the bell rings and Kiera DROPKICKS Athena down! Athena goes to a corner, Keira runs in but Athena dodges. Kiera BOOTS back, goes up top, and FLYING RANAS! Fans fire up as Athena goes to ropes. Kiera runs side to side to HIP ATTACK! Athena ducks the roundhouse but the HEEL KICK sends Athena out of the ring! Fans fire up, Kiera runs and slides to WRECK Athena with another dropkick! Fans fire up as Kiera pursues, and she brings Athena up to ROCK her with a forearm!

Kiera whips but Athena blocks to reverses! Kiera hits railing hard! Athena CLUBS Kiera, then suplexes her to hang her out to dry on railing! Athena CLUBS away, she makes the cameraman move to get the right angle on this. Athena runs in to SHOTGUN Kiera off the railing! Fans fire up and Athena tells the ref to get Kiera in the ring. Athena relaxes, Kiera drags herself up and over the railing, and the count begins. Kiera flounders her way over at 6 of 10, and crawls in at 7. Fans are sad they didn’t get to shout “OCHO,” but Athena hammers away on Kiera! Athena drags Kiera up, whips her to the corner, then forearm smashes!

Athena snapmares Kiera, KICKS her in the back, and scowls while fans fire up. Athena drags Kiera into a chinlock and fishhooks Kiera’s mouth! The ref reprimands, Athena lets off to dribble Kiera’s face off the mat! SENTON! Cover, TWO! Athena is annoyed and she kicks Kiera around. Kiera throws a body shot but Athena stomps and CLUBS her! Athena digs her fingers into Kiera then SLAMS her down! Athena clamps on with a neck wrench and she leans on the hold. Kiera endures the twist, fans rally up, and Kiera fights with elbows! Kiera stands, but Athena throws her down by her hair! But Kiera avoids the senton!

Kiera runs, dodges, and tilt-o-whirl DDTs! Both women are down and fans fire up! Athena stands, Kiera rallies with back elbows! Fans rally up, Kiera whips but Athena reverses. Kiera ROCKS Athena with forearm after forearm, then wrenches to WRING Athena into buckles! Fans fire up and Kiera runs Around the World, BASEMENT DROPKICK! Kiera ROUNDHOUSES Athena, SUPERKICKS her, then covers! TWO!! Athena survives but Kiera fires up! Fans rally with her and she climbs the corner. Athena springs up to grab Kiera’s hair! SUPER HAIR WHIP! Athena then climbs up the corner as she watches Kiera rise.

But Kiera ROCKS Athena first! Kiera climbs up to fire forearms! Kiera then stands on the very top, but Athena throws body shots! SUPER POWERBOMB!! Athena shouts in Kiera’s face, drags her up, gut wrench to the CLIFFHANGER CODE BREAKER!! Cover, Athena wins!

Winner: Athena, by pinfall (still ROH Women’s World Champion)

Kiera had fire, but Athena found a way to put it out! The reign continues, but so does the mean streak! Athena DECKS Kiera! Athena drags Kiera over to the title, gives her a kiss goodnight, and SMASHES her on the belt! Athena gives Kiera her “Seal of Approval,” and then raises the belt up high. Will anyone be able to bring down the Fallen Goddess?
