After a week off, Hockey Talk returns to break down the insanity that was the 1st Round of the 2022-23 NHL Playoffs. Although this was recorded prior to the three Game 7s being played, there was still plenty to discuss as the Boston Bruins sat on the precipice of a historic collapse against the Florida Panthers (a collapse that came to fruition) and the Colorado Avalanche were in similar jeopardy against the upstart Seattle Krakken (another mammoth upset that came to be). How did the Cats defeat the best regular season team in NHL history? Why did the defending champs get way more than they could handle from the expansion team from the Pacific Northwest? All that plus, dominant performances by the Vegas Golden Knights, Dallas Stars, and Edmonton Oilers set the stage for some awesome second round matchups. Oh and along the way, the Toronto Maple Leafs ended a 19 year drought and finally won a series. With the monkey off their back, could the Leafs be Canada’s best hope to bring home a Stanley Cup for the first time since 1993?
