NXT Global Heritage Invitational Tournament, Group B: Joe Coffey w/ Gallus VS Akira Tozawa!

The Iron King already has a win on the board, and the Stamina Monster has already lost once. If Coffey wins again, he dooms both Tozawa and Nathan Frazer to being OUT of the running! Will Coffey clear out the competition? Or can Tozawa pull of the biggest upset in the tournament yet?

The bell rings and we’re on the clock! Coffey and Tozawa circle and fans rally up. Coffey tests the waters with jabs but Tozawa stays back. They tie up, end up on ropes, and Coffey lets off. They reset, circle again, and tie up. Coffey goes after an arm, wrenches to a wristlock then he talks trash. Tozawa rolls, wrenches and wristlocks in return, and he avoids Joe’s haymakers! Tozawa wrenches but Coffey powers through to a headlock. Tozawa throws hands, powers out, but Coffey runs him over! Fans fire up as Coffey folds his arms, and he runs Tozawa over again! Coffey then drags Tozawa up and TOSSES him to a corner!

Coffey storms in, but Tozawa BOOTS him away! Tozawa goes up to FLYING RANA! And then DROPKICK! Tozawa folds his arm sand Mark Coffey has to keep Wolfgang back! Coffey runs in but Tozawa sunset flips! Coffey rolls through, grabs the legs, but Tozawa kicks Coffey away! Coffey staggers around, Tozawa runs up to wheelbarrow, but Coffey swings him around! Then FACEBUSTER! Cover, TWO!! Tozawa stays in this but Coffey stays on Tozawa. Coffey drags Tozawa around, CLUBS the arm, then KNEES him in the back! Coffey hauls Tozawa up, whips him to a corner, then whips him back in!

Fans rally but Coffey scoops to BACKBREAKER! Cover, TWO! Tozawa is still in this but Coffey pushes him down to stomp him! And stomp again! Coffey clamps on with a half nelson, then a full nelson. Fans rally as Tozawa endures, and Tozawa powers up to then jump, drop and victory roll! TWO! Tozawa KICKS! And KICKS! Coffey blocks and headlocks but Tozawa powers out. Coffey goes up the corner, comes back and UPPERCUTS! Tozawa staggers, Coffey whips but Tozawa holds ropes to KICK Coffey back! Coffey runs back in, Tozawa sidesteps to back drop Coffey away! Fans fire up with Tozawa as Mark again has to keep Wolfie down!

Tozawa ROCKS Coffey, ROCKS him again, then dodges to run and RANA! Fans fire up and Tozawa keeps moving, SHINING WIZARD! Coffey falls out of the ring, so Tozawa builds speed! TOZAWA TORPEDO! Fans fire up for the direct hit at the ramp! Mark is barely keeping Wolfgang back as Tozawa puts Joe in the ring! Tozawa climbs the corner, leaps, MISSILE DROPKICK! Cover, TWO! Coffey hangs in there and Tozawa is annoyed, but this does help Wolfgang calm down. Tozawa and Coffey rise, Tozawa brings Coffey up but Coffey shoves him away, to then POP-UP UPPERCUT! And HEADBUTT!

Coffey fires up, fans are torn, and Coffey waistlocks. Tozawa fights the lift with elbows, but Coffey ducks the spin kick! Tozawa slides under, gets around, GERMAN SUPLEX! Bridging cover, TWO!! Gallus is relieved but fans rally up for Tozawa. Tozawa looks to the corner but Coffey anchors a foot! Tozawa kicks and stomps Coffey, gets free, and Tozawa goes up the corner! Fans rally, but Coffey UPPERCUTS! Coffey climbs, CLUBS Tozawa, but Tozawa throws hands! Coffey HEADBUTTS back! Coffey joins Tozawa on the very top, SUPER BELLY2BELLY!! Coffey is all fired up, and he hits ALL THE BEST FOR THE BELLS!! Cover, Coffey wins!

Winner: Joe Coffey, by pinfall (gains 2 points, Tozawa earns 0)

Gallus celebrates as the Iron King secures two more points, and a spot in the finals! The only one who can stop him now is Duke Hudson, will the Chase U MVP fail to stop this from becoming Gallus’ kingdom?

Here are the NEW Group B standings!

Joe Coffey: 2-0, 4 points
Duke Hudson: 1-1, 2 points
Nathan Frazer: 1-1, 2 points
Akira Tozawa: 0-2, 0 points [ELIMINATED]

My Thoughts:

A really good match from Coffey and Tozawa, and not that surprising that Coffey won, even though that would eliminate Frazer from the running, too. Unless, is there going to be more than a single time around? Are we going until everyone’s faced everyone in their group twice? I don’t think there’s enough time on the road to No Mercy for that, even with a match on Level Up every week. Plus, Tyler Bate still has to face all his opponents in Group A, that’s three matches, and we only have three weeks left, so that’s a match each Tuesday. Now, with Duke still in the running, it’d be awesome if HE was the one to win in Group B.
