Hockey Talk turns into Sports Talk this week as the guys discuss Illinois downing Michigan, a Yankees vs Dodgers World Series, and NHL Frozen Frenzy.

This week’s installment of Hockey Talk is more of a conversation about sports in general, as the guys have their fingers on the pulse of everything. Patrick is giddy about his beloved Illinois Fighting Illini, announcing to the world that they have arrived as the #20 Illini took down the defending champion Michigan Wolverines, the Illini’s first win against Michigan since 2009! The guys also discuss just what it means to the baseball world to have a New York Yankees vs Los Angeles Dodgers World Series. There is hockey to talk about, as well, as the New York Rangers and Utah Hockey Club continue to look strong in the season’s opening weeks, while the Nashville Predators look to be historically bad. Dave acknowledges his Washington Capitals might be better than he thought, and the guys look forward to Frozen Frenzy on Tuesday. With all 32 teams in action, which games will be worth watching? The fellas tell you that and much more this week on Hockey Talk.

This week’s BWN was live again and very lively. The guys took a look at new trailers for Paul McCartney: Band on the Run, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2, and The Bluff. There is then an extended conversation about the latest Avengers: Doomsday trailer featuring the Wakandans and the Fantastic Four, and whether this trailer should have been released a week earlier. In News Around the Nerdosphere, the fallout from the Netflix/WB situation continues, with A24 indicating it will remain on HBO Max and Netflix promising it will continue to allow WB movies a 45-day theatrical window. The biggest news of the week, though, relates to our favorite galaxy far, far, away. Kathleen Kennedy confirmed she is leaving the franchise, and Dave Filoni will be taking the reins. Does this represent a new hope for Star Wars fans worldwide? All that plus the opening round of the Video Game bracket for Battle Royal Madness gets decided, and the upset bug has hit early! Tune in!

This week’s BWN was a special one for a few reasons. It marked the first time the show was broadcast live on X and YouTube, sure. But it also saw the long-awaited official debut of the X-Men in the MCU. The latest trailer for Avengers: Doomsday featured familiar characters, including Professor X, Magneto, and Cyclops. The guys break it all down for you, as well as some other big trailers for titles like Unreal Season 2, They Will Kill You, and an interesting UAP/UFO documentary, Starman (no….not a remake of the 1984 sci-fi classic). Meanwhile, the saga with WB, Paramount, and Netflix rolls onward as WB rejected an 8th attempt from Paramount for a hostile buyout, and a very prominent director drew a line in the sand against Netflix. Is Rey finally ready to admit that a stand-alone Blade movie is dead? Are you ready for AI to help get you through your favorite PlayStation games when you get stuck? Is the Batman 2 cast ridiculously stacked with the addition of Sebastian Stan (possibly as Harvey Dent)? And who won the play-in battles for the #16 seeds in our Battle Royal Madness tournament?
