Quietly making his way out with LIJ is the team leader, Tetsuya Naito. The former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion rather purposefully takes his seat in front of commentary rather than with them. The teams sort out and after LIJ fist bumps, Hiromu starts against Capitan. They circle, tie up, and Hiromu waistlocks to SLAM! But Capitan does pushups? Hiromu flips Capitan over but Capitan arm-drags him away! The fans applaud, Hiromu sweeps but Capitan rolls back. Hiromu wrenches, wristlocks, but Capitan uses the ropes to flip and arm-drag! The fans fire up as Capitan waits on Hiromu.

Things speed up, Hiromu bypasses Capitan then avoids the scarecrow rebound! Capitan dodges Hiromu, tilt-o-whirls and RANAS! The fans fire up as Hiromu bails out. Capitan builds speed but Hiromu slides in. Hiromu RANAS, but Capitan handsprings through! The fans cheer as the two stare down. Hiromu and Capitan back away, and they tag to Bushi and Tiger Mask. The fans rally as Bushi and Tiger circle. Bushi kicks low, CLUBS away on Tiger, then runs, only for Tiger to SOBAT! Bushi drops to his knees, and Tiger KICKS, KICKS, and KICKS! Bushi flounders away, Tiger runs up, but Bushi dodges.

Bushi runs in but Tiger dodges! Hiromu runs up but into a scoop and BACKBREAKER! The fans rally, Tiger dodges Bushi and sends him into Hiromu! Capitan DROPKICKS Hiromu down! The fans fire up, and Tiger ROUNDHOUSES Bushi! Tiger reels Bushi in and underhooks, for a BUTTERFLY SUPLEX! Cover, TWO, but into the KIMURA! Bushi endures, fights over, and has the ROPEBREAK! The fans applaud while Tiger lets go. Tiger brings Bushi up, ROCKS him with haymakers, then DECKS him! Tiger drags Bushi up, kicks low, then bumps him off buckles. Tag to Capitan and he stomps Bushi.

Capitan brings Bushi around but Bushi kicks. Bushi whips, Capitan reverses to kick, KICK and ENZIGIRI! Bushi falls, Capitan covers, TWO! The fans applaud as Bushi stays in this. Capitan tags Tiger back in, and he stomps Bushi around. Tiger runs, but into a kick! Hiromu dropkicks the legs out, and Bushi basement dropkicks! Hiromu then dropkicks Capitan off the apron! Bushi stomps Tiger around, then he drags Tiger up to bump off buckles. Bushi CHOPS Tiger, then tags Hiromu. The fans rally as Hiromu brings Tiger around, and Tiger CHOPS! Hiromu CHOPS, they CHOP back and forth, but then Hiromu CHOPS Tiger off his feet!

Hiromu stands Tiger up to CHOP again! And CHOP again! Hiromu whips Tiger to ropes to ELBOW him down! Cover, TWO! Tiger toughs it out, but Hiromu ELBOWS Capitan off the apron. Hiromu CHOPS Tiger, then tags Bushi. Bushi DOUBLE CHOPS! Bushi snapmares Tiger to then dig a knee into his back. Tiger endures the chinlock, so Bushi shifts to a headscissor squeeze! Tiger endures, kicks around, and reaches out, to the ROPEBREAK! The ref counts, Bushi lets go at 4, and he brings Tiger back up. Bushi whips, Tiger reverses, and Tiger scoops to hit a BACKBREAKER! Both men are down and the fans fire up!

Tiger rises up, tags Capitan, and Capitan goes up! CROSSBODY! But Hiromu catches Capitan to hook the arms. Bushi storms up but Capitan boots him away! Capitan elbows free of Hiromu, runs up on Bushi but Bushi dodges. Capitan comes back and he uses Bushi to tilt-o-whirl and RANA Hiromu! Hiromu tumbles out, Capitan runs, scarecrow and CUTTER! The fans fire up as LIJ regroups outside, and Capitan goes out to SUPER TRUST FALL! Direct hit and LIJ is down! The fans fire up and the airhorn is back! The ring count climbs, but Capitan puts Bushi in at 10 of 20. Cover, TWO! Bushi stays in this but Capitan stays cool.

Capitan hauls Bushi up to a fireman’s carry, LANDSLIDE! Capitan then hurries up top, for the SWANTON FLOP as Bushi moves! The fans rally up as Capitan writhes and Bushi goes to the corner. Capitan runs in but Bushi BOOTS him! Bushi goes up to FLYING RANA! Both men are down again and the fans rally. Bushi rises and brings Capitan up. Capitan breaks free to SUPERKICK! Bushi dodges to kick but Capitan blocks. Capitan ducks the enzigiri but not the REWIND HEEL! Both men are down again and the fans rally up. Bushi and Capitan crawl, hot tags to Tiger and Hiromu! Tiger dodges but HIormu dropkicks legs out!

Hiromu goes to a corner, runs corner to corner and LARIATS! Snapmare and basement DROPKICK! Cover, TWO! Tiger stays in this but Hiromu drags him up. Fireman’s carry, but Tiger slips free! Tiger shoves Hiromu to a corner but Hiromu BOOTS! Hiromu runs, Tiger dodges, but then Hiromu catches Tiger. Hiromu wrenches but Tiger wrangles Hiromu to a FUJIWARA! Hiromu scrambles to the ROPEBREAK! The ref counts, Tiger lets go, and the fans cheer. Tiger KICKS, and KICKS, and wrenches Hiromu, to then knee low and ARMBAR TAKEDOWN! Hiromu scrambles but Tiger has him caught in body scissors and he pulls on the arm!

Bushi storms in to stomp Tiger! Tiger holds onto Hiromu and Capitan CLUBS Bushi. Capitan TOSSES Bushi, Tiger lets Hiromu go, and they get Hiromu up. They double whip, bypass, and then SPINEBUSTER, into a roll and feed! Underhooks and TIGER DRIVER! Cover, BUSHI BREAKS IT! Just barely in time at that! Capitan TOSSES Bushi again, then PLANCHAS but gets nothing! Tiger chicken wings Hiromu but Hiromu RAMS him into a corner. Bushi runs in, to ELBOW Tiger! Snapmare and DOUBLE BASEMENT DROPKICK! The fans fire up and Hiromu eggs Capitan on. Capitan storms in to CHOP and CHOP and CHOP!

Capitan runs, but into a SUPERKICK ENZIGIRI COMBO! Hiromu brings Tiger around, fireman’s carries, but Tiger slips free! Tiger ducks an elbow, throws a kick, but Hiromu blocks! Tiger throws a haymaker but Hiromu blocks! DRAGON SCREW! The fans fire up as Hiromu ties up the legs, and then Bushi intercepts Capitan! Bushi puts Capitan in FABLE while Hiromu has Tiger in the MTH LOCK! Capitan taps, but he’s not legal! Tiger almost has the ropes, but Hiromu drags him back! Tiger taps, LIJ wins!

How things can change in an instant. 100 Proof & 44 Caliber were IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions just last week, but their loss to the Intergalactic Jet Setters derailed all their plans for this year’s “Tag Season.” Can Connors & Moloney redeem themselves? Or will The Murder Machine & Heel Master only pile on the misery?

The House of Torture offer handshakes, because they’re all Bullet Club. But The War Dogs know better than that, so they kick Sho & Kanemaru! The bell rings as Connors TOSSES Sho and Drilla TOSSES Kanemaru! The War Dogs go out after the House of Torture and stomp away. Drilla eggs on Kanemaru, then has a standing toehold! Connors BOOTS Sho, then makes him take a seat in the front row. Connors CHOPS Sho into the second row! Fans applaud, and Drilla puts Kanemaru in the ring. Drilla stomps Kanemaru more, then drags him up for a snapmare. Drilla runs to drop a knee on Kanemaru’s face! Cover, TWO!

Drilla taunts Kanemaru by offering a handshake. Kanemaru slaps the hand away so Drilla stomps him down. Drilla drags Kanemaru up to bump him off Connors’ boot! Tag to Connors, and Drilla wraps an arm around the ropes. The ref reprimands Drilla, but Connors CHOPS! Connors snapmares, runs up, and JUMP ELBOW DROPS! Cover, TWO! Connors clamps onto Kanemaru with a chinlock and grinds him down. Kanemaru pulls hair but the ref reprimands. Connors thrashes Kanemaru around, Drilla distracts the ref by stepping to Sho, and Connors BITES Kanemaru’s forehead! Connors stops before the ref notices.

Kanemaru endures, fights up, but Connors shifts to a headlock. Kanemaru fires body shots, but Connors CLUBS him! Connors whips Kanemaru to the corner, Drilla holds him, but Kanemaru elbows free! Kanemaru BOOTS Connors, but Connors knees low in return! Connors runs, but Kanemaru sends the ref into him! Down goes Marty Asami! Kanemaru waistlocks, Connors switches, but Kanemaru shoves Connors to ropes! Sho SMACKS Connors with a chair! Kanemaru BLASTS Drilla, and Sho drags Connors out, to run him all the way to the wall! The fans boo while Connors flounders, but then Sho grabs an empty chair to CHOKE Connors with!

Sho throws the chair aside, drags Connors back up, and he brings Connors back to ringside. Sho POSTS Connors and Connors flounders away. Sho drags Connors back up, puts him in the ring, and Kanemaru covers. TWO, and the fans applaud! Kanemaru drags Connors up, tags Sho in, and Sho ELBOWS Connors in the back! And CLUBS him on the neck! Sho BLASTS Drilla, but Drilla’s right back up! The ref stops Drilla but Drilla pushes the ref down! Drilla goes after Sho but Sho CLAWS Drilla’s eyes! Sho TOSSES Drilla while Kanemaru has Connors on the apron. Kanemaru fires knees into Connors, then Sho hurries over.

Sho lifts Kanemaru for an assisted GUILLOTINE LEG DROP! The fans applaud, that’s actually really clever, and The House leaves Connors behind. Sho wants the ref to count, and then he tags Kanemaru in. The ring count begins, Kanemaru wants it to speed up. Connors sits up at 4 of 20, slowly rises to stand at 11, and he snarls as he storms back to the ring. Connors slides in at 15, but Kanemaru is there to DDT! Cover, TWO! Kanemaru drags Connors up to whip and ELBOW! Then he BLASTS Drilla! The ref stops Drilla, Sho stomps Connors behind the ref’s back! The House stomps away, even as the fans boo.

Kanemaru sits Connors up to KNEE him in the back again and again! Kanemaru clamps on the chinlock, just to ELBOW Connors in the head! Tag to Sho, and Sho runs up to hit Drilla! Drilla doesn’t fall, but the ref stops him again. Sho CHOKES Connors in the corner, then stops just before the ref sees. Cover, ONE!! Connors is furious now but Sho tags Kanemaru. Kanemaru storms up but Connors fires a body shot. Kanemaru stomps Connors, kicks him around, and knees low. Kanemaru runs, but Connors goes the other way! JEEP FLIPPER! The fans fire up while both men are down! Connors and Kanemaru crawl, hot tags to Sho and Drilla!

Drilla CLOBBERS Sho, CLOBBERS him again, then fires up! The fans are with Drilla as he whips Sho corner to corner. Drilla runs to forearm SMASH! Drilla reels Sho in and the fans fire up, but Sho wrenches out! Sho waistlocks, Drilla switches, but Drilla shoves Sho away. Drilla hurdles, drops, and DROPKICKS! The fans fire up, Drilla covers, TWO! Sho stays in this but Drilla stays focused. But here comes Kanemaru! The ref reprimands as Kanemaru kicks Drilla. Drilla ROCKS Kanemaru, runs, but Kanemaru dropkicks the legs out! Sho & Kanemaru have Drilla in a corner, then whip him corner to corner.

Kanemaru runs up but Drilla CLOBBERS him! Sho runs up to kick low, then he runs, but Connors is there! SNAP POWERSLAM! The fans fire up and the War Dogs lock ‘n’ load! They watch Sho, but Kanemaru drags Connors out! Drilla stomps Kanemaru, whips him, scoops him, but Kanemaru tilt-o-whirl DDTS! Sho hurries to haul Drilla up, PILEDRIVER! Cover, TWO!! Sho drags Drilla into SNAKEBITE! Kanemaru intercepts Connors with a trip and FIGURE FOUR! The House has the War Dogs caught! But Connors grabs Drilla’s hand to keep him from giving up! They both move around, ROPEBREAK!

The ref counts, Sho lets go at 4, and Drilla can breath again. Sho vows to end this, and he drags Drilla up. Sho reels Drilla in, tucks the arms, but Drilla fights the lift! Drilla powers up to BACKDROP Sho away! The fans fire up, Drilla runs in at the corner, but Sho BOOTS him! Sho runs, ducks ‘n’ dodges, and SPEARS! Sho laughs and brings Drilla up to tuck the arms, STRAITJACKET PILEDRIVER! Cover, Connors breaks it! The fans fire up, but Kanemaru TOSSES Connors back out. Kanemaru grabs his whiskey! But it’s a distraction so Sho can grab his Torture Tool! Sho aims with the wrench, but Drilla dodges!

Drilla waistlocks Sho, but Kanemaru shoves the ref down! Kanemaru takes a swig, but Drilla ducks, so Sho takes the WHISKEY MIST! The fans fire up, Drilla dodges the bottle shot! Drilla GORES Kanemaru while Connors SPEARS Sho! The fans fire up again and the War Dogs say “Let’s EFFIN’ KILL these mother effers!” They aim, and GORE SPEAR COMBO!! But they’re not done with Sho! Connors climbs, Drilla suplexes, FULL CLIP!! Cover, War Dogs win!

Funky Weapon 69 teams with The Infinity Carat Diamond, mostly to show Hiromu that they’re not the same person. But will they make for an unstoppable combination? Or will the Ichiban Sweet Boys show that they are mighty, and that The Mighty Don’t Kneel?

The teams sort out and Dia starts against Fujita. The bell rings and the fans rally as the two circle. They tie up, and Fujita powers Dia to ropes. Red Shoes counts, Fujita lets off, but then he CHOPS! Fujita eggs Dia on and Dia storms up. They tie up again, but Fujita puts Dia back on ropes. Dia turns that around on Fujita, then lets off, to CHOP! The fans applaud as Dia returns the favor. Fujita storms up and fires a forearm! Dia CHOPS in return! They go back and forth, forearm for CHOP, then Dia CHOPS, CHOPS, and CHOPS! Fujita runs up to CHOP back! Fujita runs, Dia drops, hurdles, and runs, to duck ‘n’ dodge ‘n’ roll, but Fujita throws him away!

Fujita dodges a lariat, wrenches an arm, waistlocks, but Dia fights the German Suplex! Fujita ducks an elbow, Dia dodges a backhand, and the fans cheer the standoff. Dia and Fujita catch their breath, and Dia rolls to his corner to tag Taguchi. The fans cheer, and Fujita tags in Eagles. The Sniper of the Skies takes his time stepping in so he can hear the fans cheer more. Then he starts up “ROBBIE ROBBIE ROBBIE!” “OI OI OI!” “ROBBIE ROBBIE ROBBIE!” “OI OI OI!” “ROBBIE!” “OI!” “ROBBIE!” “OI!” “ROBBIE ROBBIE ROBBIE!” “OI OI OI!” The fans applaud, as does Taguchi. Taguchi then says hold on.

“KETSU KETSU KETSU!” “OI OI OI!” “KETSU KETSU KETSU!” “OI OI OI!” “KETSU!” “OI!” “KETSU!” “OI!” “KETSU KETSU KETSU!” “OI OI OI!” The fans cheer for ketsu, aka ass, and Robbie’s confused. Taguchi is confident that his chant got more than Robbie’s. Robbie is upset but he circles with Taguchi. They tie up, Taguchi waistlocks but Robbie wrenches to wristlock. Taguchi rolls, rolls back, but that makes the wrench worse! Robbie steps over, traps the arm, and he SPANKS the ketsu! Robbie steps back over, but Taguchi rolls, trips Robbie, and has a toehold. Robbie tries to fight back with a chinlock but Taguchi cranks the leg.

Robbie uses his free leg to hook Taguchi but Taguchi folds Robbie to a cover, TWO! Taguchi holds onto Robbie with a facelock but Robbie rolls to turn that around on Taguchi. Robbie shifts to a headlock, but Taguchi fires bodv shots. Taguchi powers up and out, drops down, then bypasses to drop down. And then bypasses to drop down! Robbie stops because he knows what Taguchi’s up to. Robbie wags his finger, but Taguchi trips him! Cover, ONE! Taguchi HIP ATTACKS! Taguchi snapmares Robbie, HIP ATTACKS again, then tags Dia. The fans rally as Taguchi & Dia pinball Robbie between hip attacks!

The fans cheer as Dia & Taguchi DOUBLE HIP ATTACK! Taguchi BLASTS Fujita off the apron, and Dia has the legs! Dia turns Robbie over, grabs the arms, and MEXICAN SWINGING SURFBOARDS Robbie into Taguchi’s ketsu!  And again, and again! Taguchi can only take so much impact so they stop at three times. Robbie gets up, Dia blocks a kick and CHOPS! Dia whips, but Fujita tags in! Robbie reels Dia in, Fujita CHOPS Dia into the SAIDO! Fujita DROPKICKS Taguchi off the corner, then wrenches Dia’s arm. Fujita whips, ELBOWS Dia down, then runs to PENALTY KICK! Cover, TWO! Dia stays in this and the fans rally up.

Fujita drags Dia up, facelocks, and he tags Robbie in. Robbie KICKS Dia in the leg! Robbie mocks Taguchi by showing off his own ketsu, and Red Shoes keeps Taguchi from stepping to Robbie. Robbie snapmares Dia to run and BASEMENT GAMANGIRI! Cover, TWO! Dia survives but Robbie tags Fujita. The Sweet Boys double whip, then DOUBLE ELBOW! Then they split the wishbone, before a PENALTY KICK SANDWICH! Cover, Taguchi breaks it! Fujita is upset but Taguchi steps away. Fujita DECKS Taguchi all the same! Fujita CHOPS Dia and Dia falls down. Tag to Robbie and he has Dia on the ropes.

Robbie gives taunting kicks and Dia gets mad. Dia stands, CHOPS, but Robbie brushes that off. Dia CHOPS again, and again! So Robbie trips Dia, runs, but Dia drops, hurdles, only for Robbie to make it a SPINEBUSTER! Cover, TWO! But then step over, right into the RON MILLER SPECIAL! Dia flails, crawls, reaches out, but Taguchi runs in! Fujita knocks Taguchi down, but Dia has the ROPEBREAK! Robbie lets go, the fans rally up, and Robbie runs corner to corner. But Dia BOOTS him away! Robbie comes back, Dia BOOTS him, then RANAS! The fans fire up again, and Dia hurries for his corner. Hot tag to Taguchi!

Taguchi runs in to HIP ATTACK a the corner! Fujita CHOPS Taguchi! Fujita whips, Taguchi reverses, and Taguchi HIP ATTACKS Fujita! Taguchi gives Fujita a Stink Face! Robbie runs up but Taguchi BOOTS him! Taguchi then goes up, and headscissors Robbie for the DEADLY KETSU! KETSU! KETSU! The fans fire up, Robbie falls back, and Taguchi knees Fujita. Taguchi brings Fujita around to BULLDOG him into Robbie’s eagle eggs! The fans fire up and Taguchi covers Robbie, TWO! Taguchi drags Robbie up, brings him around, and suplexes, only for Robbie to fight it! Robbie tries to suplex but Taguchi fights it!

Robbie tries, Taguchi tries, but Taguchi then dropkicks Robbie’s leg! ANKLE LOCK! Robbie endures as Taguchi leans on the leg. Taguchi then hooks arms! But Robbie slips around to schoolboy bridge! TWO, but Robbie holds onto a leg! Taguchi kicks Robbie away, but then Robbie ROUNDHOUSES! SUPERKICKS! PELES! The fans fire up, and Taguchi ENZIGIRIS back! Taguchi roars, runs, but the hip attack meets atomic drop! Taguchi powers up, and drop toeholds to OH MY GAH ANKLE!! Robbie reaches out, Fujita runs in and BODY BLOW! Dia runs up but Fujita kicks him and tosses him out!

Fujita drags Taguchi up, fires forearms, and he puts Taguchi in a corner. The Sweet Boys double whip, Fujita runs up, but Taguchi dodges! Robbie runs in but Taguchi drop toeholds him into Fujita’s gut! Dia runs up, CALF KICK to Fujita, that he turns into a sunset flip for Robbie! Robbie rolls through, only to get a HIP ATTACK! Dia feeds Fujita to a HIP ATTACK! The fans fire up and Taguchi coordinates with Dia. Taguchi triangle jumps to PLANCHA Robbie while Dia ASAI MOONSAULTS Fujita! The fans fire up with Dia & Taguchi as they regroup. Taguchi puts Robbie in the ring, then tags Dia in.

Taguchi hauls Robbie up to GOURD BUSTER! Dia slingshots for the TORNILLO SPLASH! Cover, TWO! Robbie survives but Dia fires up! The fans are with Dia as he goes up and takes aim! D D D- NO, Robbie avoids the 4DT, but Dia comes back. Robbie trips Dia, but Dia boots him into buckles! Dia SOBATS, but Robbie blocks! Robbie SOBATS, cravats, ASAI DDT! As for the Ichiban Sweet Boys, Robbie has the mic first, and says he will forgive the fans for the “Ketsu Ketsu Ketsu” thing. That said, “hisashiburi,” long time no see! The fans cheer, and Robbie continues in Japanese to say that was fun, huh? The fans applaud again and Robbie says for English speakers: Zack Sabre Jr. started a movement beyond NJPW, beyond ALL of pro-wrestling, but more importantly, he kicked off the TMDK Era! The fans applaud that, and Robbie says this here is just the beginning. Ichiban Sweet Boys, TOP of the A Block! The fans applaud, and now Robbie hands things over to Fujita.

The fans cheer and chant for Fujita, and he says, “Zack, Mikey and Shane all have belts. It’s time for us to be at the top, too. Robbie and I will take the top spot in Super Junior Tag League! Don’t take your eyes off us. As Robbie said, the TMDK Era has begun! The Mighty Don’t Kneel!” Fujita has the mic drop moment and the fans cheer. Ryohei Oiwa joins them in holding up the TMDK banner, then they all sit together on the apron. Will nothing stop TMDK from taking over NJPW?

My Thoughts:

A great night to start off Super Junior Tag League. Fun stuff in the other matches, especially “The VeloCities,” Jude London & Paris De Silva. They got the win because Yoh only had a Young Lion but they definitely have skills and a great look. Then the actual Super Junior Tag League is smaller this year than I expected. Six teams per block, three matches for this first night, a fairly breezy watch. Each match was great stuff, but nothing too surprising in these results. LIJ of course won as Tiger Mask & Capitan Suicida are a new team. Connors & Drilla won because they’re the previous champions, and they made sure not to get cheated by The House of Torture.

Taguchi & Dia is a fun tag team, but I figured TMDK would win. Because as Robbie & Fujita say in their closing program, it feels like this is TMDK’s time. ZSJ is THE top champion, and both the IWGP Heavyweight & NJPW Strong tag titles are on Shane & Mikey. The Junior Heavyweight Tag titles just got put back on Kushida & Kevin Knight, and they will get the entire tournament to count towards their reign, but there is a very good chance TMDK wins this tournament to challenge them at WrestleKingdom and maybe even win. Depending on how things go, TMDK could start 2025 dripping with gold, and that’d be pretty awesome.
