Andrew’s TNA iMPACT! Results & Ratings: 7.31.2025

So a mediocre Live episode last week did nothing to really build off of a successful and entertaining Slammiversary. I can’t say that tonight’s card has me excited but hopefully it over performs. I have no clue why they insist on polluting their title scenes with Triple Threats like it means anything or adds weight. It just adds bodies to do spots…but who knows maybe the X Division match will surprise me, though I expect Leon to retain and the match to be generally inconsequential, maybe spinning into an angle between two of them, but that’s basics of basics.

I do truly detest Dreamer and Delirious booking because they aren’t interesting, they go for bare bones basic steps and they can’t write a story to save their lives.

Anyway, we’ve got a show to get to.

Results:

X Division Championship: Leon Slater (c) vs Cedric Alexander vs Jason Hotch

This is a dumb first defense, they put too much time into Slater being the Youngest X Division Champion and even forced AJ to try and put him over in multiple different interview moments for him to just lose in a nothing TV first defense.

We start with a stupid Human Centipede German Suplex spot, they look to do it again after a whip but it turns into some Standing Switches and Feint Mule Kick clips Cedric, Hotch has to jump into Slater’s Back Handspring Elbow so it looks stupid. Cedric has Gamengiris for everyone, Outside In Flatliner on Slater into a Suplex on Hotch. Cedric tosses Hotch, looks for Leon, Leon charges and eats a Michinoku Driver, but this is just all spots for spots sake. And Hotch catches Leon with a Knee Lift, Germans for both men and Hotch hits the Golden Triangle Moonsault. Hotch throws in Leon, looks for some kind of Springboard move but Leon cuts off and hits a Rope Assisted Twist of Fate, then takes 45 Days to pull off the Swanton 450.

This match was garbage. 7 minutes of just spots for nothing, randomly illogical no selling and it already started with stupidity because there was no way Leon was losing. 7 minutes is short, but it was about 10 minutes too long.

Oh Christ a Masha interview segment, she can’t talk. She’s not interesting, zero aura…I hope she loses and is away from the main event scene until she re-finds her Russian accent. 

Yikes, now we get a backstage segment with Cedric and Leon, where neither can really talk but Cedric sounds like a promo specialist comparatively.

Indi Hartwell & Dani Luna vs Jody Threat & Arianna Grace

Mentoria Crawford setting this all up, makes the addition of Arianna hilarious and fantastic at the same time. Arianna and Dani start off, and the male fans rejoice. Arianna rolls out of a Wristlock World of Sport style and poses for the crowd, but Dani just grabs another hold and Mentoria Crawford comes down to watch the match in some Shonuff outfit.

Dani tags into Indi and Arianna eats a few Scoop Slams and Dani tags back in, Arm Wringers and they just kind of trying to show Arianna’s lack of wrestling ability. But Arianna manages to get a small moment, walks to the corner and Jody does tag herself in against Dani. So we get the dueling babyface former partners standoff before we get into a power struggle. Jody pulling off a Springboard Codebreaker into a Fun Splash for a near fall. Dani puts the brakes on an Irish Whip, Arianna was sitting on the middle rope taking a break as they start a rope run and Dani falls through the middle ropes. Jody tags Arianna and Arianna attacks Dani, now they’re double teaming Dani, but Dani fights back, kicks off and tags in Indi for a big pop. A few short lariats, her Bear Hug style Spinebuster next for two, and then quick tag back to Dani. Dani looks to attack, but Jody gets a foot up, Jody fights off Indi as well, Michinoku Driver from Jody for two.

Arianna is asking for the tag, Jody is trying to Pop Shove It, but stalls, Dani shoves Jody into Arianna for the double coconut, and Luna Landing means the British and British adjacent win!

Arianna’s rope sit was clever. I hope it’s sprinkling in a heel turn for her, because she’s so easy to hate being gorgeous, a nepo baby and the “everyone’s my best friend” Disney adult kind of a character. I would love to see her as a heel. 

Nic & Ryan Nemeth vs The Rascalz

Oh look, Myron brought his Green and Black gear this time. 

The Nemeths try the sneak attack but the Rascalz attack and stop the Nemeths. Rascalz are rolling until the simultaneous dive, Wentz gets countered by Nic, but Myron rocks Ryan. So before Myron can continue with Ryan, Nic takes a few pot shots so Ryan just takes off Myron’s head and a few quick tags from the Nemeths keep Myron on the receiving end. Ryan has Myron down, a few downstrike Elbows and a nerve pinch before tagging in Nic for the the double Shot through the Heart Elbows. Nic keeps control with the Headlock, but Myron keeps trying to fight out, Rude Awakening to keep Myron down, tag to Ryan and Ryan goes for 3 straight near falls before just ground and pounding and tagging Nic back in.

A lot of the Nemeth offense is strikes, Nic and Ryan go for Back Body Drops, but Myron dodges two, slips through Ryan’s legs but eats an Elbow from Nic. Nic looks for something, but Myron pulls off Stun Dog Millionaire, simultaneous tags and Wentz is beating the crap out of Ryan. Wentz wants the Back Handspring Knee Lift but Nic hits a Superkick from the outside. Implant DDT from Ryan, FameASSer from Nic but only two! Ryan tries something, but Myron cuts it off, Drops Ryan, FLAME ON hits Nic! Wentz goes to the top, Spiral Tap! Rascalz win!

Nic and Ryan refuse to leave and Ryan hit the “Big Ba-ROTHER” line, so that’s good. They’re cashing in their rematch for Emergence. And in typical delusional Kaiba fashion, they call bullshit on the loss and Ryan makes it funny when he says they won a stunt show match with a Magic Ladder. He’s such a dork its fantastic. Ryan punctuates things with “we are hot bros, you are ugly”. It’s so stupid it…gets dumber cause Home Town Doofus shows up. Its sad is that I can’t stand Deaner, but this Home Town goof crap is sadly starting to get amusing. OH MY GOD THE CROWD IS SINGING HIS SONG. I can’t facepalm hard enough. Nemeths beat up on Home Town dweeb, and try to unmask Cody Deaner, and they succeed in taking the mask off but security hits the ring and covers his face like he’s a legendary Luchador. Thankfully the Rascalz come back to clear out the Nemeths. 

Another episode with a lot of talking. Kaz basically acts incredulous about getting kicked off of commentary like he’s special, and now Santana is gonna speak on this. He repeats the same thing he said last week about losing with his family and yadda yadda on his back. I like Santana and he talks convincingly, but he’s not really saying anything new. He’s in recap mode like the internet doesn’t exist. This worked in the 90s because Google wasn’t a thing…nowadays you need to build on the story and not retread. He punctuated it well, but 98% of the promo was recap and cliche. So let’s hope he can keep things convincing until Bound for Glory (most likely), and stop repeating himself. 

Knockouts Championship: Jacy Jayne w/Fatal Influence (c) vs Masha Slamovich

I have never wanted shenanigans to cost Masha more in any other match. As I say a lot, I don’t like Jacy (I love Fallon), but Jacy is better than Masha by quite a bit as a professional wrestler.

Masha shoots the half for a quick Cradle, and they’re just trading quick near falls before an awkward push off and stall, and more Flash pinfall attempts from both women. Jacy snaps off a Frankensteiner but taunts too long and Drop Toe Hold sends her throat first into the middle ropes. Jacy gets kicked in the face and Lariated down. Masha kicks Jacy but Fallon grabs the foot and Jacy Superkick rocks Masha and a Rocket Launcher into the middle rope, followed by a PK keeps Double J in control.

Running Neckbreaker for 2, maybe Jacy will try The Stroke at some point steering into the Double J thing. Jacy keeps Masha down with the Headlock Heel spot, but Masha fights up, Judo toss, combo strikes into Rising Knee into a Capo Kick, but Jacy starts to powder. ASH by Elegance just runs into the ring and levels Masha out of nowhere. Xia and Lei Ying Lee walk run out after the Elegance Clique assemble, so all 9 have a moment outside of the ring.

I’m so glad Masha didn’t win the title.

So…much talking. Following up the Mara Sade package, and now Order 4 is talking. Some Slammiversary victory celebration or whatever. Last week was too much talking, and now Ali is doing the “change” speech about “Outsiders invading the locker room”. They named the big Security guy Agent Zero. You know I started liking them when Tasha was the one who was the Mastermind. Ali quotes Rick and Morty with the “Your Boos Mean Nothing to me, I’ve seen what you cheer for”. That’s an old reference now…yikes, it feels like someone’s Dad trying to be cool. But he talks smack about Hendry so he pops out because he name was said, so it feels like both are in full reset mode. Ali is heavy handed Trump and Hendry is now “exposing” John Skyler with backstage footage. 

At least Hendry is going back to the shtick people liked him for. Ali’s reset is unnecessary, but Hendry was needed. Hendry challenges Ali to match tonight, but Ali says no, of course. Next week however, is ample time to prepare. OH MY GOD MORE TALKING NEXT! AN INTERVIEW WITH SAMI….STOP WITH ALL THE GOD FORSAKEN TALKING!

The only good thing that Sami is saying is he explains what everyone has been saying. He admits that he hasn’t been the same since her broke his ankle. He gained 60 pounds, he’s had weight issues in the past and he acknowledges not being the guy we all expect him to be. So he’s gonna face Mike Santana at Emergence in basically a win or retire match. Still too much talking, but at least this segment felt…sincere? I suppose that’s a good word for it. I miss the ole oVe Sami, Jeremiah Crane, no one misses Solomon Crowe, but if he can find even a tiny bit of the Death Machine, I think that could be good in general. 

Moose & Eddie Edwards w/Lish vs AJ Francis & Trick Williams w/KC Navarro

The System getting babyface responses and slapping hands with kids in the front row is…still something to get used to. 

System holds the ring early, but AJ and Moose decide to do the power Shoulder Block spot, made more poignant since they’re both former NFL players, so it’s like trench warfare. Moose tries to chop down AJ, AJ fires but Moose then dodges AJ and fires through him. Trick goes after Moose, Trick dodges and gets cocky like Goku, so Moose just Chops him good until he eats a Leg Lariat. Back from commercial AJ is holding the ring with Moose eating offense, but now they’re in a Suplex Counter off, Moose fires and Suplexes AJ, so he can finally tag in our favorite NOAH born. Eddie with a Splash, tries a Blue Thunder Bomb, but can’t get AJ up. Trick tags in, Eddie manages to get the Shot of Caffeine Daddy on Trick! Now I miss Pope…

KC Navarro manages to trip Eddie, so Trick can take back over and AJ and Trick use a bit of the tandem power game for a near fall. AJ starts choking Eddie against the ropes, then bends him through the ropes and System is getting handled, very similar to their heel formula, but they’re supposed to be faces now right? How can a team of World Champions be the underdogs? Psychology in the match is inane, but the work as been solid. Eddie fights out of the corner, Back Elbow rocks Trick, Irish Whip bounces AJ out and Blue Thunder Bomb finally gets hit on AJ, so simultaneous tags. Moose rocks Trick, Uranage, Senton, and then AJ tries to interfere, but Moose with the Headbutt.

Moose wants the Jacknife, but a Trick Kick says no, Trick eats a Pop-Up Powerbomb, 1-2 and AJ hits the Senton to break it up. KC tries to use the crutch, but misses and clocks Trick. Moose hits Lights Out, and The System wins.

Overall Score: 4/10

So the positives, Santana’s punctuation and delivery of cliche trash, Sami’s interview, the main event was decent, The Elegance brand, Mara Sade existing, Hendry going back to the old stuff of mocking people and Arianna “innocently” doing heel stuff. The rest was just too much talking, nothing of much merit being said and too many long stretches of just talking. TNA has got into this bad WWE formula for what feels like 20 minutes of talking, 8 minute match, 20 more minutes of talking, useless match, talk, match, talk, talk, talk, main event…meh. The difference between the WWE Formula on WWE and one TNA is production levels and promo-ability. Too many TNA wrestlers at the top of the cards can’t talk well. Leon, Masha, Jake, Moose, and Ali’s Trump gimmick got old fast. There’s obviously a Catch 22 about “if they don’t get the chances to cut promos they won’t get better”, but someone needs to work with them on talking. It’s bad when LFG contestants or people straight out of the PC cut better promos than people who have been “professionals” for 5+ years.

They really need to stop being Diet WWE and just go back to the TNA style that made people happy to see the letter back last year. It’s not difficult, Scott did it well…why can’t Dreamer and Delirious?

Just a super boring show, predictable and dragged the entire time. Even the good bits were interwoven in bloated talking segments and generally boring and mediocre matches.
