Backstage interview with Trish Stratus.

Megan Morant is with the Hall of Famer, and notes that tonight, Trish looks for her first title reign since 2006! What is she looking to prove? Trish says there is an element of proving to herself that she can still do it. But there is also wanting to show her daughter, and other young people, that they don’t have to fit in a box. They can keep evolving, keep changing and reinventing, and keep showing up, no matter what stage of life they’re in. At the end of the day, if she can inspire even one person to chase their dreams or silence that voice in their head that says, “You can’t do this,” or “You’re too old,” then it was worth it.

In the end, it isn’t over until you say it’s over. Unless it is #TiffyTime, cuz Trish is planning on ending that. But we’ll see. Megan thanks Trish and sends it back to the panel, but will Trish grab number eight? Or will Tiffy’s one reign continue through Evolution?

Jordynne Grace is backstage.

The Juggernaut is lifting some weights and Blake Monroe walks in. “There’s my Muscle Muffin! We made such a great team yesterday! And it was my very first victory in NXT! You’re the best, JG.” Grace admits, after their beautification day, she didn’t know what to expect. But that tag match was a great momentum builder, so she thanks Blake for that. Blake says the pleasure was all hers. If she can beat Jacy Jayne, then Grace definitely can. Good luck! Blake goes to leave but Grace tells her to hold on. This is the biggest match of Grace’s career, and we all know Jacy Jayne will have the Fatal Influence. They will do everything they can to make sure Grace doesn’t win.

Grace isn’t sure how many more chances she has at this title, so it’d mean so much if Blake was in her corner. Blake is surprised by this offer. This is Grace’s moment, Blake doesn’t wanna take away from it. Grace says Blake won’t, and it’d mean a lot to her if Blake said yes. Blake thinks on it, and says she’ll see Grace out there. The Glamour heads off, will she be just the thing to help Grace dethrone the Toxic Rockstar?

Ringside interview with Nikki Bella.

Cathy Kelley and Fearless Nikki are at a commentary table of their own as Cathy says there are so many members of the Bella Army in Atlanta. This is a long awaited moment, as it was uncertain if we’d ever see Nikki back in a WWE ring. Nikki has trained with the “Dungeon Dolls,” Natalya & Maxxine Dupri, what does it mean to be back at Evolution? Nikki says it means so much! Honor, legacy, history, and true women empowerment. This is her passion, this is everything she stands for. And for her to start her comeback here, that is historic for her! A core memory for the rest of her life! And they waited long enough from the first one!

Cathy points out Nikki is also a mom now, and her son, Mateo, is here. What would it mean to win this title opportunity with him watching? Nikki says it’d mean everything! For Mateo to see his mom have a chance at a title, especially in Paris, she will fight her heart out to get it. These opportunities don’t come by often. When you have the chance, you gotta grab the moment. There are many faces she’s familiar with and many more that are new, who does she have her eye on? Oh, Stephanie Vaquer for sure. Vaquer will be one of her hardest opponents, along with the NXT girls. Nikki has been watching, seeing them backstage, there is a lot of competition.

Nikki loves Vaquer, but in a battle royal, friendships and admiration goes out the door. Even Brie and Nikki have thrown that stuff aside, so Nikki is ready for anything. That battle royal is right around the corner, will Nikki be fearless and grab that golden ticket to Paris?

The fans cheer that and Steph says seven years later, the women are regularly main-eventing. The depth on Raw, SmackDown, NXT, the Performance Center, it is all off the charts and on display!

Great American Bash yesterday had a women’s tag main event, and the main roster better watch out. Tonight, get ready to be inspired, because they get to do it all over again! Tessitore says he and Steph have been talking all week, they’ve been excited because they get to host this show, and obviously there are title matches, but there’s one rivalry that has been boiling over. But the match Steph is drawn most to, which is it? It is so hard to pick one, but if he’s forcing her hand, then yes, Steph is going with Jade Cargill VS Naomi, No Holds Barred! Did you see what happened on Saturday Night’s Main Event? That was a fight! Tonight will be a fight!

In fact, the only one they can trust to keep this under control is Bianca Belair as special guEST ref. The fans cheer that and Tessitore anticipates the fans exploding when we get to see Bianca in the referee attire. Steph agrees, and Tessitore says time to throw it over to commentary, Michael Cole & Wade Barrett! Just how explosive will this entire night be once the bell rings?

One of the most intricately woven grudges is given the honor of opening this historic night! The Man returned to team with The Morrigan, but that was only because she secretly attacked The Role Model and removed her from WrestleMania! The truth was exposed, Lyra felt like her life was a lie, but she’s been honest about how badly she wants to beat Becky up. Bayley’s very much the same, but the problem is she and Lyra both want the title. Will Becky use her enemies against each other? Or are we getting a new champion one way or another?

The introductions are made, the belt is raised, and we see who is truly ready for the big time!

The bell rings and the fans fire up already. Becky watches Lyra and Bayley, the fans get even louder, and then Bayley DECKS Lyra! Becky says okay, Four Horsewomen time. Rhea switches, Iyo switches, but Rhea trips Iyo! Iyo kicks Rhea away, Rhea returns and jumps over the dropdown. Iyo hurdles, Rhea leaps over the monkey flip, then bypasses Iyo. Iyo sunset flips, Rhea stays up, and she YANKS Iyo up to TOSS her to a corner! Rhea storms up, keeps Iyo cornered, and then blocks a kick. Rhea feints the punch and taunts Iyo with her own “crazy” taunt. The fans are torn but Iyo nods respect for that.

Iyo and Rhea step up, and Rhea says she does respect Iyo. Iyo says she respects Rhea, too. Good, then let’s fight! Rhea throws hands, Iyo ducks, kicks, runs, redirects and hops over Rhea’s backdrop! Iyo then shoves Rhea, blows past her, but Rhea avoids the handspring! But not the SHOTGUN! The fans fire up as Rhea bails out, and Iyo builds speed! Iyo DIVES but into a forearm! Rhea drags Iyo out, Electric Chair Lifts, but Iyo fights free! Iyo mule kicks from the apron, then ASAI MOONSAULTS! Down goes Rhea and the fans fire up! Iyo brings Rhea up and into the ring, then goes to the corner. Iyo climbs, aims as Rhea stands, FLYING VICTORY ROLL! Cover, TWO!

Rhea escapes but Iyo has her. Iyo underhooks but Rhea wrenches out! Iyo ducks the lariat to wrangle Rhea with a CROSSFACE! Rhea endures, powers up, and she fires body shots. Iyo lets go, Rhea runs up, but Iyo drop toeholds her onto the ropes! Iyo dials it up, 61- NO! Rhea blocks, but then Iyo makes it a SPIKE-RANA on the apron! The fans fire up as Iyo has a counter to the counter! Atlanta cheers “WOMEN’S WRESTLING!” as Iyo aims, tilt-o-whirls, but Rhea stops the rest! Iyo slips free and they fire forearms back and forth! Iyo blocks a kick, puts the leg in the ropes, but Rhea KNEES Iyo down! And then THROWS Iyo off!

Iyo hits the desk and falls in a heap! The fans fire up while Rhea goes out after Iyo. Rhea drags Iyo up, and whips her hard into barriers! Then into steel steps! Rhea drags Iyo up, puts her in the ring, and storms in after her. Rhea hauls Iyo up, BACKBREAKER! Rhea pushes Iyo down, facelocks and suplexes to hang Iyo out to dry! Iyo flops down, Rhea pushes her to a cover, TWO! Iyo survives and Rhea is frustrated. Rhea clamps onto Iyo with body scissors! The fans rally while Iyo endures and Rhea squeezes. Rhea pushes Iyo around, thrashes her around, but Iyo pries at the legs! Iyo pushes back to a cover, TWO!

Rhea lets Iyo go but then DROPKICKS her down! Cover, TWO! Iyo is still in this and Rhea grows further frustrated. Rhea drags Iyo around, clamps onto an arm, and has a seated abdominal stretch! Iyo endures, the fans rally, and Rhea tells Iyo to fight! Iyo endures, but she shouts in pain as Rhea CLAWS at her side! The fans rally, Iyo fight sup, and Iyo fires haymakers! Rhea ROCKS Iyo in return! Rhea whips, Iyo ducks ‘n’ dodges, then tilt-o-whirls and DDTS! Iyo is fired up, but then she flops over, too! The fans rally up again, “This is Awesome!” Iyo rises, as does Rhea, and Iyo fires a forearm! Rhea fires back!

Iyo ROCKS Rhea, winds up, but Rhea grabs her! But VICTORY FACEBUSTER and STOMP 182! Iyo roars, BUZZSAW! Rhea wobbles, Iyo waistlocks, GERMAN SUPLEX! Rhea flounders all the way out of the ring! The fans fire up and Iyo builds speed! Iyo DIVES! Down goes Rhea, but Iyo hurries to put her back in! Iyo goes up, up, and MISSILE DROPKICKS! Rhea flounders away to the far corner, but Iyo kips up! The fans fire up as Iyo still has gas in the tank!

Iyo rallies the fans and goes corner to corner! SHINKANSEN! Cover, TWO! Rhea survives and Iyo is beside herself! The fans rally harder as Iyo rises. Iyo steps on Rhea as she goes for the corner. Iyo goes up, up, but Rhea goes up after her! SUPER GERMAN SUPLEX! Iyo lands out!? Iyo runs back in, but Rhea dodges! The bullet train crashes, Rhea CLUBS Iyo and goes up! Rhea drags Iyo up to join her, but Iyo YANKS Rhea off the top! Rhea hits buckles on the way down! Iyo drags Rhea up, underhooks, but Rhea fights the lift! Rhea BACKDROPS, but Iyo lands out! Iyo SHOTEIS! SHOTEIS! And SHOTEIS! But Rhea BOOTS, KICKS, STOMPS, and KNEE SMASH!

Iyo ducks ‘n’ dodges, tilt-o-whirls, but Rhea stops that to suplex and- NO, Iyo slips free again! Iyo CLUBS Rhea, Rhea ELBOWS Iyo! Iyo hops on to POISON-RANA!! The fans are thunderous and Iyo drags Rhea to a cover, TWO!! Rhea survives and Iyo is shocked! Atlanta is electric as they duel between Iyo and Rhea. Iyo stomps Rhea, steps on her, but Rhea anchors that foot! Iyo kicks free, goes to the corner, and climbs back up. But Rhea anchors her again! Iyo kicks Rhea down, adjusts her position, but Rhea SHOVES her! Iyo is stuck up top, Rhea drags her off the corner, RAZOR’S EDGE! And then a deadlift POWERBOMB!! Cover, TWO!!!

The fans are electric and Rhea is shocked, but Iyo survives that double impact! “This is Awesome!” while Rhea slaps herself. Rhea fires back up, hauls Iyo up, and pump handles! RIP- NO, Iyo slips free and into a SLEEPER!! Rhea RAMS Iyo into buckles, RAMS her again, and is free of the hold. Rhea puts Iyo up top, SMACKS her, then climbs up to join her. The fans fire up as Rhea has Iyo on the very top! But Iyo fights the superplex! Iyo hops down, Rhea grabs hair, but Iyo breaks free and sweeps the legs! Rhea hits buckles, staggers around, and Iyo springboards! Rhea dodges, the ref takes the MISSILE DROPKICK! Jessika Carr is down!

Rhea HEADSBUTTS and RIPTIDES!! Cover, Rhea would be a winner if not for what happened! Rhea realizes that, and she is about to lose her mind! Rhea goes back to Iyo, drags her up, and reels her in again. Canadian Rack, RAZOR’S EDGE again! Iyo tumbles to the floor, Rhea goes out after her, and BOOTS her over barriers! These two go into the crowd to brawl it out! The fans fire up as Rhea ROCKS Iyo, brings her around, and RAMS her into railing! Iyo sputters but Rhea loops her through the railing! Rhea HAMMERS away on Iyo! And HEADBUTTS her again! Iyo flops to the floor while the fans fire up!

Rhea spots something, and decides to head that way. The fans fire up as Rhea drags Iyo up to SMACK off some road cases! Rhea climbs up, and she drags Iyo up to join her! Rhea hauls Iyo up for a POWER- NO, Iyo fights it to go even higher! Iyo AX KICKS Rhea, SMACKS her off the side, and Rhea falls off the cases! Iyo smiles as now she has an idea! The fans are thunderous as Iyo goes even higher! And now, from up in the sky, Iyo SUPER DUPER CROSSBODIES!! Direct hit and the fans lose their minds! Iyo gets up first, and she KICKS Rhea around! Iyo SMACKS Rhea off barriers, Rhea staggers around, and Iyo keeps after her!

Iyo stomps Rhea on the stairs! Then she DOUBLE STOMPS! Iyo runs Rhea to the barriers and TOSSES her to ringside! The fans fire up, Iyo runs in, but Rhea sends her into the desk! Iyo hits ribs first! Rhea puts Iyo in the ring, gasps for air in her own right, and drags herself into the ring. But Iyo DIVES to SUNSET FLIP POWERBOMB to the floor!! The fans go nuts all over again! Iyo puts Rhea back in the ring, goes up the corner, and Jessika is finally up! OVER THE MOONSAULT!! Cover, TWO?!?!?! Rhea survives and Iyo cannot understand how!! No one can!! Atlanta is erupting for Rhea as she stirs.

Iyo wracks her genius brain for ideas on how to end this, so she DOUBLE STOMPS Rhea! Then she goes to the corner! Iyo goes up again, but Rhea goes to the apron. Iyo frowns, but she drags Rhea up by a wristlock. Iyo has Rhea on the corner, SLAPS her, and eggs her on! Rhea fires hands in return! Then she SMACKS Iyo off the post! Rhea grins and the fans fire up again! Rhea climbs, she brings Iyo up to join her, but Iyo fires body shots! Iyo SUPER SPANISH FLIES!!! Iyo turns things around one more time, but both women are down! AND NAOMI MAKES HER WAY OUT HERE!! The fans go nuts cuz this can only mean one thing!!

Naomi has her own referee, but more importantly, she has the briefcase! NAOMI IS CASHING IN!! This is now a TRIPLE THREAT!!

WWE Women’s World Championship Triple Threat, MITB Cash-In: Iyo Sky VS Rhea Ripley VS Naomi!

The bell rings on the new match, and Naomi SMACKS Iyo with the briefcase!! The fans are going nuts as Naomi POSTS Rhea!! Then she has Iyo set up for the SPLIT-LEG MOONSAULT!! Cover, NAOMI WINS!!!

Winner: Naomi, by pinfall (NEW WWE Women’s World Champion)

Heist of the Century, meet your match! She may have lost a war to Jade, but Naomi just won a title off Rhea and Iyo!! She warned everyone to #ProceedWithCaution, but clearly no one listened! Naomi is on top of the world once again, will no one forget about her ever again?

My Thoughts:

What an awesome way to end an awesome weekend of wrestling, both WWE and beyond. But WWE got to cap it off, and they went the extra mile with this. It has been a long time since a one-night WWE PLE has had this many matches, but WWE made it worth the wait, and that goes for waiting on Evolution 2 at all. The opening Triple Threat? Instant classic, and I figured Becky would win like that. I feel like Bayley and Lyra should now feud on their own while someone else steps in and challenges Becky.

Jacy VS Grace was a great match, but I had that dread the moment Blake had the belt in her hands. Blake turns Heel, betrays Grace, and while Jacy is now fed to Masha Slamovich, Grace and Blake can fight it out. Blake probably cheats Grace in that match, she challenges the double champion Masha, and who knows how that goes. Awesome Fatal 4 Way Tag, especially with that level of chaos by the end. As figured, Judgment Day retains, they can now feud with Kabuki Warriors, but it would be nice if they showed up on SmackDown, too, to beef with Flair & Bliss. Kabuki Warriors are still great, but we need something to keep this Flair & Bliss thing going.

Great match from Tiff VS Trish, but yeah, Tiff was winning. In the moment, Naomi not cashing in on Tiff was confusing, but looking at it now, it makes sense. Tiff wasn’t anywhere near as beat up as Naomi would want her to be, and she still needed to worry about her own match. The No Holds Barred was still awesome, you don’t usually see a TV screen get exploded, and you don’t usually see someone use table legs like that. And keeping it to the grudge between them, not a grudge and a title, was just fine. Jade moves on to probably challenge Tiff at SummerSlam, as it stays to the brand the Queen of the Ring is on, aka SmackDown.

The battle royal was a lot of fun, and I’m genuinely surprised Nikki didn’t win. But I bet they could still spin a story of Nikki feuding with Lash since Lash eliminated her. Vaquer winning was awesome for her, she could very likely take whatever title she wants in Paris. Iyo VS Rhea as it was at the start was an instant classic, probably one of their best 1v1 matches. At the same time, that just adds to how wild it was for Naomi to cash in on them. Naomi is back on top, this new Heel reign is going to be awesome, but I do wonder… Is the Women’s World Championship moving to SmackDown? Or will Naomi and Jimmy Uso move to Raw? That wouldn’t really work when Jimmy has a part still to play in the Solo Sikoa MFT story, but there is still the chance of a WWE Draft…
