The bell rings, Mistico and Mansoor circle, and the fans rally up. The two step up, the fans cheer on Mistico, and Mistico offers the handshake. Mansoor kicks low instead! Mansoor wrenches, hammerlocks, and he puts on the pressure. Mistico reaches back to flying-mare! The fans fire up, things get moving, and Mansoor drops down to hurdle over. Then Mistico knuckle locks, CHOPS, and he goes up, up, and FLYING TORNILLO ARM-DRAGS! The fans fire up while Mansoor flounders to ropes. Mistico brings him up but Mansoor wants him to back off. The fans boo but Mansoor runs to ELBOW DROP! Cover, TWO!

Mansoor drags Mistico, TOSSES him out, and then MXM TV mugs Mistico! Abrahantes protests, the ref sees some of it and has everyone back off. Mansoor goes out to drag Mistico up and into the ring. But wait, is that Jon Cruz? He’s still cosplaying as Abraham Lincoln for MJF, too. Mansoor rips at Mistico’s mask! The fans boo and the ref reprimands, but Mansoor stops at 4. Mansoor flexes, Cruz has the cameraman back up, and then Mansoor suplexes! Mansoor struts, steps on Mistico, then goes up the corner. MAN-SAULT MISSES as Mistico moves! The fans rally up, Mistico gets moving, and he springboards to CROSSBODY!

Mistico keeps moving, and he tilt-o-whirl RANAS! Then he GAMANGIRIS! And then CHOPS! Mistico whips, Mansoor reverses, but Mistico goes up and over to backflip! Then SNAP POWERSLAM! Cover, TWO! Mansoor gets up. Mistico GAMANGIRIS! Springboard, CROSSBODY, and things keep moving! Tilt-o-whirl and LA MYSTICA!! Mansoor TAPS, Mistico wins!

Winner: Mistico, by submission

The music plays, but no one gets to celebrate as Jon Cruz signals Mistico is gonna lose that mask soon enough! Friday is the CMLL Anniversary Show, will that celebration also be ruined? Or will everyone get to sing along with Me Muero once more?

ROH takes a closer look at the Women’s Pure Championship Tournament.

Serena Deeb sees Queen Aminata, Deonna Purrazzo and Trish Adora getting at each other and says, “It seems everybody in this tournament has Main Character Syndrome. They all think they have a chance of winning this, but deep down, they all know that this tournament has always been about The Professor.” But Yuka Sakazaki says, “I am taking the ROH Women’s Pure Champion!” Olympia says she will be the future ROH Women’s Pure Champion, but Billie Starkz says, “What can I say? Tournaments are my thing. I was the first-ever ROH (Women’s) TV Champion, and I will be the first-ever ROH (Women’s) Pure Rules Champion.”

Everyone is ready to fight for the gold, but the road is going to be a long and arduous one. Those quarterfinals are still on the horizon, but it is time to see who warms up in the preliminaries!

Pure Rules Match: Olympia VS Viva Van!

While CMLL’s Goddess of Powerlifting prepares for Billie Starkz, she’s looking to tune up here in Philly. Will this ROH debut be a big victory? Or will this Hellbent Vixen drag Olympia down to Hades, one hold at a time?

The Code of Honor is upheld, the bell rings, and we’re on the clock. The two circle, feel things out, then Viva shoves Olympia. They tie up, Olympia throws Viva to then wrench her. Viva breaks free, cravats, but Olympia breaks free. Viva headlocks, Olympia powers up but Viva switches and spins her to a wristlock. Olympia rolls, wrenches, and short arm LARIATS! Olympia runs, rolls Viva, then she avoids Viva’s leg guard with a cartwheel! Basement DROPKICK! The fans cheer and Olympia brings Viva up. Viva breaks free, ducks ‘n’ dodges, then slingshots to arm-drag! Olympia runs up, Viva dodges, and Viva RANAS!

The fans fire up again while both women hurry to their feet. Viva runs up and ELBOWS Olympia! Viva runs, Olympia LARIATS! Olympia rolls back, but Viva runs up! DOUBLE LARIATS collide but neither woman falls. Viva gets Olympia for a SPINEBUSTER! KNEEBAR! Olympia flails, powers up, and she rolls Viva over! Float to the LAST CHANCERY! Viva endures, reaches out, ROPEBREAK! Olympia lets go but that is Viva’s first of three. We’re two minutes into the ten minute limit, and Olympia stomps Viva down. Olympia runs corner to corner, headstand and SWINGING BRONCO BUSTER! Cover, TWO!

Viva bails out to the apron but Olympia runs up, only for Viva to RAM her! Viva slingshots up and over, Olympia turns around, WHEEL KICK! Cover, TWO! Olympia survives and Viva seethes. Viva underhooks, the fans rally, but Olympia wrenches and fireman’s carries! Olympia does squats using Viva and the fans cheer! They count the reps and she gets three before the SAMOAN DROP! Cover, TWO! The fans rally up behind Olympia as she rises, and she runs in, only for Viva to dodge! Olympia hits buckles, Viva dribbles her off them some more! Viva then springboards to CROSSBODY! Cover, TWO! Viva is frustrated as we hit four minutes.

Viva whips Olympia, Olympia reverses to then GERMAN SUPLEX! Viva flounders, Olympia fires up, and the fans rally. Olympia runs in, Viva ELBOWS her away! Viva goes up and over to then UP KICK! Olympia falls back, the fans fire up, and Viva climbs! Viva aims, but Olympia rises! Viva BOOTS Olympia, leaps, but Olympia catches her! SWINGING SIDE SLAM! Cover, Olympia wins!

Winner: Olympia, by pinfall

And in just under five minutes, Olympia is victorious! Will she make quick work of Billie and the rest of the field? Or will Billie once again win as the underdog?

Jon Cruz speaks.

“Mistico. Let last week be the final time you put your hands on my face. Now, looking ahead, tomorrow night is the final time you put that stupid mask on yours. CMLL Anniversario 92, MJF VS Mistico, Title VS Mask. Mistico, this is the most important match of your life! Not only is MJF coming to defeat you, not only is MJF coming to humiliate you, he’s coming to steal your livelihood.” Cruz puts it in Spanish, and then tells us not to forget, MJF is better than you, y tu los sabes, PERRRRRO~! Cruz then tips his top hat and exits. But will Mistico make a fool of both him and Maxwell Jacob Friedman? Or will Mistico’s mystique die in Arena Mexico?

Lance Archer is already assaulting his opponent!

The Murderhawk Monster is like a 76er with how he dribbles the guy around like a basketball! Rocky Romero is just sitting idly by while this is happening, but he wants Archer to hurry up, they’ve got a plane to catch. CHOKE SLAM onto a road case! Others hurry over, but Archer ROCKS that guy, THROWS him into the trash, and then BEEF is here! Archer shoves Beef back to BOOT him! Then he THROWS Beef into railing! Archer shouts, “EVERYBODY DIES!” And Rocky says, “Everybody gets paid!” Archer brings Azucar along as they leave, not even bothering to have the match now! Will this path of destruction go all the way to Toronto?

Everybody say Frat House~!

The Frat is partying with the ladies while teasing the Pledges, and Jacked Jameson says, “In the world of pro-wrestling, nobody parties harder inside or outside the ring than The Frat House.” Preston Vance says, “We love beer, hot chicks, and effin’ dudes up~!” Griff Garrison says, “Keep up or get lost! Who’s next?!” The teddy bear mascot guy goes hard on the slip ‘n’ slide! Remember the golden rule: Win or lose, WE BOOZE~! Go hard or go home! But when will these Frat boys get serious and get some gold?

It’s an all-new edition of QTV!

QT Marshall says hey to the team, and asks what’s new. Aaron Solow asks where QT’s been, and QT claims he’s been on vacation. Where? He looks pale. QT says okay, it wasn’t vacation. Paul Walter-Hauser did a lot better than QT ever expected, and QT has finally been able to leave the house. Solow applauds Boss Man QT, the Greatest Celebrity Opponent of All Time! Like, really, he’s the LeBron of wrestling celebrities. No, wait, the KOBASHI of wrestling celebrities! QT says any time he sees a celebrity, he hits them as hard as he can, it’s literally what anyone would do. Solow says in all seriousness, that was one of the best celebrity wrestler matches of all time.

Harley Cameron adds that QT even fisted PWH! No, what? Yes, roll the footage! Oh, she meant fist-bumped. Got it. Fisted, fist-bumped, potato, tomato. Anyway, she was surprised he did that at all. And speaking of surprises, did they see what Don Callis did to Big Boom AJ AND Big Justice? Roll that footage! We start seeing Big Boom AJ confront Callis, but then QT says no, cut. We know what happened, but even QT feels that what Callis did to them is too much. Solow asks if QT is… defending Big Boom AJ. No, he’s not defending them! Is Solow implying QT has something in common with two burly, Italian-American New Jersey boys who love professional wrestling?

Um… Solow just spritz and Harley says wrap it up, she’s got stuff to do. Harley leaves, but is there a change of heart inside God’s Gift to Wrestling?

Pure Rules Match: Yuka Sakazaki VS Janai Kai!

The Magical Girl knows she’s set to face the Professor of Pro-Wrestling in the quarterfinals, but she first has a tune-up against a member of MLW’s Contra Unit! Will Yuka be able to slay the Kick Demon in ten minutes or less?

The Code of Honor is upheld, the bell rings, and we are on the clock. The fans rally for Yuka as she and Kai circle. They tie up, Yuka waistlocks, but Kai switches. Yuka drop toeholds then floats over, but Kai slips out to hammerlock. Yuka rolls, rolls, and is free. The fans cheer as Yuka and Kai reset. They tie up, Yuka wrenches and whips, but Kai reverses. Yuka reverses, Kai reverses back and arm-drags! But Yuka arm-drags, then DROPKICKS! The fans cheer as Kai bails out, and Yuka builds speed! Yuka WRECKS Kai with a dropkick! The fans cheer, Yuka goes up, SUPER CROSSBODY! Down goes Kai and the fans fire up again!

The fans rally behind Yuka as she puts Kai in. Yuka stalks Kai, sunset flips, ONE! Yuka keeps on Kai with a snapmare and roll, but Kai avoids the basement kick! BUZZSAW! The fans boo but Kai stomps Yuka around. Kai drags Yuka up, bumps her off buckles, then KICKS! And KICKS! And then snapmare for a KICK to the back! Cover, TWO! Yuka survives, the fans rally, but Kai clamps on a DRAGON SLEEPER! Kai has the behind-the-back grip but Yuka endures. The fans rally, Yuka goes to the ROPEBREAK! That is her first, and Kai scuffs Yuka to taunt her. Kai runs, and BOOT WASH! Then she runs to JUMP KICK! Cover, TWO!

Yuka survives and Kai is frustrated already. The fans rally and we pass three minutes. Kai runs in, blocks a kick, and she drags Yuka up to an Electric Chair, only for Yuka to HANGING HEADSCISSOR! The ref counts, Yuka lets go, and that is Kai’s first ropebreak! Yuka goes up, cartwheels to dodge, then runs up to RANA! Kai staggers up, into another DROPKICK! The fans cheer, Yuka wrenches Kai and hammerlocks to then lift, but Kai fights it! Kai fires knees and KICKS from all sides! Then she KICKS Yuka down! Cover, TWO! Yuka is still in this and the fans rally up. Kai aims, spins, but Yuka ducks the kick!

Kai BOOTS Yuka, runs up, but Yuka dodges to put her in the ropes! Yuka then swings, SNAP SLIDE GERMAN! The fans fire up with Yuka, and she hurries to get Kai with the hammerlock! The fans rally for Yuka as she lifts and spins! MAGICAL GIRL SLAM! Cover, Yuka wins!

Winner: Yuka Sakazaki, by pinfall

At 4:41, the Magical Girl seals the deal! But will Yuka be able to surprise The Professor with all this? Or will Serena already have all the answers?

Bennett gets pissed and he ROCKS Shane! Shane ROCKS Bennett! Bennett ROCKS Shane, Shane ROCKS Bennett, repeat! They go shot for shot, and Bennett fires a flurry! Bennett spins, but he SWATS Shane’s haymaker first! Then ROLLING ELBOW! Shane wobbles, Bennett kicks, but Shane blocks to KNEE! Bennett comes back to LARIAT! Both men are down and the fans fire up! Carlie, Dean & Shane remind us all, they really are THEM! Anyone, anywhere, anytime, just come find ’em! No more disrespect, only domination! But with that, what title(s) will belong to Shane Taylor Promotions next?

My Thoughts:

A great ROH here at just over an hour. I’m a little annoyed we did Pure Rules matches for the ladies, but not any of the tournament matches. Are we really stretching this out until Final Battle in December? We got good promos, and we got good matches where of course Olympia and Yuka won, but it’s just filler. Though I will say, even just skimming Shibata VS Mako, that was a great match, and Mako is definitely a great talent who deserves some shine. Meanwhile, I did appreciate that they did away with filler like Archer squashing a rando by having him just attack the guy and brawl with others. Beef going after Archer could even be used to make a specific feud.

Great seeing Alan Angels again, but I figured Mortos would win. QTV this week was actually okay, because it was QT teasing a Face turn motivated by Callis bullying Big Boom AJ and Big Justice. Decent vignette from Frat House, but I was hoping someone was gonna crash the party and start up a new feud with them. Great stuff with Mistico VS Mansoor, and of course Mistico won. Jon Cruz had a good promo on behalf of MJF, but don’t consider this any kind of go-home math. There’s no way Mistico is going to lose his mask, so MJF is losing the belt. And speaking of belts, STP was definitely retaining their titles.

Good promo from them beforehand, and great match with Fox & Kingdom. Hopefully ROH can build up a trio or two that can properly challenge them, but we should also see STP head for more belts.

My Score: 8.7/10
