The teams sort out and the fans rally up as Octagon starts against Lince. They run up, Octagon leaps over, and the fans already chant for “LUCHA LIBRE!” Octagon goes Matrix, then blocks, blocks, and blocks to kick. Lince blocks, Octagon blocks, and Octagon FLIPS Lince! Lince lands out, dodges Octagon, but Octagon goes up, up, and TORNILLOS! Things keep moving, Lince RANAS! But Octagon comes back to RANA! Octagon leg sweeps, covers, ONE! Lince sweeps, covers, ONE! Rey says yes, this is another historical night, especially with the AAA Mega Championship on the line tonight. A multi-generational battle at that as El Hijo Del Vikingo- Dominik Mysterio interrupts his father by saying, “When I beat Vikingo tonight, I’m going to be the first Mysterio to become Mega Campeon, and the first Mysterio to be double champion!” Rey says Dom must think it’ll be that easy. Dom says it will be!

How about this? How about after Dom wins, Rey comes out to raise his hand, and even put the belt around his waist. Rey says he’ll be a man of his word. If Dom wins, Rey will celebrate his victory. IF. Rey leaves and Dom says yeah, he WILL celebrate! And then Finn Balor steps in, and Dom says hi to “Stepdad” Finn! Finn says, “Y’know what’s the best way for you to show the world that you’re the best luchador of all time is? If you go out there tonight and you win the championship alone. Evolve’s Chuey Martinez is with Kofi Kignston, Xavier Woods & Grayson Waller, and Chuey asks if this is a new look. Kofi says no, they’re not here to talk about their look but to win tag title gold. That bald headed tyrant, Adam Pearce, does not recognize their talent, but AAA does! And AAA gave the New Day a chance to put another one on the stack! Tonight, they walk out here the new AAA Tag Team Champions, baby! Well, there are rumblings tonight, and Chuey asks Woods’ status. Is he injured? Woods says since Chuey must know, “that masked mercenary, Penta,” continuously hits Destroyers to hurt Woods’ neck!

And guess what? He succeeded! Yesterday at 11 AM, Woods had to go and get surgery on his head! He cannot compete tonight! But after having his head cut open, he got on a plane and risked death by blood clot, all so he could see his guy, Kofi, and his man, Grayson, win the titles. Waller says this is a huge opportunity to compete alongside the greatest tag team of all time, and they will be a combined FIFTEEN-TIME tag team champions! It doesn’t matter that Pagano and Psycho Clown are great, tough Mexican wrestlers! It doesn’t matter that Woods is afraid of clowns! Whoa, hey, no, don’t mention that!

Waller says all that matters is that they are going to ban ALL the dangerous lucha libre moves! Sign this petition, Chuey! Um, okay… Chuey signs, Waller says do it in English! It is! Pagano y Psycho Clown get the fans to join in and mock The New Day. Waller tries to do it but the fans just boo him. The teams sort out and Waller starts against Psycho Clown. The fans cheer Psycho Clown as he and Waller circle. Waller KICKS, Psycho shakes that off, and Waller avoids the fast hands. They tie up, Psycho wrenches to a wristlock, but Waller rolls and handsprings to then WRING Psycho out. Waller does drop steps, then he joins Woods in egging on the fans. Waller returns to the ring, but Psycho has the fans behind him. They circle, tie up, and Psycho wrenches to wristlcok again. Waller rolls, kips again and again just to show off, then he wrenches.

But Psycho WRINGS Waller out! Psycho goes out, and he joins in with Woods. Woods doesn’t realize it until he looks over. Woods freaks out and the fans laugh! But then Waller slides out! Psycho dodges, Waller follows, and Psycho RUNS Waller over. Things keep moving, Waller hurdles but Psycho leaps over. Waller bypasses but Psycho RANAS! But Waller springboards to FLYING ARM-DRAG! Cover, ONE! Psycho sweeps and covers, ONE! Both men handspring and the fans applaud for “LUCHA! LUCHA!” They shake hands, but Waller doesn’t let Psycho go. Waller DECKS Psycho with a sucker punch!

The fans boo but then Waller rains down fists! Waller soaks up heat, then he drags Psycho up. Waller CLUBS Psycho, CLUBS him again, and the fans rally up. “NEW! DAY SUCKS!” Waller CHOKES Psycho Clown on the ropes, Woods says they can’t suck, they’re winning. Waller whips, but Psycho KICKS him! Tag to Pagano! Mule kick and Pagano runs to BLOCKBUSTER! The fans fire up and Pagano BOOTS Waller down! Pagano fires up as he goes to the corner. Pagano goes up but Waller scrambles to tag Kofi! Woods has the cameraman move so Waller can slide out. Kofi tells fans to hush, but the fans say, “NEW! DAY SUCKS!”

Kofi and Pagano circle, tie up, and Kofi waistlocks to headlock, then hammerlock, then headlock, and repeat! Kofi shows his technical prowess, then wrenches to a wristlock. But Pagano wrenches and WRINGS Kofi! Pagano drags Kofi up to wrench and WRING again! And then wrench and WRING again! The fans cheer, but Waller runs in! Pagano WRINGS him out, too! Pagano runs up, jumps up, and MONKEY FLIPS! But Kofi lands out, and he mocks Penta’s swagger! Kofi says, “NEW~ DAY~!” The fans say, “SUCKS~!” Kofi is upset, he runs up, but Pagano hits a SNAP BELLY2BELLY! Psycho storms in and stomps away!

The fans cheer as Psycho y Pagano double whip! Then Psycho sends Pagano in, BOOT! Psycho adds a FOREARM! Then they GAMANGIRI! They snapmare, then “VIVA MEXICO!” DOUBLE BASEMENT DROPKICK! Psycho drags Kofi to a drop zone, goes up, and FALLING SPLIT LEG MOONSAULT! Cover, TWO! Kofi survives and Woods is relieved, but the fans rally for Psycho Clown. Psycho KICKS Kofi, CLUBS him, then whips him. Kofi reverses, Psycho BOOTS back, but Kofi distracts so Waller can bump Psycho off buckles! Kofi DROPKICKS Psycho down! Kofi rains down fists, then climbs up to soak up the heat.

Kofi taunts Pagano, the fans taunt Kofi, but Kofi stomps Psycho! Tag to Waller, Waller rains down fists! Kofi tags in, he stomps Psycho, and Woods explains to Waller this is the stampede. Psycho fires body shots, but Waller throws him to the corner! Tag to Kofi, Kofi whips Waller and he BLASTS Pagano! Then Kofi sends Waller at Psycho Clown, but he dodges! Finn lands on his prince! Iguana goes up to SUPER STEINER! Lola ROUNDHOUSES Finn out! Finn checks on Demonito, and Iguana has Yesca. They build speed, and La Yesca DIVES onto Demonito! The fans go nuts and Finn is in shock! Then Iguana PLANCHAS! Down goes Finn and the fans go nuts again! Roxie spins Lola but ducks the kick! Roxie SOBATS, runs, then hops on, but Lola sends her into ropes! But Raquel distracts!

And then Dos Amigos! The fans cheer “EDDIE! EDDIE!” and Dom gives some more Latino Heat! But Vikingo fights free! Dom CHOPS again, and he finishes THREE AMIGOS! Cover, TWO! Incredible! Unbelievable! Maybe even terrible! But in the end, it is historic! Dom is now a DUAL CHAMPION, the first man to hold an AAA and WWE title at the same time! And though Rey is reluctant, he is a man of his word. He brings the belt to Dom, but Dom demands to put it on Dom! Dom says he’s the effin’ champion, put the belt around his waist!! Rey frowns, but Dom pulls him to center. Dom holds up the Intercontinental Championship high while Rey even more reluctantly wraps the Mega Championship around Dom’s waist. Dom tells Rey to kick rocks now, so Rey leaves, and now The Judgment Day joins Dom in celebration!

El Grande Americano also returns, and he hugs it out with his amigo! The fans cheer as the two “greatest” luchadores stand side by side. Dom says he is TRULY the King of Lucha! What new heights will “El Sucio de Sucios” reach now that he is on top of the world?

My Thoughts:

An awesome event, WWE and AAA are really making this collaboration work. Great promo from Penta, though I’m sure I missed some details, I’m not fluent in Spanish. That 8 Man Tag was awesome, it really fired the fans up, and even commentary noted it let the LWO guys loosen up and pull out their full potential given they’re all lucha libre trained. Great stuff especially from Mascarita Sagrada, and great for him to get the win. Faby VS “Nattie” was great, too, and WWE really needs to let this Bloodsport/AAA side of Natalya shine on Raw. But Nattie winning over Faby was a great surprise, and Nattie VS Flamer will be a great match.

The change of New Day VS Pagano y Psycho Clown to be Kofi & Waller was interesting, but I did like them playing up Woods being deathly afraid of clowns as the reason. And that definitely allowed Psycho Clown’s “ripping his face off” thing to play a part in the match, too. Great win for Pagano y Psycho Clown, but wow, Wyatts showing up to attack was wild. Wyatts VS Pagano y Psycho Clown for at least the AAA tag titles, maybe even both, does sound like a really fun feud. Maybe as fun as this Mixed Tag feud where Iguana and Finn continue to have the puppets fight. Great win for Iguana & Lola, and it was clearly to also help Lola get momentum for her title match with Jacy. Here’s hoping Lola wins the NXT Women’s Championship in a couple weeks so that this all matters.

Awesome Fatal 4 Way, the fans really started to like Lee and JD through this match, but I figured Wagner would retain. Wagner just won that Latin American Championship, he just did the rename, so he had to keep his momentum going. But I wouldn’t mind seeing Wagner and Ethan go 1v1 as Latin American Champion VS North American Champion. And of course, great stuff in the main event as we get Dominik Mysterio making history that no one probably ever thought would be made. Great stuff with Dom being domineering towards his dad. And of course Grande Kaiser was involved, it also builds the story we’ve seen lately. Monday is going to be fun, can’t wait to see how they carry this over.
