The Go Home to Bound For Glory, let’s see if anything spicy happens!

Published

on

NXT Showdown was fun, and I’m assuming it will end up doing more to hype Bound For Glory then the Go Home show. I’m not overly sure if its smart that TNA gives so many good beats to NXT shows where the iMPACT! episodes tend to feel lame, redundant or underwhelming. With that said, yes I expect this episode to be boring as the first 40 minutes of Skinamarink, but as long as Bound for Glory is good I think that’s all most people care about.

Now let’s see how slow this show treads water to fulfill the two hour requirement.

At least The Rascalz are funny.

Ratings:

  • Matt Cardona vs Ryan Nemeth w/His Big Brother: Cardona wins via Radio Silence – **
  • Dango w/The System vs Mustafa Ali w/Order 4: Ali wins via 450 – ***
  • NoDQ Match: Joe Hendry vs Eric Young: EY wins via Piledriver – ***

Results:

Trick Williams opens the show basically as the typical Go Home final heat topping. Trick continues with his tired old Trick -NA, he’s the reason ratings are up, or whatever. I wish the promos from both him and Santana added something instead of the old sad story from Santana and attitude from Trick. They have definitely overplayed the cards in this hand, I think most fans are behind Santana, he’s looked good on the NXT crossover stuff too…but he can’t lose or Santana is done. The beats they’ve wanted Santana and Trick to hit are just tedious at this point.

Matt Cardona vs Ryan Nemeth w/His Big Brother

They pander to the crowd for the first minute before Ryan gets booed and Matt rocks him to the outside, hits the Wrecking Ball Dropkick, and Cardona is in control until Nic distracts Matt on the way back in. Hits the Dropkick into the Rude Awakening on the floor and looks for the countout. Cardona sells until 9 like a moron, 4 minutes into the match, Ryan hits 2 moves and suddenly his too rocked and barely makes it in. Moron pyschology.

Nic gets involved again, Cardona tries a Missile Dropkick but puts the emphasis on Miss and Ryan starts talking smack so he eats a Jawjacker, Cardona perches, Ryan hits him in the throat to stagger him and pose, so Cardona hits his Missile Dropkick cause of course he does. Nic trips Cardona again but the referee sees it and kicks out Nic. Nic throws and Antonio Brown level of temper tantrum, clothes come off, Ryan yells at the referee that it was “His Beeg BRUUTTHHAAR” but Cardona hits the Radio Silence after like 3 minutes of rest. Cardona wins because…no one is surprised.

Dango w/The System vs Mustafa Ali w/Order 4

Early stalemate with Shoulder Tackles, counters, Arm Drags and an early bail out from Ali. Dango tries to grab, but gets tripped up, Dango covers fast and Knife Edge Chops, bounces Ali’s face off the apron and Dango keeps control. A little back and forth as Ali tries to turn things around but a Dropkick sends Ali to the outside again. Both groups square off outside as Dango throws Ali back in, talking shit continues so Ali just dives onto Dango to break up the smack talk. Now Ali throws Dango back in and starts stomping the mudhole into him. Ali takes his time, lays out Dango and goes for the Outside In Rolling Neckbreaker as we go to commercial.

We come back, Dango looks dead, but dodges Ali’s 450, Ali lands on his face, recharges and Dango chucks him into the Buckles face first. Dango getting a comeback spot as they both slowly get up, Dango lands some strikes, Locomotion Corner Uppercuts into Russian Leg Sweep, Ali cuts him off, tries the Tornado DDT but eats the Falcon Arrow from Dango for two. Fashion Cop Alpha perches, but Ali powders, so Cannonball into the Secret Service and Ali gives Dango a nice pop moment from the crowd. Tasha and Lish throw hands, everything breaks down, cat fight in the ring, hockey fight everywhere else, the girls roll out of the ring, but Agent Zero is cleaning house, sloppy Choke Bomb into the apron, but we get it. Throws Dango back in, 450 from Ali, Ali wins.

Kelani and Indi have a boring contract signing, Personal Concierge invokes the rematch clause for the tags, so that’ll be on the pre-show Countdown. Cause as much as I like Maggie Lee, both in ring and aesthetically, no one needs that match on the main card.

Oh Christ more talking with someone who can’t talk. I don’t want to hear Leon Slater struggle with English. go away GIF

NoDQ Match: Joe Hendry vs Eric Young

EY charges, Joe drops him out, chases like a doofus so EY cuts him off, they start trading strikes, Irish Whip, EY does the Flair flip to over the buckle, Joe cuts him off as he’s walking the apron and knocks him off. Then he goes to find weapons under the ring, Garbage Can to the skull from Joe, and he keeps bouncing EY’s face off of things until the cliche Whip reverse into the post. EY takes control, Garbage Can, Apron, other things and then he grabs a chain and starts choking Hendry. EY misses the chain shot, Hendry strikes back a few times before EY throws Hendry into the steps and he goes for the Piledriver on the steps, but Joe blocks it twice and then Back Body Drop to get a moment to breathe.

Hendry keeps control, EY begs off when the action is back in the ring, it stalls Hendry so EY pulls him into the buckles and takes back over. EY clubs him with Elbows up the ramp, Hendry tries to fight back but a thumb from EY puts a stop to things. EY wants the Spicolli Driver off the stage, but Joe fights back, they Rock’Em Sock’Em Robots on the edge of the stage, EY tries another Spicolli, but Joe slips it and Scoop Slam onto the stage. Joe slowly rocks EY back down the ramp to the ring and the commercial break kicks in.

Back from the commercial they’re brawling the crowd, Hendry had control but EY fights back up the steps, rams Hendry into the guard rail on the mezzanine. Hendry turns it around, at least the crowd is really into this. Now they brawl back down the steps. EY has a few “Cleanse is Coming” plants in the crowd to give the announcers space to push the angle, and EY turns the brawl around and finds more weapons. EY with a few chairshot spots, sets up the chair in the corner and reverse Irish sends EY flying into the chair. Baking Sheet a few times, finds a second sheet and Bell Claps EY. Sack of Shit from Hendry into the Kip-Up. Turn and Standing Ovation stomp. EY slips it, rakes the eyes and throws Hendry face first into the corner.

Eric swings wildly with a weapon, misses, Olympic Slam from Hendry onto a Chair for only a near fall! Hendry throws the chair out and then decides, screw it, you want it…but as he’s verbally harassing EY, kick to the nards, Piledriver into the chair and EY wins.

Overall Score: 3/10

Season 2 Episode 21 GIF by The Simpsons

This was entirely too much talking, rehashing and only three matches in two hours. At least two matches weren’t awful, but, Aye dios mio, this was basura. I got nothing, this was phoned in so hard even if it was an email it would get caught in a spam filter. Let’s just hope that Bound For Glory isn’t as creatively bankrupt as this waste of two hours.

IF this was the only episode you watched in the last 2 months, I suppose it did a decent enough job at highlighting the important things for Sunday. But for people who watch weekly…I wish I didn’t, ya get me?
