HPW Investigates: The Glowing Aura Phenomenon, Part 2

It has been six months since our last special report, and now we have a SIXTH star of HPW capable of what everyone is calling, “the Glowing Aura Phenomenon,” or “GAP.”

Reviewing the timeline of events…

And now we add just last Thursday, November 27th, where Ladrona brought out her aura while battling Tali in their Just Desserts match for the HPW Goddess Championship.

HPW Media shares footage from Fyter Feast.

The Thief Girl was sore from that devastating loss, but she was also upset over it. The camera followed her as she stormed down the hall, then into the locker room. She throws off her gloves and elbow pads into her duffel bag in anger, then sits down on the bench. She takes off her boots, then looks in her bag for shoes, but she has a curious look on her face. She looks around and asks, “Did someone go through my stuff?” The only ones here are the Gerudo Sisterhood and they confirm they did not. “Then what’s this doing in my bag?” Ladrona pulls out a championship belt?!

Sage of Shadow Championship - Ladrona

The Gerudo Sisterhood are all shocked and surprised to see that! Buliara says that was like an awesome magic trick, and Aveil says that’s a really cool custom belt. Ladrona says it’s not a magic trick, and she didn’t order this. It wasn’t in her bag before, so who put it there?

During the main event…

Everyone backstage was watching as The Faces of Evil rushed out to help Ganon, so HPW Media shares footage of Riju, Yunobo, Sidon, Thunderbird, and Donny B. Kool rushing out to counter them. Ladrona was still icing up, unsure if she should go, until Majora appeared! Ladrona rushed out after all, and the chaos ensued.

After the main event…

Link and the heroes returned backstage, buzzing with energy on par with the fans about the news. As Donny puts it, “A Fatal 4 Way for the Undisputed HPW Triforce World Championship, Zelda VS Link VS Kage VS Ganon, is wild business! But how could Zelda possibly win that?” Zelda is there waiting as they turn the corner and Donny feels awkward now. Zelda looks at Link, and she says, “See you at HyruleMania.” From there, Zelda leaves, and everyone goes back to the locker rooms. Riju goes to her duffel bag, and now she has a curious look on her face. She also brings out a championship belt!

Sage of Light Championship - Riju

Riju looks to Ladrona and just holds up the belt. Ladrona stands right up and says, “No way! What?!” They look at each of their belts, and then the belts start glowing! And then in a flash of light and energy, they’re just gone?!

In an undisclosed location…

In another flash of light and energy, Ladrona and Riju appear! As do Yunobo, Donny, Thunderbird & Sidon! They’re all startled, and they all ask each other what’s going on and where are they. It appears to be an ancient structure within a cavern. And then Ladrona and Riju notice the guys also have custom belts like theirs!

Sage of Fire - YunoboSage of Water - SidonSage of Wind - TebaSage of Spirit Championship - Donny B. Kool

“Aw man, why does mine say ‘Teba’ and not ‘Thunderbird?'” he asks. “Uh, because we all know you’re actually still Teba,” Donny says. “We’ve all known since like last year when Zelda accidentally unmasked you. Just accept it.” Yunobo blurts out, “He is?!” The others stare at him blankly, despite not being that surprised by his surprise. Thunderbird grumbles, takes off his luchador mask, and Donny pats him on the back. “At least you have your full name,” Donny says. “Although… DBK does make a great abbreviation…”

“Welcome, chosen ones,” a male voice says, “to The Depths.”

The six look over at a glowing hologram of a being, tall and lanky with big, floppy goat ears, and perhaps a goat-like snout. He appears to have three eyes, the third on his forehead, but he keeps it closed. He seems to have accessorized it, as well, with gold painted eyelashes. His hair is long, white, and bushy, going all the way to his feet, which are bare. This goat-like man wears clothing that is itself like ancient civilizations: a shoulder shawl decorated with jade beads and what looks like an owl face sculpted from jade; and a long loincloth also decorated with more beads.

“And I know what you’re wondering,” he says as the others are about to speak. “The Depths is an expanse of caverns deep below the surface of Hyrule, explored and even expanded by my people, the Zonai, in ancient times. I am King Rauru.” Riju asks, “Wait, as in the Sage of Fire, Rauru the Owl?” King Rauru isn’t sure. Perhaps Rauru the Owl was named for him, or is a distant descendant. But for now, King Rauru wants to explain why they were brought to The Depths. Does it have to do with the championship belts they all found in their bags? Yes, in part. It also has to do with their glowing auras during the heat of battle.

“Ohhhh… The Gap!” the group says. King Rauru is a bit befuddled by that name, but at least they’re familiar with it. To help explain, he must first introduce his sister, Lady Mineru. The hologram motions over to the north end of the room, and a big green robot walks up! Ladrona and Riju yelp in surprise while the guys all say, “Cool…!” “Greetings,” the robot says in a female voice. “I am Lady Mineru.” A hologram projects from the robot’s eyes to show a female Zonai. She’s equally as tall as King Rauru, with her own decorated yet closed third eye, but with a short bob cut. Instead of a shawl, she has a jade choker necklace, a flowing sash, and a simple bodice.

“Oh, wait!” Yunobo says. “This is just like that TV show from when I was a kid! A group of racially diverse young people are chosen to be the heroes of the world by an ancient alien being and their robot assistant!” Rauru and Mineru are both befuddled this time, but Sidon perks up. “Oh, yeah! I remember that show! Does that mean we all get giant fighting robots?!” The group gets excited hearing that, but Mineru awkwardly speaks up. “Um, no, sorry, we don’t have… giant fighting robots…” The group all says, “Aw…” Mineru has a sheepish smile as she says, “But the rest of that does seem about right.”

Mineru’s robot projects the same six symbols on the belts. “Do you recognize these symbols?” Teba says, “They adorn one of the side plates of the Triforce Championship.” Riju says, “I think Rauru, uh, Rauru the Owl, used the red one when he was the Sage of Fire.” Sidon adds, “I recognize someone once using the blue one, and calling themselves the Sage of Water.” Mineru says, “That is correct. In the ancient days, when Hyrule first established peace through professional wrestling, being a Sage was an honorary title, denoting that person was not only talented, but of outstanding moral character.”

The others look at Ladrona, and she says, “What? ‘Thief Girl’ is just a nickname because of how I ‘steal’ hearts and victories. I don’t actually commit crimes.” Mineru continues to explain that it was very rare for a generation to produce even one Sage, and yet there are now six! Surely this is a sign of something both great, and terrifying. The group is a bit worried, and Riju says, “Well, HyruleMania is coming up, and we’re all in the first Absolute Anarchy match in literal decades.” Now Rauru and Mineru look to each other with concern. Rauru asks, “An… Absolute Anarchy, you say?”

Now the group of six Sages are really worried. Riju says, “Yes… Is that bad?” Rauru remembers back to those same “ancient days” of pro-wrestling. “A sadistic warlord led a fearsome faction, looking to dominate the entire landscape of the sport. Standing against them was a young hero and his allies, gathered from around the world.” A new hologram appears of a wild scene of two warring sides. Donny says, “Yo, that dude looks like Ganon!” Riju says, “And the young hero looks a lot like Link!” “And there!” Yunobo says. “The young hero’s allies look kinda like us.” Ladrona says, “You’re right. There’s a Goron, a Zora, a Ruto, a Gerudo, some Hylians, and even Reptilians.”

The six of them look at their belts and recognize the symbols also spread throughout the hologram mural. This really is destiny or something, isn’t it? There’s no doubt about it! They are… THE SIX SAGES! All six raise their belts together, the glowing returns, and the Zonai siblings proudly smile. But knowing now that this match means so much more than just winning a match, will our young heroes be up to the task? Or will this New Year’s Eve be when darkness falls on all of Hyrule?
