Kendal Grey has been on a roll as WWE Evolve Women’s Champion, but she must now defend against TWO opponents at the same time!

The Space Cowboy says the PC GOATs are here, Team ID no longer belongs! Keanu says yea, bruh! Those boys got packed out! And Braxton says there’s just a few more lingering gnats buzzing around: The Vanity Project. Kam says Evolve was their place, but now it’s The PC’s, and they’ll beat it into them. Especially when Kam takes that Evolve Men’s Championship off of Jackson Drake! Harley says yeah, it’s time for Lights, Kam-era, Action. They’re ready, but are they planning their episode takeover already?

The Vanity Project also arrives.

Ricky Smokes says, “New Year, same rules, and the boys are still buzzing.” Brad Baylor says, “Hundos, smokes. And honestly, it doesn’t really matter what Kam Hendrix and the PC crumbs have to say.” Jackson Drake says, “Fo sho. I’ve been Evolve Champion for more than 250 days. I stack dubs like it’s my job.” But then Team ID’s Aaron Rourke, Eli Knight, and Cappuccino Jones walk in. Look at this. Are you hearing it? Rourke is hearing it, and it is very cute, Vanity Project. Eli isn’t sure if Vanity Project heard, but Kam is a former pro defensive linebacker with a defensive line backing him up. Rourke adds that he has a little power to control the odds.

Drake asks what gives these three the right to speak to them? Brad says that’s right, because these three VPs have been running the place since day one. Cappuccino says chill, cuz VP ain’t running nothing. And the PC boys are gonna take their spots real quick. Judging by how the “most dominant group in Evolve” has been nowhere to be found in this entire PC VS ID thing, or are VP the ones that are scared? Once PC wipes VP out, then ID has nothing. Brad says ease up, Cap. Literally no one cares. Smokes says, “Irregardless of what they say…” Cap notes that is not a real word… Smokes says V’s up.

Drake tells the bean poles they can find out what Vanity Project is made of. Then they can go cry along with the PC boys. Is that a challenge? VP heads out, Team ID says no one is scared of them. But will the real heart of the ID Program show everyone their worth? Or will Vanity Project get the win to celebrate signing with NXT?

From taking this title at Succession, to winning her first-ever Iron Survivor Challenge, to almost adding the NXT Women’s Championship to her collection, the Ice Woman of Evolve has truly been everywhere and doing everything. But now, she not only faces the former champion, but she must watch out for the LFG standout that’s every bit as powerful and imposing. Will the Grey Area still be golden after tonight? Will the Pride of Inglewood be back on top? Or will everyone have an Issue with PJ Vasa?

The introductions are made, the belt is raised, and we see who is the true alpha female!

Karmen Petrovic is in the VIP Lounge to watch this match in person. She’s been on a win streak of her own, so she surely plans on being the next #1 contender. The bell rings and the fans rally as the three watch each other. PJ eggs the others on, so Kendal goes for a leg. PJ THROWS Kendal away, but Kali fires body shots. PJ HEADBUTTS Kali away, but Kendal jumps on PJ for a SLEEPER! PJ RAMS Kendal into a corner, Kali comes back to fire hands. Kali kicks, PJ blocks, and PJ LARIATS Kali down! PJ runs at Kendal, she goes up and out and under! Kendal runs, redirects, and DROPKICKS the leg out! Then DROPKICKS PJ!

PJ staggers, Kali DROPKICKS now, but PJ is still up! So Kendal & Kali DOUBLE DROPKICK! PJ tumbles out of the ring hard while Kali and Kendal kip up. They stare down, and Kali fires a haymaker! Kendal fires back, they go back and forth, and the fans fire up! Kali fireman’s carries, but Kendal sunset flips !Kali sits on it, ONE and Kendal has it! ONE, and Kendal ROCKS and CHOPS Kali! Kendal whips, Kali reverses, POP-UP HAYMAKER! PJ is up but Kali BLASTS her back down! Kali runs up, Kendal dodges, OVERHEAD BELLY2BELLY! The fans fire up, and Kendal GAMANGIRIS PJ off the apron!

Kendal goes out to the apron, leaps at PJ, but PJ catches her with a guzel! PJ snarls at Kendal, but Kali runs in! PJ moves outta the way, SPEAR on Kendal! Then PJ SPEARS Kali! PJ talks trash as she stands tall, and Evolve goes to break.

Evolve returns, PJ whips Kali into Kendal at the corner, then she runs up to SPLASH them both! PJ throws Kali aside, puts Kendal up top, but Kali runs back in. PJ catches Kali with the guzel, then fireman’s carries her! PJ adds Kendal to the stack! The fans fire up, but Kendal slips free! PJ still BOOTS Kendal down before the SAMOAN DROP on Kali! Cover, TWO! PJ is annoyed with Kali, drags her back up, and reels her in. But Kendal is back and she SUPERKICKS PJ! Kendal fires haymakers on PJ, then forearms and CHOPS! Kendal whips, PJ reverses, but Kendal grabs the ropes! Kendal then dodges PJ to SNAP GERMAN!

The fans fire up with Kendal, and she grabs the ANKLE LOCK!! GRAPEVINE!! PJ endures, reaches out, and the fans rally for Kendal, only for Kali to DIVING SPLASH outta nowhere! Even Wren is shocked, and all three women are down! The fans rally up while Wren coaches Kendal up. Kali rises first, followed by PJ, and Kali bobs ‘n’ weaves to fire JAB after JAB! PJ wobbles, Kali gives some rope-a-dope, and she ROCKS PJ! Kendal swings, Kali dodges, SPINEBUSTER on the champ! But PJ reels Kali in, BIG back suplex! Kali lands out, shoves PJ, and SNAP POWERSLAMS! The fans fire up with Kali while PJ writhes!

Kali is feeling it, and she builds speed, only for a FLYING SHADES OF GREY!! Cover, KENDAL WINS!

Karmen shakes her head but she’s all smiles, because even she’s impressed with how the champion snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. Grey still has gold, but Chuey Martinez interviews Karmen to ask, “What’s the problem?” Karmen says Kali keeps talking about being the difference maker around here and carrying Evolve on her back, but lately, it’s just been failure after failure. How many chances is she gonna get? Kali had her moment, and now it is done! Kali gets mad, she wants after Karmen, but the refs hurry to stop her. Kali says Karmen’s talking real big with security between them! Where’s that sword of hers? So Kali can shove it up Karmen’s-

WHOA~! Security and refs get Kali out of here, but will she be making a Kali Connection with Karmen soon enough? Or will the blackbelt finally add some gold to her résumé?

The Son of the Gentlemanly Villain had to push the Professor of Pain’s buttons, but he finally gets the match that he’s wanted for years. But will Dempsey prove he is the best technical wrestler alive today? Or will he regret waking up this sleeping lion?

The bell rings, the two tie up, and Dempsey wrenches an arm. Thatcher wrenches in return, but Dempsey fights off the double wristlock to roll him up. ONE, Thatcher goes for a leg, and he drags Dempsey from the ropes. Dempsey tries a leg guard but Thatcher steps over to step on a hand. Thatcher twists Dempsey’s wrist, powers him down, and steps on Dempsey’s face. Dempsey kips up, wrenches through, and then gets under to NORTHERN LIGHTS! Dempsey keeps on the arm but Thatcher fights with a forearm. Thatcher tries a headscissor but Dempsey fights it off. Dempsey headlocks, Thatcher rolls, and Thatcher pries his way free of the headlock.

Thatcher KNEES Dempsey in the back! Then he traps the legs, but Dempsey goes for a leg in return. Thatcher has the chinlock, then the BOW ‘N’ ARROW! Dempsey endures, pops free, and has the headlock! The fans rally as Thatcher fights around. Thatcher fights up but Dempsey has the cravat. Thatcher chinbars but Dempsey puts on the pressure. Thatcher uses a swim move to get Dempsey’s arm. Thatcher CLUBS the arm, KNEES the arm, then traps the arm in a hammerlock. Thatcher then hooks the arm with his legs to SNAP LOCK! The fans wince, and even Drake Morreaux and Carlee Bright as they watch from the VIP Lounge.

Dempsey goes for a triangle hold, but Thatcher stacks him! ONE, and Thatcher is free to KICK Dempsey in the back! Thatcher stands Dempsey up to UPPERCUT! Dempsey UPPERCUTS back! Thatcher returns, catches the next shot, and wrangles Dempsey to the FUJIWARA ARMBAR! Dempsey scrambles to the ROPEBREAK! Thatcher lets go, but then he UPPERCUTS Dempsey right outta the ring! The fans cheer while Dempsey sputters, and Evolve goes to break.

Evolve returns and Thatcher has Dempsey in a GUILLOTINE FACELOCK! Dempsey endures, so Thatcher turns it into a BIG suplex! Cover, TWO! Thatcher keeps on Dempsey with a double wristlock, but Dempsey clasps hands to fight it off. Thatcher stands on Dempsey to pry at the grip. Dempsey holds on, so Thatcher KNEES him in the side! Then he stands up to YANKS the arm! Dempsey writhes but he hurries to a corner. Thatcher storms over but Dempsey trips him! Dempsey has a leg and YANKS it! Thatcher snarls as he goes to ropes, but Dempsey CHOP BLOCKS! Dempsey then hooks a leg in a standing toehold, and bridges into an INVERTED MUTA LOCK!

The fans rally as Thatcher endures, and he CHOPS Dempsey! And CHOPS! And CLUBS him! Dempsey lets go, Thatcher clamps onto a leg, and both Drake and Carlee are taking mental notes of what they’re seeing. Thatcher steps on Dempsey and pulls on his arm! Not quite a Disarm-Her, but still painful. Dempsey reaches out to a ROPEBREAK! The ref counts, Thatcher drags Dempsey up, but Dempsey chinbars while hooking a leg. Thatcher bends fingers, but Dempsey slips around to trip Thatcher again! Dempsey hooks Thatcher’s legs up, then SNAP LOCKS the deathlock! Thatcher endures, even as Dempsey SNAP LOCKS again!

Dempsey shifts, he CLUBS Thatcher, digs elbows into the shoulders, and then has a chinlock! Thatcher endures this modified STF and the fans rally again. Thatcher drags Dempsey down by his arm, and FUJIWARA- NO, Dempsey rolls and gut wrenches! Dempsey powers up to GUT WRENCH PLEX! The fans fire up while both men are down! But even then, Thatcher KICKS Dempsey in the back! Dempsey stands to stomp Thatcher down! Thatcher KICKS Dempsey’s leg, Dempsey stomps again, then Dempsey stands Thatcher up just to UPPERCUT him down! Dempsey steps through and has the INDIAN DEATHLOCK!

Thatcher snarls, has the guzel on Dempsey, but the ref reprimands as it is basically a choke. Thatcher lets go, and he endures as Dempsey puts on the pressure. Thatcher SLAPS Dempsey, but Dempsey stomps away on the legs! Dempsey lets the hold go so he can facelock, butterfly, but Thatcher fights the lift! Thatcher wrenches, clinches, and BELLY2BELLY SUPLEXES! The fans rally up while Thatcher crawls after Dempsey. Dempsey goes to a corner, then shoots in and trips Thatcher! Dempsey puts on the pressure, but Thatcher CLUBS Dempsey. Thatcher chinbars but Dempsey shifts around to cover, ONE as Thatcher CLUBS Dempsey!

Dempsey gets the legs again, stepover toehold, then he has the other leg in a twist! The fans rally as Thatcher endures, and he reaches back to chinbar Dempsey. Thatcher pries Dempsey off the legs so he can KNEE Dempsey in the side! And KNEE him again! Thatcher SLAPS Dempsey again, then covers, TWO! The fans rally as as Thatcher stalks Dempsey. Thatcher’s leg bothers him, and Dempsey gets an arm! Dempsey fires off the SLAPS and CHOPS he learned in Pro-Wrestling Noah, then he BRIDGING DRAGON SCREWS the leg! Dempsey has the leg again but Thatcher fights the turnover! Dempsey kicks and stomps Thatcher, but Thatcher snatches the arm!

The fans rally as Thatcher goes for the Fujiwara! Dempsey rolls, has the leg, and steps over to a KNEEBAR! Thatcher fights that to stand over Dempsey, and drop into the ARMBAR! Dempsey flails, rolls again, and he has the ANKLE LOCK! Thatcher endures, reaches out, and he uses the British Reel to bring Dempsey in! DOUBLE WRISTLOCK TAKEDOWN! Jackson Drake & Swipe Right already have a foot out the Evolve door given they just signed their NXT contracts, but they still think they run the silver ‘n’ purple. Will they prove themselves right? Or will this caffeinated, bedazzled and athletic combination prove they’re the real heart of WWE ID?

Laynie Luck is now in the VIP Lounge, the WWE ID Women’s Champion here to support WWE ID Men’s Champion, Cappuccino Jones, and all her brothers-in-arms in the WWE ID Program. The big fight main event introductions are given, and it’s time to see who really knows how to Evolve!

The trios sort out and Smokes starts against Rourke. They circle, tie up, and are in a deadlock. Rourke goes for an arm, Smokes tries a chinbar, but Rourke wrenches through to the wristlock. Smokes wrenches back for an ELBOW BREAKER, then wristlocks. Rourke flips through with the ropes and arm-drags Smokes away! Smokes comes back, Rourke wrenches, but Smokes CHOPS! The fans boo, but then Rourke CHOPS! The fans fire up and Rourke CHOPS again! Smokes ducks the next one, but Rourke SPANKS Smokes! Smokes frowns, runs up, but into a DISCUS BOOT from Rourke! The fans cheer and Rourke drags Smokes up.

Smokes powers out of the suplex, he and Rourke both stagger to their corners, and both Brad and Cappuccino tag in. Brad dodges Jones to CLUB him in the back, then whips him to ropes. Jones reverses, hurdles, and MONKEY FLIPS Brad! Brad staggers up, but into a DROPKICK! Cover, ONE! Jones ROCKS Brad, tags Eli, and they double whip to DOUBLE ELBOW Brad down! Eli runs to ROLLING THUNDER SPLASH! Cover, TWO! Eli brings Brad up, wrenches the arm, and grinds the shoulder. Brad fights up, pulls hair, and he puts Eli in the VP corner. Tag to Drake and he stomps away on Eli! The fans boo, the ref counts, and Drake stops at 4.

Smokes shouts at Eli, “Welcome to Evolve, baby!” Drake stands Eli up but Eli fires body shots. Drake headlocks, Eli powers up and out, but Drake RUNS Eli over! Things keep moving, Eli hurdles and drops down, then he DROPKICKS Drake! The fans fire up, Drake tags Smokes, and Smokes tags Brad! Eli dodges Smokes to DROPKICK Brad, and Rourke SMACKS Smokes! Jones SMACKS Smokes, Eli mule kicks, and Eli runs to DOUBLE STOMP! Smokes tumbles out and regroups with the Vanity Project. Rourke is all fired up, and he gives Eli a sporting spank. Eli builds speed to FLY! Down goes Drake!

The fans fire up with Eli, and even Laynie is loving this! Eli dares Smokes to do something. Smokes says timeout but Eli runs up, only for Brad to BOOT Eli down! Vanity Project talks trash but the fans boo, and Evolve goes to break.

Evolve returns once again, and Brad UPPERCUTS Eli to the VP corner. Tag to Smokes and Brad says time to Swipe Right! Smokes whips Brad in and he RAMS Eli! Brad then feeds Eli to Smokes’ BOOT! Cover, TWO! Eli is tougher than that, but Smokes stomps him back down. Smokes feints at Rourke but Rourke doesn’t flinch. Smokes drags Eli up, puts him in a corner, and he stomps a mudhole into Eli. Tag to Drake, Drake brings Eli around, but the fans rally for Eli. Drake KNEES and CLUBS Eli again and again! Then he CLAWS Eli’s back! FISHERMAN SUPLEX! Bridging cover, TWO! Eli escapes but Drake BLASTS Jones & Rourke!

The fans boo, but Drake snapmares Eli to KICK and CHOP and SENTON! Cover, TWO! Eli is still in this, but Drake drags him to the VP corner. Tag to Brad, Brand ELBOW DROPS, then he eggs Eli on. Jones LARIATS Brad again and again, then DROPKICKS Smokes! Jones dodges Drake to BACKDROP him! Then he dodges Brad to springboard, FLYING BACK ELBOW! The fans fire up and Jones scoops Brad for a MICHINOKU DRIVER! Cover, Smokes breaks it! Rourke returns to run up on Smokes! Cartwheel and SOLE FOOD! Drake is in, he wrenches Rourke to fireman’s carry and GUT BUSTER DROP! Eli clinches Drake for the STANDING SLICED BREAD! But Brad runs up to SHOTGUN Eli out! Jones BOOTS Brad! And he DECKS Smokes! Then he dodges Brad to SNAP HALF ‘N’ HALF! Brad flounders, Drake is back, but Jones kicks him first!

The fans don’t like it, but even at just three men, the numbers game is in Vanity Project’s favor! Will no one ever bring them down? Wait! Kam Hendrix and Team PC step out on stage. The fans boo, but Kam has the mic to say, “Yo, party’s over, clowns. I’m sick of y’all acting like you’re… Well, us.” Riggins says, “What, you think you guys think you’re cool or something? You sorry ass clowns. You’re just like the rest of those clowns in the back! HAHAHA!” Braxton asks if he should say it or does Kam want to. Kam says he’s got this. Since Team ID won the gauntlet match, Kam gets his title shot against Jackson Drake!

Presley asks if that’s when Team PC runs the show in two weeks. Kam says even better. In two weeks, when PC runs the show, Kam doesn’t want his title shot that night. What? Kam says in two weeks, when PC runs everything in Evolve, it will be Jackson Drake VS Keanu Carver, Harley Riggins, AND Jax Presley! A 3v1 Handicap Match! Smokes & Brad say that’s BS! Drake is the champ! Drake is beside himself, but Kam says whatever scraps are left will then defend the title against Drake the following week! Vanity Project finally feels what it is to be bullied, but can the Carolina Reaper survive when the odds are this stacked against him?

The Modern Day Cowboy feels like he really is walking this road alone. The one noble heart of the Performance Center shakes his head as he heads out. Will he have to be the one to do the right thing around here?

My Thoughts:

A very good episode of Evolve, and the roster turnover is perhaps happening right before our eyes. I’m surprised the Women’s Championship Triple Threat was not the main event, even with everything else going on. Great finish with Kendal hitting her finisher outta nowhere, and I’m surprised Karmen was starting beef with Kali and not Kendal. Karmen VS Kali will be great, but I feel like Karmen is going to win so that she moves up in the Evolve ranks while Kali becomes a full-time NXT superstar. Of course, Wendy Choo is also in the title chase, so Wendy and Karmen might face off on the road to the next title match.

Great match from Dempsey VS Thatcher, but this really should’ve been an NXT story instead of Evolve. I guess Thatcher isn’t a “player coach” in NXT, but they could kayfabe that as much as anything. Sadly, I did get the sense of what Gunther and Zack Sabre Jr. talk about when it comes to technical wrestling and American crowds. But all the more reason this should’ve been on NXT, the NXT crowd tends to like all styles, not just the casual WWE stuff. Dempsey winning was a little surprising, but that’s great stuff for him. Not sure where Dempsey goes from here with the Evolve Championship spoken for, but maybe he takes the long route to the top.

With that opening promo, I really thought Team PC was taking over tonight and were going to almost Money in the Bank cash-in Kam’s title shot. But instead, we got a really good Six Man Tag main event that of course The Vanity Project won. And while I’ve been annoyed by Team PC getting all the stuff over Team ID, that’s to put Heel heat on them so that we’ll all cheer Team ID. Drake stuck in a Handicap match, and then defending the title the week after, not sure that helps any kind of Face turn given how they’ve been.
