Given the controversy at Gold Rush, Sean Legacy has one more opportunity at the WWE Evolve Championship! But will it be his last?

OFFICIAL RESULTS

  • Karmen Petrovic VS Laynie Luck; Karmen wins.
  • No Disqualifications: Chantel Monroe VS Wendy Choo; Wendy wins.
  • WWE Evolve Championship: Jackson Drake VS Sean Legacy; Drake wins and retains the title.

PLAY BY PLAY

Sean Legacy arrives backstage.

The Super #1 contender sees Evolve Media waiting for him, and he says, “What up, guys? Last year completely changed my life. I received my WWE ID contract, I got to compete at The Theater in Madison Square Garden. I also got to wrestle for NXT, I got to challenge for the North American Championship. I also got to be a part of the Speed Tournament. Look, the list goes on and on. But that was last year. 2025 was super for Sean Legacy, but this is a now business. This is a, ‘What have you done for me lately?’ business. This is a, ‘Hey, Sean, that was great, but what else you got for me?’ business.

“I mean, let’s make 26 better than 25, right? It’s starting out a little tough, especially with the WWE ID-PC war that’s going on. But outta the gate to make 26 super, it’s all about the Evolve Championship. Now, The Vanity Project still holds all the power in the men’s division, especially with Jackson Drake as champion. But the Land of Opportunity I once knew Evolve as, it’s starting to look scary. But hey, that’s why I gotta win, right? That’s why I gotta win tonight. Because if I don’t, I don’t know what happens to Evolve. And I damn sure don’t wanna find out.” Can Sean Legacy be the hero Evolve deserves? Or will the Carolina Reaper keep Unaliving opponents?

Karmen Petrovic VS Laynie Luck!

The Blackbelt Beauty is ready to Shing Shing in the New Year, but she’s about to face the NEW WWE ID Women’s Champion, who might be a little #TooTurnt for her. Will Karmen keep her momentum from 2025 alive? Or will she run out of luck against Laynie?

The bell rings, the two tie up, and Laynie waistlocks then snapmares to ghost pin! ONE, Karmen sweeps to cover, ONE! The two stand off and the fans cheer. Karmen and Laynie reset, tie up, and Karmen waistlocks. Laynie switches then SLAMS Karmen, then flips her over. But Karmen kips up to arm-drag, only for Laynie to handspring through! Laynie wags her finger, runs back up, but Karmen trips her! Karmen flips Laynie over to cover, TWO! Karmen grinds the arm and the fans rally as Laynie endures. Laynie fights up, whips Karmen to a corner, but Karmen JUMP SOBATS! Karmen runs up, but into a scoop and- NO, Karmen makes it a REVERSE DDT! Cover, TWO!

The fans cheer but Karmen keeps Laynie down with another armlock. Laynie fights up, powers Karmen back, but Karmen puts her in the corner. Karmen grinds her forearm in, but she backs off as the ref counts. Karmen runs back in, but Laynie dodges! Laynie UPPERCUTS, ELBOWS, and fireman’s carries, but Karmen fights free. Karmen shoves, but Laynie catches her to a gator roll and BIG suplex! The fans cheer as Laynie kips up, and the fans chant “We Turnt Up!” Laynie nods and whips Karmen to the corner, then runs up to RAM her! Laynie then scoops Karmen to put her in the Tree of Woe! The ref reprimands but Laynie goes corner to corner.

Laynie comes back, but Karmen sits up! Laynie crashes into buckles! Karmen adjusts position, then leaps, SHING-BLADE! The fans fire up while Laynie flounders. Karmen winds up to BODY BLOW, to CHOP, then she dodges to make Laynie EAT DA FEET! Then a SLIDING KICK at the ropes! The fans fire up again and Karmen ROUNDHOUSES Laynie! Karmen runs, ducks ‘n’ dodges, but Laynie scoops to POWERSLAM! Cover, TWO! Karmen survives and the fans fire up! Laynie hurries to put Karmen in a drop zone, then she goes up the corner. Laynie aims, but Karmen dodges the double stomps!

Karmen SUPERKICKS Laynie, then winds up, PETROFIER! Cover, Karmen wins!

Winner: Karmen Petrovic, by pinfall

A great Evolve debut for Laynie, but a great win for Karmen to ruin it! Will Karmen climb the ranks until she’s aiming right for that Evolve Women’s Championship?

The Vanity Project walks ‘n’ talks backstage.

Brad Baylor says Jackson Drake just cannot shake that Sean Legacy. Ricky Smokes says Sean’s like that chick you only talk to because her hotter friend is taken, and yet she thinks you’re into her and won’t leave you alone. Drake says exactly, he is just a pest! Like these crumbs over here! Aaron Rourke, Eli Knight, Marcus Mathers, Cappuccino Jones & Sam Holloway are catching flack now because they lost the 10 Man Gauntlet. Sam says they better choose their words wisely. Drake says, “Didn’t you just get back here?” Eli says not to bother with these guys, they’re the reason why Evolve is the way it is.

Drake asks who even is Eli, but Marcus says Eli catches on quick. And here’s a big fact about Vanity Project: The only reason they’re even relevant is because Drake has the title. Oh, is that right? Cappuccino says yes, it is. In fact, Sean Legacy’s gonna take that title off Drake, and 2o26 starts off right. Is this why they call him “Cap” Jones? Cuz he’s a filthy, stinkin’ liar! Tensions are mounting but Brad has his guys back off. It’s not worth it. VP runs Evolve, and Drake will dust Sean. Vanity Project heads out, but the rest of Team ID says Sean’s gonna handle business. Will Evolve finally be Super after tonight’s main event?

BREAKING NEWS for next Wednesday!

While Kendal Grey has been on a roller coaster ride going for the NXT Women’s Championship, she has her own Evolve Women’s Championship to worry about! Especially now that she’s in a TRIPLE THREAT with Kali Armstrong AND PJ Vasa! Will the Ice Woman be able to bring both female titans into the Grey Area? Or will the numbers spell disaster for her next week?

No Disqualifications: Chantel Monroe VS Wendy Choo!

Speaking of the Evolve Women’s title, The Reflection of Perfection was kept from it because the formerly Sleepy Psycho woke up and chose violence. However, that was only because Chantel couldn’t keep from bullying Wendy every chance she got. Now the proverbial gloves are off and the rules are out the window! Will Chantel put Wendy behind her and head back to the title picture? Or will Wendy stop the the Showstopping Diva in her tracks?

Wendy doesn’t even wait for her own entrance! She just attacks during Chantel’s! The fans fire up for the brawl, and they move from ramp to ringside. Wendy SMACKS Chantel off the apron, but Chantel fires forearms in return! Wendy RAMS Chantel, CLUBS away on her, and the fans fire up more. Chantel ROCKS Wendy in return, then SMACKS her off the apron! Chantel puts Wendy in the ring, goes looking under, and she brings out a trash can, the lid, and a chair! Chantel puts the chair in first, then the lid. Chantel looks inside the can, and brings out what looks to be a bottle of hairspray.

Chantel shoves the can in the ring, the bell finally sounds, but Wendy dodges the lid to fire kicks and forearms! Wendy whips, but Chantel reverses to then SMACK Wendy with the trash can lid! And SMACK her again! Chantel runs, but Wendy hits a THESZ PRESS! Wendy rains down fists but Chantel shoves her away. Wendy CLOBBERS Chantel anyway and the fans fire up! Wendy grabs the trash can, sits it up in a corner, and then brings Chantel over. Wendy scoops Chantel to put her in both the Tree of Woe and the trash can! The fans fire up as Wendy runs corner to corner and back again, DROPKICK into the can!

The fans fire up while Chantel flops out of the Tree! Wendy goes looking under the ring, and she brings out the fan favorite: a TABLE! The fans cheer as “Slim Jim” debuts on Evolve, but Evolve goes to break.

Evolve returns and Chantel has Wendy down now. Chantel also has a chair, and she JAMS Wendy again and again! Then she SMACKS Wendy on the side! The fans boo but Chantel wedges the chair into a corner. Chantel grabs that hairspray, and she says time for a makeover! But Wendy blocks the spray and ROCKS Chantel! The fans fire up as Wendy whips, but Chantel stops from hitting the chair! Chantel ELBOWS Wendy, then storms up to bring her around. But Wendy whips Chantel into the chair after all! The fans fire up, and Wendy hurries out to fetch that chair. Wendy brings it back in while Chantel staggers around.

Wendy JAMS Chantel up again and again, then SMACKS her on the back! And SMACKS her again! The fans fire up with Wendy, and she hurries side to side to BOOT Chantel in a corner! Then GERMAN SUPLEX! Wendy pushes Chantel to a cover, TWO! But into the DIRTNAP!! Chantel flails, reaches out, but Wendy grabs at that free arm! Chantel grabs the hairspray! Chantel MISTS Wendy right in the face! Wendy lets go, and Chantel hurries to SUPERKICK her down! Chantel staggers her way around, finds the trash can, and the fans boo as Chantel sets that up in the drop zone. Chantel then goes up the corner, METEORA down on the can! Cover, TWO!!

The fans fire up as Wendy survives! Chantel is furious, but she drags Wendy around. Chantel has Wendy back in the drop zone, then puts the chair over Wendy’s head! The fans boo as Chantel goes up the corner again. But Wendy gets up and she CHUCKS the can at her! Chantel tumbles back down, Wendy brings her over to the chair, GOURD- DDT on the chair!! Cover, TWO!! Wendy survives again and Chantel is freaking out! Chantel looks, and she sees the table! Chantel sets the table up in the drop zone, making sure it is positioned just right. But Wendy HAIRSPRAYS Chantel! The fans fire up as Wendy puts Chantel on the table!

Wendy hurries up the corner, but Chantel slips off the table to go after Wendy! The fans boo as Chantel fires forearms and says Wendy is nothing! Chantel clinches, but Wendy turns that around on Chantel! DIRTNAP on the second rope!! The fans fire up as Chantel is going night-night! But Wendy tops it off with a FULL NELSON BOMB through the TABLE!! Cover, WENDY WINS!!

Winner: Wendy Choo, by pinfall

Wendy has both sweet victory and sweet revenge in one move! She broke the table, and maybe Chantel’s spirit, and Chuey Martinez is ringside to say make some noise, y’all! Congratulations on the victory, and now the trauma can be put behind her as she becomes a new Wendy Choo. What is next for her? Wendy says that for a very, very long time, she lived in silence. But that’s over! The fans cheer that! Wendy says she’ll show a new her, the REAL her! Next week, she knows that there are three women in that Evolve Women’s Championship match. Whoever comes out the winner, just know Wendy will put them to sleep!

Chuey says make some noise, y’all! Wendy makes her way up the ramp, and Kendal Grey is there to welcome her! Kendal respects Wendy calling out the winner, but Kendal ain’t being put to sleep, and she already made Wendy scream once. After Kendal gets through Kali and PJ, she’ll just do it again. Wendy says that was the old Wendy. Kendal can’t beat THIS Wendy! Well, we’ll see. Wendy is ready to Evolve, but will she get another shot at the Grey Area? Or will there soon be a new champion in the New Year?

Trill London speaks.

“All my life, I heard, ‘There’s something about you, Trill, but we just can’t quite put our finger on it.’ Maybe I just see the world in a different lens. Because in this world, you can really be anybody you wanna be. So that’s what I am. That’s why I design my own clothes. Y’see, my drip is just an extension of me and my imagination. Am I misunderstood sometimes? Yeah. Been labeled an outcast once or twice. But somehow, someway, I’ve always found myself at the focal point. I was recruited to Syracuse to play football, I could envision the plays before they happened. And that’s what led me to play for the Miami Dolphins and lock down your favorite receivers every week.

“Yo, and it’s crazy how the world works, and where my imagination has taken me. Because I remember my grandma sitting me down and putting Judgment Day on in 2007, and here I am now, in the WWE, in Evolve! So as I evolve in that ring in front of you all, you won’t be able to put your finger on it, but… Just enjoy the show. And that’s not me keeping it real with you, that’s just me keeping it Trill with you.” This eccentric enigma is ready to Evolve, but how high and how far will he go in the New Year?

Kam Hendrix speaks.

“This is a big moment right now. Because you, the WWE Universe, gets the privilege to see this face on your screen. C’mere, come a little closer. Get used to seeing it, people, because for the next 20 years, Kam Hendrix is gonna be all over it. I know I sound cocky, but facts is facts. Kam Hendrix is the complete package: D1 athlete, face like a model, and if charisma was water, you’d need a life jacket right now. I proved everything I say is the truth on LFG. And now, I’m taking my talents to Evolve. So here’s a pro tip: Sit back, relax, and enjoy the show. Because when I step in the ring, it’s Lights, Kam, Action.”

Layla Diggs & Masyn Holiday set up for another video.

They count it out, and they start up the dance. Little bit of lean with it, rock with it! Arianna Grace mockingly says aww, are they filming TikToks? That’s so sweet. So sweet that they think anyone cares. Rude..But then Nikkita Lyons walks in and does the same mocking tone, “Aw, are you guys filming TikToks? That’s so sweet that you think anybody cares.” Arianna says OMG, she just did that same joke! Nikkita says they are so aligned! Okay, okay, what is the opposite of going viral? They both say, “Masyn & Layla!” What about astrological signs? Arianna is a Cancer, Lyons is a Leo, they got a lot to talk about!

Lyons and Arianna head out, Masyn mocks their OMG~, and Layla asks if those two are delusional. Will Layla & Masyn just have to teach Lyons how to lose with Grace? Or will Nikkita’s pride only grow now that she’s found a kindred spirit?

WWE Evolve Championship: Jackson Drake w/ Swipe Right VS Sean Legacy!

Two men who were scouted by WWE ID, brought to Evolve, and have been here since day one, already have a storied rivalry that defined 2025. Even now, the first Evolve of 2026 will end with them battling it out one more time! But will the Carolina Reaper keep turning up the heat? Or will the purple ‘n’ silver finally be Super?

The introductions are made, the belt is raised, and we see who punctuates this new chapter!

Watching from the VIP Lounge, we have Cappuccino Jones, Aaron Rourke & Mike Cunningham. They’re locked in as they watch their guy, Sean, fire hands with Drake! The fans cheer as Sean puts Drake in a corner and CHOPS him down! Sean bumps Drake off buckles, CHOPS him again, and again Drake flounders around. Sean bumps Drake off more buckles, CHOPS again, then whips Drake to ropes. Sean HIP TOSSES Drake down, KICKS Drake in the back, then covers, ONE! Drake is up but Sean headlocks to bring him around. Drake slips free, he goes for a buckle bump, but Sean blocks that to dribble Drake off the buckles!

The fans cheer, the ref counts, but Sean winds up to SMACK Drake off the top! Drake flounders again, btu Sean steps on Drake’s hand. The fans rally behind “LE-GA-CY! LE-GA-CY!” while Drake suffers. Sean then STOMPS the fingers! Drake clutches that hand, but Sean KICKS him in the back! Legacy drags Sean up to snap suplex! Cover, TWO! Drake is tougher than that but Sean knows that. Sean whips Drake to the corner, then runs up to CHOP again! Drake coughs and sputters, but Sean whips him to the other corner. Sean runs in and CHOPS again! Sean snapmares Drake, KICKS him again, then whips again. Drake reverses this time, but Sean redirects!

Sean DROPKICKS the leg out, then runs to DOUBLE STOMP Drake on the back! Sean then DROPKICKS Drake back down, and he clamps onto a leg! S T F! The fans fire up for the John Cena shoutout, but Drake claws his way to the ROPEBREAK! Sean lets go and Drake bails out. The fans boo as Drake catches his breath, and Evolve goes to break.

Evolve returns and Sean arm-drags Drake down. Sean wrenches and WRINGS Drake, then KICKS him again! And PENALTY KICKS! And STANDING MOONSAULTS! Cover, TWO! Drake is still in this but the fans rally for Legacy. Sean stomps Drake around, drags him up, and fires Kawada Kicks! Sean KICKS Drake down, covers, TWO! Team ID talks it out in the VIP Lounge, they’ve still got confidence in Sean. Sean scoops and SLAMS Drake, then sits him up to KICK again! Drake writhes as Sean keeps working on that spine. Another KICK! Drake kicks from below, Sean eggs the champ on, then stomps him back down!

Sean clamps onto Drake’s arm, then gets the legs! BOW ‘N’ ARROW STRETCH! Drake endures, but Sean shifts the angle of the stretch! The fans chant “TAP!” but Swipe Right says don’t! Sean lets Drake go in frustration, and he whisp Drake, only for Drake to block the hip toss! Drake wrenches and ELBOW BREAKER! The bad arm is still taped up, and Drake KNEES Sean outta the ring! The fans boo but Drake takes aim. Sean avoids the Plancha! PENALTY KICK from the apron, then Sean hits a PLANCHA of his own! Sean gest back in the ring, he builds speed, but Drake avoids the baseball slide! Drake POSTS Sean’s bad arm!

Drake hammerlocks the arm and RAMS Sean into steel steps! Swipe Right is there to talk all kinds of trash, but the ref has them stay back. The ring count climbs, but Drake stands on Sean’s bad arm! The ref reprimands, the fans boo, but Drake steps off to put Sean in the ring. Drake soaks up heat, then he grabs the bad arm. Drake stands on Sean’s hand to KNEE DROP the elbow! Cover, TWO! The fans boo but Drake drags Sean up. Drake peels the tape away, then wrenches the bad arm to dig his knee in! Sean endures but Drake pulls on the arm! The fans rally as Sean endures, but Drake hooks the arm for a cradle, TWO!

Sean stands, but Drake wrenches and WRINGS the bad arm! Drake pushes Sean to a cover, ONE!! Sean toughs it out and the fans rally up, but Drake brings Sean around. Drake wrenches, but Sean rolls through! Sean ROCKS Drake, but Drake grabs ropes to stop the German Suplex! Sean’s bad arm holds him back, but he still dodges a lariat and sunset flips! Drake stays up, breaks free, and MOONSAULT KNEE-DROP! Cover, TWO!! Sean survives and shocks Drake! The fans rally up again as Sean rises, but Drake waits on him! Fireman’s carry and- NO, Sean fights free with elbows! But Drake ELBOWS Sean, then PELES!

Drake runs, handsprings, but into a GERMAN SUPLEX!! The fans fire up again while both Sean and Drake are down, and Evolve goes to break.

Evolve returns as Drake and Sean throw haymakers back and forth! The fans cheer Sean, they boo Drake, and it’s Sean who gets the edge! Sean bobs ‘n’ weaves, ROCKS Drake again and again, then blocks a kick! Sean reels Drake right in, GOURD BUSTER! STOMP to the hand! RIPCORD ROLLING DEATH VALLEY! Drake bails out, but Sean FLIES! Down goes Drake and the fans fire up! Sean puts Drake back in while Swipe Right panics! Springboard, 450 SPLASH!! Cover, TWO!! Drake survives but the fans still rally for Sean. Team ID is a bit worried but they also cheer Sean on. Drake goes to a corner while Sean stands up at center.

Sean runs up, Drake SUPERKICKS him! Drake goes up, leaps, but the crossbody FLOPS as Sean moves! Sean then QUEBRADAS to the SAVING GRACE! Cover, TWO! Drake survives another one and Sean grows a bit frustrated. “This is Awesome!” as Sean and Drake slowly rise up. Sean then storms up to Drake, and he torture racks! Drake grabs the ropes, Sean dumps him to the apron, but Drake then HOTSHOTS the bad arm! Drake springboards now, FLYING SWANTON! Then the UN- SPANISH FLY!! Cover, TWO!! Sean hurries to get the leg! S T F!! Drake endures, the bad arm costs Sean! Drake slips through, CROSSFACE!!

The fans rally for Sean as he fights around! Sean reaches out with a leg, kicks his way over, but Drake shifts into a TRIANGLE HOLD! Drake rains down elbows, but he has to watch his own shoulders! But Sean deadlifts Drake to POWERBOMB! Both men are down and the fans fire up again! Swipe Right is worried, Team ID has hope, and both men rise again. Sean goes to ropes, but he runs up, into a ROUNDHOUSE! Drake runs and KNEES the bad arm! Sean tumbles, Drake runs, UNALIVING!! But Sean is still moving?! Drake goes again, BLINDSIDE UNALIVING!! Cover, DRAKE WINS!

Winner: Jackson Drake, by pinfall (still WWE Evolve Champion)

The fans hate it, but Drake won, and clean! Will Legacy ever have that Evolve Championship? Will anyone ever dethrone Vanity Project from the top spot? But wait, Kam Hendrix and Team WWE PC walk out here. Kam has the mic to tell Drake that that was one hell of a match. Dare he say, an instant classic! But hopefully Drake enjoyed his last title defense. Kam is #1 contender, and the PC boys are about to run the show, so- Wait! Harlem Lewis is back? Even Drake is shocked! Harlem steps onto stage, the PC guys want a high-five, but he just pushes past them to go right to the ring.

Team PC doesn’t get what’s up, but Lewis has a mic of his own. Drake and Swipe Right are wary, but Lewis says, “I don’t care about Team PC. I don’t care about Team ID. All I care about is that championship right there. And if anybody in this room’s got a problem with that, you step to me right now!” Swipe Right take off their shirts to defend their boy, but no one’s making a move. The fans boo as Vanity Project slowly backs away, and actions speak louder than words. Will Kam’s golden ticket not matter with this Long Island Jackhammer back in action?

Charlie Dempsey confronts Timothy Thatcher in the parking lot!

The Professor of Pain tells the Son of Gentlemanly Villain to just go home. They have nothing more to discuss, unless he’s looking for guidance. Thatcher made his decision, Dempsey must respect it. Oh, he made his decision, has he? How is THIS the Thatcher that Dempsey used to look up to? All the stories of The Grappler’s Grappler, why won’t he just give Dempsey the chance to prove himself? Thatcher says Dempsey can prove himself every time he gets in the ring. Just focus on that. Thatcher doesn’t understand! How can Dempsey say he’s the best pure wrestler when he’s never beaten Thatcher? How is this the man Dempsey used to be inspired by?

Dempsey used to be just like Thatcher, and now, he couldn’t think of anything worse. Just look at him! Thatcher is just a sad, pathetic, emasculated stooge! Have a good night, “Coach.” Dempsey gets Thatcher’s door for him, but then Thatcher slams it shut! “You insolent, spoiled little brat! You keep wanting to make this about me! It’s not about me! What it’s gonna be about is you in the middle of the ring, screaming while I rip you apart! You’ve got your match. Good night, sir!” Dempsey smirks and heads out while Thatcher seethes. Dempsey has what he wants, but will he regret it?

My Thoughts:

A very good episode for Evolve to return after the holidays, but the main event result was personally not to my liking. Why have Sean Legacy get one more rematch if he’s not going to win? And Drake is holding onto the title so that a WWE PC guy can take it off him? I’ve already voiced this with how Adrenaline Drip lost to Riggins & Presley, but putting the PC guys over the ID guys this much is also very annoying to me. But hey, at least Kam Hendrix is good on the mic, and Harlem Lewis is back to be our new anti-hero Face as we have both a Heel champion and his faction as well as a Heel challenger and his faction.

On the flipside, a little surprised Karmen is getting to be the gatekeeper to the Evolve Women’s Division, especially without promos to frame that story. But very good match with her and Laynie Luck, maybe Laynie can get some more time on Evolve while she’s WWE ID Women’s Champion. Very good promo from Trill London, too, maybe he can get going in Evolve. The timing would fit, as there are people likely moving up from Evolve to NXT to make up for the NXT superstars being called up to main roster.

Good promo from Masyn, Layla, Lyons & Grace, and there’s the tag match I felt was coming. Lyons beat both Layla and Masyn in singles matches, so I feel like Masyn & Layla can pin Arianna to get their win back. Makes me wonder where them Men’s & Women’s Evolve Tag Team Championships are, because a year in and WWE should already know if they can keep a solid, consistent roster for both divisions. And great No Disqualification match from Wendy VS Chantel. Making the table go the long way out from the corner was unique but it was clearly for a spot like the Meteora or Full Nelson Bomb as a finish.

Great win for Wendy, she names herself #1 contender, and that Triple Threat of Kendal, Kali & PJ could go any which way. Kali’s had cameos on NXT while Kendal’s been very involved, so both of them are already “above” the Evolve Women’s Championship, maybe PJ uses an opportunistic finish to take that title. It would mostly be because if Wendy is a Face, I don’t see WWE doing a Face VS Face “this is about respect” feud, it’d be Wendy and her new self taking on a new monster Heel.

My Score: 8.4/10
