Cathy Kelley is the first Arabian superheavyweight signed to WWE, who has been already hard at work at the Performance Center. She knows the whole nation is behind him, what is that like? It is a great moment for him, his people, and his country. He is part of them, they are part of him. She brings up the training, how is that going? He has been there for three and a half months, it was great. Those are the best coaches in wrestling today. Cathy says this isn’t just the Royal Rumble, but there we even be a WrestleMania in Saudi Arabia next year! Is there anything he wants to say to his people?

Fahd speaks to his people in Arabic to share how great he feels to have this moment and to be part of the WWE. Cathy is sure there are big things to come, and thanks him for his time. Will Fahd Tuwaiq not just carry his country on his shoulders, but the future of the WWE?

Exclusive sit-down interview with Sami Zayn.

Wade Barrett tells the Underdog from the Underground that he has had “such a meaningful journey when it comes to Saudi Arabia. How does it feel when you get to feel that energy and meet the fans over there?” Sami says it’s hard to put into words. Getting to meet fans just takes the idea of this abstract thing, “the fans,” the roar of the crowd. But when you meet them face to face and they say what you have meant to them, that puts things into perspective. Especially in Saudi Arabia, it is a new market. It’s finally at their doorstep, they finally get to meet the superstars, that does something to Sami. It gives him reassurance.

That’s surely something that means a lot to the fans, but what about what means a lot to Sami Zayn? Sami is on a quest to finally win a world championship. And that has led him to Drew McIntyre, a man he has never beaten before. Sami is 0-11 against Drew in singles matches. Is the atmosphere at the Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia going to be the difference maker? Sami isn’t big into destiny or cliches like that, but the timing of this is exceptional. The time with The Bloodline helped Sami step into his own. The main event of WrestleMania, an d now this world title. For the last three years, it has been a journey to do the one thing he hasn’t done.

And then there’s the other story of him and Drew, the white whale, the Kryptonite, the one problem he can’t solve. But circumstances are different. Sami’s never walked into Saudi Arabia ahead of facing Drew. He’s never come off a win in Montreal, he’s never had this momentum. This time feels different, and that’s the part Sami focuses on. Sami has to put on the blinders and not think about the other 11 times. Wade says if it feels real to Sami, then let’s imagine Sami gets over the line and becomes WWE Champion in Saudi Arabia. How would that compare to all the many other championships he’s had throughout his career?

Sami says he’s been watching the WWE since he was a kid. As a kid, you don’t feel all that different, but you’re being told you are different. And now to just be here, be himself, and that being good enough to change perceptions, that alone was a dream of his. And it was a dream of his mom’s. Sami gets a bit emotional thinking about her, and Sami says that is big, to do something like this. Become a world champion against a man he’s yet to beat, do the one thing he’s never been able to do, and all at the Royal Rumble in the Saudi Arabia. This might be the most significant thing he could ever do. And he said it before, but this time just feels different. Pressure’s on.

Sami is able to laugh it off now, but how will he feel once that bell rings?

Byron Saxton is with the WWE Champion and brings up Sami talking about their history. In 11 different 1v1 meetings, Sami’s never won. And yet, Sami is undefeated when here in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Does Sami have the edge going into the match tonight? Drew simply says, “No.” But at the same time, Drew admits this is not the same Sami who lost 11 times. The most dangerous thing about this Sami IS his self-belief, his heart. But before going any further, Drew wants to bring up the tattooed sociopath, CM Punk, going on and on tonight on the panel. Who even gave that guy a live mic?

But Drew tells CM Punk, “Look at me now. I prayed for this, and it happened. Here’s some advice. You talk about being a fighting champion on Raw, you’re just disrespecting the title. I’m not a fighting champion, you have to earn the right to fight for the number one title in all of wrestling. And Sami Zayn has earned the right to fight me, he won the four way. This is very simple: It could come down to one kick. And it sure as hell won’t be his.” Drew has said his piece, but will it be a Claymore that finishes things off? Or will it be one helluva time in Riyadh?

The moment has arrived, and in the end, only one woman can claim their spot at WrestleMania! There are friends, enemies, teams and rivals everywhere you look, but who defies the odds when it is every woman for herself?

First out is… Charlotte Flair! The Queen has won twice, so she is very confident she can win it a historic third time! Will her story make history? But joining her in running the gauntlet is… ALEXA BLISS!? Oh no, the #Charlexa friendship is already going to be tested! The fans cheer “LEXI! LEXI!” and Charlotte is a little annoyed by that. The bell rings and the besties stare down. Charlotte looks to the sign, and Alexa says they can just wait for number three. Alexa waves to the stage, but Charlotte would rather look to the sign. The fans chant, “FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!” Alexa offers heart hands, but Charlotte picks her up!

The fans cheer as Charlotte puts Alexa up top, and then says just kidding. Heart hands, and then Charlotte helps Alexa hop down. Charlotte vows they’ll go to WrestleMania together. But then Alexa clinches Charlotte! Alexa says just kidding. But then Charlotte trips Alexa! Then stands her up to hug her. The fans cheer, and Alexa hops onto Charlotte. The friends wait for the countdown, and number three is… Miss Management, Kiana James! Kiana runs down the ramp, even though she’s in a 2v1 situation! Kiana dodges, CLOBBERS Alexa, then CLOBBERS Charlotte! She RAMS Alexa, handsprings, and RAMS Charlotte!

Kiana runs up but Alexa BOOTS her! Kiana dodges Charlotte to CODE BREAKER! Alexa kicks low, whips Kiana to ropes, but Kiana goes under the ropes. Kiana RAMS Alexa, then slingshots to SPLASH! The Phenomenal One stood up to Der Ring General for all the trash he was talking on John Cena, but then got only half a victory. Gunther did tap, but he did it in a way that the ref couldn’t see it and that it would trick Styles. And now, to get the rematch, Styles had to put up his wrestling career as the ante! Will Gunther end another legacy as he builds his own? Or will Styles make sure this is not his last match?

The bell rings and the fans are all on Styles’ side. Styles and Gunther circle, tie up, and Styles goes for an arm. Gunther facelocks, but Styles wrenches free to a wristlock. Gunther fights up, chinbars, but Styles pulls on the arm. Styles headlocks as the fans sing for him, but Gunther lifts! But Styles hits a flying takeover and grinds Gunther down. Gunther fights up, powers out, but Styles ducks ‘n’ dodges to KICK the leg! Styles headlocks again, but Gunther powers up and out again. Styles ducks ‘n’ dodges again, but Gunther avoids the strike to the leg. Gunther and Styles circle while the fans continue to rally.

Gunther is annoyed by all this cheering so he steps out to the apron. The fans continue to cheer Styles on, so Gunther steps back in. Gunther and Styles reset, tie up, but Styles gets a leg. Gunther hobbles to the ropes, the ref calls the break, and they’re in the corner as Gunther backs off. Styles dodges the chop to CHOP, CHOP, and CHOP! Gunther headlocks and he grinds Styles down. The fans boo Gunther but Styles fights up. Styles power up but Gunther holds on tight. Styles fights up, fires body shots, then powers up and out. Styles falls, Gunther refreshes the ring count, and Gunther fetches Styles again. The fans rally behind Styles, but Gunther CHOPS him back down! Gunther whips Styles hard into barriers, and Styles sputters as he drops to his knees. Gunther refreshes the ring count again while the fans tell him off.

Gunther puts Styles in the ring, then stalks him to the corner. Gunther CHOPS Styles, then stomps him down! The fans boo and taunt Gunther more but he goes back to Styles. Styles fires body shots and forearms, but Gunther whips Styles hard into buckles! Styles falls, and the ref checks that bloody scrape on his arm. Styles is alright to continue, and Gunther soaks up heat from the fans. Gunther whips Styles, then BACKDROPS him! A very high, very hard landing, and Styles is writhing. Gunther stomps Styles, then grabs the legs to turn him over! BOSTON CRAB! The fans rally for Styles while he endures, and Styles fights up!

Styles tucks, rolls, and he kicks at Gunther! Gunther staggers away, but he comes back to PENALTY KICK! The fans boo again but Gunther paces around Styles. Styles reaches out, Gunther drags him up, and Gunther wrenches to CHOP Styles down. Styles sputters while Gunther holds onto the wristlock. The fans boo again as Gunther stands Styles up, and- NO, Styles ducks the chop! Styles fires forearms, then whips, only for Gunther to reverse! Gunther and Styles stir, sit up, and then slowly stand up. Styles blocks a shot to fire off the Phenomenal Blitz! LARIAT! Gunther rebounds, but Styles dodges to mule kick! SLIDING FOREARM! Gunther staggers to a corner while the fans cheer Styles. Styles runs in, LARIAT! Then fireman’s carry, USHIGOROSHI! Cover, TWO! Gunther survives but Styles stays focused. Gunther hobbles, Styles goes for that leg! Roll and CALF CRUSHER!! The fans are thunderous as Gunther freaks out, flails around, but then Styles rolls him back to center! Styles has to let go of Gunther’s leg to fight back to his feet. Styles reaches out, but Gunther drags him down! But Styles rolls it back to a cover, TWO! Styles has a SLEEPER! Gunther powers up and out, then gets the SLEEPER! Styles moves around, and around, and around, and he SLINGS Gunther out! Gunther sputters, stands up, and Styles takes aim! Slingshot for the FALLING FOREARM! Both men are down on the floor and the fans fire up again! The ring count climbs, Styles gets Gunther in the ring at 6 of 10. Styles goes up, up, but Gunther CHOPS him! Gunther climbs up after Styles now, but Styles resists the superplex!

The fans rally as Styles slips under, and he lifts Gunther off the corner! Gunther slips free, he lifts Styles! But Styles slips free! Kick and lift, POWERBOMB! High stack, TWO! Gunther survives Styles using his own move, but the fans know “This is Awesome!” Styles hobbles his way to the apron, takes aim, and springboards for the 450 SPLASH! Styles then reels Gunther in, hooks him up, STYLES CLASH!! Cover, TWO?!?! Gunther survives and no one can believe it! Styles goes back to the apron, takes aim again, and springboards, PHENOMENAL- NO, Gunther catches Styles! Styles slips free, SLEEPER!!

Gunther grabs at the ref, then LOW BLOWS Styles!! GENERAL BOMB!! Cover, TWO!!! Styles survives Gunther cheating him and the fans are loving it! The ref counts, Gunther doesn’t stop, so the ref gets in there! The ref warns Gunther here, and the fans boo while Styles sputters. Styles sits back up, Gunther eggs him on again, and the fans cheer Styles on. Gunther CHOPS, CHOPS, and CHOPS! Styles flops against Gunther, but Gunther stands him up to LARIAT! And LARIAT again! The ref backs Gunther off again and the fans boo. Styles reaches out in a daze, but he insists he can still get up. Styles leans against the ropes, drags himself up, and the fans cheer him on again! Gunther storms back over, to CHOP! CHOP! But STyles ROCKS Gunther! STyles fires off and the fans fire up!

Styles has Gunther in a corner with a flurry of forearms! The fans cheer, Styles BOOTS Gunther, and he BOOTS again! The ref now warns Styles not to get himself disqualified here! Styles backs off, and he runs back in, but Gunther puts him on the outside. Styles ROCKS Gunther, goes up, but Gunther fireman’s carries! But Styles pops up! Gunther throws Styles away, to then SLEEPER! The fans rally for Styles as he endures, but Styles is already red! Maybe even purple! Gunther leans on Styles, brings him into the body scissors, but Styles reaches out! Styles fires elbows into Gunther’s hip! Styles is up, but Gunther HAMMERS away on Styles!

Gunther clamps back on with the SLEEPER! Another body scissors! It’s like Cena in DC! The fans rally even harder, Styles fires more elbows into the knees and hips! Gunther holds on, but Styles rises up!? Styles reaches out, but he’s fading again! Gunther squeezes tight, even keeps an arm trapped, but Styles gives one last gasp! Gunther lets go so he can HAMMER away again! SLEEPER!! The fans boo as Styles is still stuck! Styles is still reaching, but he’s fading! The ref checks, Styles is OUT!! GUNTHER WINS!!

Winner: Gunther, by submission (AJ Styles retires)

Gunther is the only one cheering this result, as the rest of the world is shocked! Even Styles is surprised as he regains consciousness. Styles’ spirit never gave up, but his body could not keep going. Just as we said goodbye to John Cena in December, we must say goodbye to Styles in January. The fans still cheer this great finale to a truly phenomenal career, #ThankYouStyles. Styles takes off his gloves, but the fans chant, “NO! NO! NO!” Styles puts his gloves back on! But as for Gunther, he still has a spot in the Royal Rumble. Is Der Ring General go from #CareerKiller to WrestleMania main eventer in one fell swoop?

Undisputed WWE Championship: Drew McIntyre VS Sami Zayn!

The Scottish Terminator finally get this title off Cody Rhodes, though he ignored the controversy of Jacob Fatu being why that happened at all. But that story doesn’t even compare to the ongoing saga that is Sami Zayn wanting to be world champion. Sami has his chance, he has Riyadh behind him, but he has never beaten Drew in a 1v1 match. Something’s gotta give, will this finally be Sami’s moment? Or will it just be loss number 12 in the one-sided rivalry?

The introductions are made, the belt is raised, and we see who is truly championship material!

2026 Men’s Royal Rumble!

With Drew McIntyre still Undisputed WWE Champion, and CM Punk still WWE World Heavyweight Champion, those are the two targets to aim for at WrestleMania 42. And we know from the Countdown show that Paul Heyman is pissed that Bron Breakker ended up the second entry in this match. Heyman claims conspiracy, but will it not matter when the entire Vision is supporting the Unpredictable Badass? Or will someone else take the spotlight away from The Oracle’s chosen one?

But with Bron as the second, who is the first entrant? It’s OBA FEMI! The Ruler of NXT has left that world behind to conquer all of the WWE! Will that begin here with the Royal Rumble? Bron then makes his entrance, Heyman accompanying him. But wait! Who attacks Bron!? They’re in a hood and mask as they throw Bron into the steps! Then the SUPERKICK! Then a CURB STOMP?!? Then this hooded man puts Bron in the ring, the bell sounds, and Oba is waiting! Bron staggers up, Oba LARIATS Bron up and out and ELIMINATES him!! The fans cheer and chant, “Whoop Dat Trick!” Trick gets in the ring, dodges Priest and LARIATS him! Trick then TOSSES and ELIMINATES Iguana! And Yesca, too, for good measure. Then a FLAPJACK on Priest! And then the Stand & Deliver 2025 main event stands together again. Trick kicks, Oba blocks, but Evans ROUNDHOUSES! Trick BOOTS Oba, then he and Evans SUPERKICK BOOT COMBO! Trick runs up, Cody dodges, and Cody has Trick for the CROSS RHODES! Cody TOSSES Trick out and ELIMINATES him! The fans are torn but then Priest guzels Cody! SOUTH OF HEAVEN! But now entry 14 is here, and it’s… POWERHOUSE HOBBS!! Or rather, Royce Keys! One way or another, the Powerhouse heads to the ring, ready to prove he is a MonStar! Entry 15 and it’s… AUSTIN THEORY! With no more Bron Breakker, The Pressure has no game plan now but to win! Theory hurries in, he BOOTS Evans down, but Cody waistlocks Theory. Dragon hurries to duck ‘n’ dodges and tilt-o-whirl Theory, DESTINO! Ilja CHOPS Dragon, Dragon KNEES Ilja, Ilja BOOTS back! Dragon returns on Ilja, DESTINO! But Cody spins Dragon! Logan throws off the headband and soaks up heat, but he turns around to see Keys. Logan asks, “Who the hell are you?” Logan fires hands, but Keys blocks those shots to HEADBUTT! Keys scoops and WORLD’S STRONGEST SLAM! Keys then turns around to see Bronson. So the straps come down! The fans fire up but Theory SUCKER PUNCHES Keys! Logan UPPERCUTS Keys! Reed LARIATS Keys up and out to ELIMINATE him! But then Parka & Dragon SUPERKKICK Logan & Theory! They DOUBLE SUPERKICK Bronsno, but he blocks the whips! Bronson DOUBLE LARIATS the luchadores!

Oba is also loose, and now we go back to the kaiju movie! Entry 24 is here, though, and it’s… REY FENIX! The Immortal Firebird rushes the ring, goes to a corner, and he springboards in! Lesnar catches Fenix, THROWS him aside, then he gets around Oba! GERMAN SUPLEX! Lesnar roars, still the alpha male of our species! Then he gives Fenix an F5 just because! Lesnar TOSSES Fenix and ELIMINATES him! Heyman talks a lot of trash, and Lesnar dodges Oba! Lesnar eggs Oba on, he and Oba circle. Lesnar runs up, Oba dodges, and Oba LARIATS him down! Cody DIVES but into a forearm! Fatu then THROWS Cody into steps, then into the POST! Fatu HEADBUTTS Cody around, Logan fires off on Roman, but Jey is back! The Bloodline hit Cody with the ONE D! Roman stomps Logan, and entry 28 is here! It’s… PENTA! The Man with No Fear was last year’s Ironman, will he be this year’s winner? Penta slides in and dodges Evans to RANA! Logan kicks Penta, whips him, but Penta reverses. Penta GAMANGIRIS, then he headstands and DROPKICKS! Penta fires up, but he turns around to see Fatu. Penta SUPERKICKS! Fatu just fires up!

Penta dodges Fatu, Fatu handsprings, but into a BACKSTABBER! Knight scoops Penta to POWERSLAM! Then Knight dodges Roman’s Superman Punch to B F T! Cody has Knight, but Knight spins that around! REVERSE DDT! Knight runs up, Cody dumps him out! Cody DISASTER KICKS and Knight falls! Cody ELIMINATES Knight! But then Fatu goes after Cody! Entry 29 is here, and it’s… RANDY ORTON! The fans fire up and sing along with Voices as The Viper goes to the ring. Orton dodges Jey to SNAP POWERSLAM! Then he SNAP POWERSLAMS Penta! Orton nods as he hears the fans finish singing Voices.

Orton drags Penta up through the ropes, then has Jey, too! DOUBLE DRAPING DDTS! The fans fire up as Orton hears those voices now! But Logan storms up! So RKO for Logan! But Penta KICKS Orton, KICKS and KICKS, and KICKS! Penta says, “CERO! MIEDO!” Penta runs, springboards, but into an RKO! Orton grins, but it’s the FINAL COUNTDOWN~! And entry 30 is… GUNTHER! Der Ring General already ended AJ Styles’ career, will he crush everyone else’s WrestleMania dreams? Gunther storms his way to the ring, a slight hobble in his walk. Drew tells Fatu that their mutual problem is handled! And then Roman TOSSES Fatu to ELIMINATE him! But then Jey DUMPS Roman! Roman clings to the ropes, ELBOWS Jey away, but Jey dodges! Jey SPEARS Roman!! Jey drags Roman up, brings him around, but Roman TOSSES Jey and ELIMINATES him!! And now our final four is set: Roman, Logan, Orton, and Gunther! They each take a corner, and Logan feels good about his odds. Logan fires himself up, the other three get up, and the brawl is on! Logan with Roman, Orton with Gunther, a lot of history between them all! Roman ROCKS Logan, puts him on the apron, but Logan ROCKS Roman!

Tribal Chief or Ring General, who is taking the Rumble?! The fans boo Gunther, they can’t stand that he could ruin things for Roman like he did Styles! Gunther waits on Roman, then clamps on the SLEEPER!! Roman fires body shots, Gunther kicks low, and Gunther lifts Roman! Roman fights the bomb to DUMP Gunther! Gunther holds onto the ropes, but the SUPER- NO, Gunther ROCKS Roman first!

Gunther hurries back in, SLEEPER! Roman fights around, reaches out, but ropebreaks don’t matter here! Roman still clings to the ropes while the fans cheer him on! Roman fires body shots, then SHOVES Gunther away! SUPERMAN- NO, Gunther slips around again! SLEEPER!! Gunther squeezes tight and Roman is fading! Roman rises with a second wind but he’s still stuck! The fans rally as hard as they can as Roman goes to a corner and he RAMS Gunther into buckles! “OOOAH~!” SPEAR!! Roman TOSSES Gunther up and out, ROMAN WINS!

Winner: Roman Reigns, as Entry 26 (2026 Men’s Royal Rumble winner)

Gunther got his “trophy” in taking Styles’ career, but he does NOT earn his way back to the world championship! Roman Reigns has his second-ever Royal Rumble victory, and he IS headed back to a world championship! But while he points to the WrestleMania sign and raises his one to the sky, which champion will have to ACKNOWLEDGE HIM?

My Thoughts:

A great Royal Rumble in Riyadh, though I will say that expectations are always high for the Rumble matches themselves. And all told, the Women’s Rumble outdid the Men’s Rumble, perhaps even two years in a row. For one, great to see Brie Bella back, I did not think we’d see Bella Twins back together in WWE. Very clever start with Alexa and Charlotte both out there, and great showing for Lash Legend, too. Nia being partly involved in how Alexa was eliminated and Lash getting rid of Charlotte is a great continuation of their feud, but obviously Nia & Lash want the tag titles, too, so who knows how things go from here.

Very good stuff in Iyo using Kairi to eliminate Asuka, we need to get back to the Kabuki Warriors falling apart. Great showing from the NXT stars, too, and it helps explain Sol and Jacy being absent from Tuesday’s episode. But the moment Liv betrayed Raquel, I could feel Liv winning. Raquel gets her title shot on Monday, so the Judgment Day dysfunction can escalate because it’d pit Raquel against Liv if Raquel were to win. Meanwhile, Jade is going to finish the feud with Jordynne, then Tiffany Stratton is back, there could be a great Women’s Elimination Chamber match using SmackDown and even Raw superstars to then send someone after Jade at WrestleMania.

Styles VS Gunther was awesome stuff, and for a moment there, I thought Gunther was going to “go too far” and get himself disqualified, sparing Styles for a little longer so we could have the tiebreaker later on. But instead, Styles in kayfabe could not survive, because Styles IRL accepted this as the end. Everyone keeps on speculating that Styles is only done in WWE and that he might do a little more in TNA, or even do a few months in AEW. First off, I doubt the latter is even on the table, and AEW is already so busy doing everything else with the stars they have, they don’t need to wedge Styles into things. TNA is plausible, and makes sense since that’s where he got his start. Plus, Styles kept his gloves instead of giving them up, the symbolism for him not truly “hanging it up.”

Drew VS Sami was a great match, and after Sami’s great interview promo with Wade, I thought Sami was gonna pull off the upset. Instead, Sami “hurt” his back, and that was enough of a reason to cover for him losing here. But just the idea of Sami being 0-12 against anyone is wild, hard to fathom, and yet they let us know that’s exactly the case. Not sure what in kayfabe it’ll take for Sami to become world champion in WWE, other than maybe Money in the Bank. To be fair, they could make a great story out of that, with Sami having to earn his way into the ladder match and then have just an epic part in said ladder match as he wins.

And then the Men’s Rumble made a natural main event, but it wasn’t quite as full of shocks and surprises as we probably expected. The Rumble entry graphics flub from SmackDown is perhaps partly to blame for certain things happening, such as Bron being second now, not first, and also them using this apparent new Seth Rollins imitator to help eliminate Bron. And for all we know, it (in kayfabe, at least) could actually be Rollins. Story wise, that certainly threw me for a loop, but Oba got an awesome showing just clearing out people. Sucks for Rusev that he was one of them but oh well. I should’ve figured Drew would screw Cody over, they’re perhaps showing their hand on setting up another Drew VS Cody story.

Lesnar got eliminated rather unceremoniously since the fans were all paying attention to Jey YEET it up in his entrance. Almost makes you wonder what the point of him coming back was other than just to have some fun. He also no sold Ilja a little too hard. The different El Grande Americanos finally meeting was great, though, that feud will be fun. And I don’t think anyone predicted/wanted Logan in their final four. But Gunther getting in at 30 made sense, and then things coming down to him and Roman was really good stuff. Roman winning out makes sense, they wouldn’t have bothered entering him if he wasn’t gonna get the win. Now, if they’re doing Cody VS Drew so blatantly, I guess we’re getting Roman VS Punk?
