The Fallen Goddess, the Minion Overlord, the American Joshi, the ROH Gatekeeper and THE longest reigning champion in ROH history period, is only giving her former student this shot because Athena felt betrayed by Maya! Will Athena crush Maya under her iron fist? Or will she soon owe #ThatGirl a title match?

The Code of Honor is upheld, the bell rings, and Athena DECKS Maya! The fans boo as Athena CHOKES Maya in the corner, and shouts at her, “You thought this was a game? You thought this was a game?! I made you! I made you, May! I MADE YOU!” The ref counts, Athena backs off just to shout at him now, and Maya sputters away. The fans rally as Athena pushes Maya around. Maya pushes back but Athena CLUBS her! Athena whips Maya, Maya grabs the ropes, then Maya SOBATS! And RANAS! The fans fire up as Athena tumbles to a corner! Maya runs up to BACK BODY BLOCK! Maya whips and DROPKICKS Athena down!

The fans fire up while Maya kips up, and she stalks Athena to the apron. Maya waistlocks but Athena fires elbows. Athena grabs at Maya’s hair but Maya POSTS Athena! Athena goes to the floor, but she gets back up. Maya cartwheels over the sweep! Then she BOOTS Athena down! The fans fire up for Maya and she signals she’s gonna get that belt. Maya puts Athena in the ring, covers, ONE! Athena is tougher than that but Maya drags Athena up. Maya whips, Athena reverses, but Maya goes up! Athena blocks a kick, then YANKS Maya down for a KICK! Athena runs corner to corner, METEORA! The fans cheer while Maya sputters.

Athena steps on Maya for a cocky cover, TWO! Athena drags Maya up, CLUBS her, then puts her on the ropes. Athena stands on Maya to choke her! The fans boo and the ref counts again, but Athena hops off to then HIP DROP! Athena stalks Maya to ropes, pie faces her and talks trash. Maya shoves back as the fans rally up. Maya runs the ropes, but Athena follows to LARIAT Maya up and out! The fans fire up as Athena builds speed and DIVES! Direct hit and Maya is sent into railing! Athena CLUBS Maya, then GOURD BUSTERS Maya to the floor! The fans cheer again while Athena storms up on Maya. Athena puts Maya in the ring while the fans cheer her on.

Athena takes her time stepping back inside, then she drags Maya up. Athena cravats for the neck wrench! The fans rally as Maya endures, and Maya fights to her feet. Maya fires body shots, but Athena snapmares and KICKS Maya down! Athena clamps on with a chinlock, and she smiles at the camera. Maya endures, fights up, and the fans rally again. Maya fires more body shots, then rolls Athena up, ONE! Both women stand, Athena runs up, but is sent into the corner! Athena hurries back after Maya, but Maya avoids the senton! Maya hurries to sunset flip! Athena rolls through, high stacks, TWO, but Athena deadlifts to SIT-OUT BOMB! Cover, TWO!! Maya survives and Athena cannot believe it! And now we hit the two minute warning! Athena goes to a corner, climbs up, but Maya avoids the leap! Maya runs up and ROCKS Athena! Athena goes to a corner, Maya storms up, and Maya clinches for the UPPERCUT! Athena kicks, Maya blocks, but Athena reels her in for a KNEE! The introductions are made, the belt is raised, and we see who cooks in Jacksonville!

The Code of Honor is upheld, the bell rings, and the fans rally up for Velvet. The two circle, tie up, and Hyan powers Velvet to a corner. Velvet goes up, jumps and arm-drags Hyan away, then signals she’s keeping the belt. Hyan nods as she shakes that off. Hyan and Velvet reset, tie up, and the fans rally again. Hyan wrenches to a wristlock, but Velvet rolls, kips up, and wrenches to wristlock. Hyan breaks free, and the two tie up again. Velvet headlocks, Hyan powers up and powers out, but Velvet goes for the roll-up. Hyan stays up to sit down, ONE! Velvet sunsets to a stack, ONE! Hyan BOOTS the lariat, then BOOTS Velvet down!

The fans are torn as Hyan gloats a bit, but then she covers, ONE! The fans rally, Hyan stalks Velvet to ropes and whips, only for Velvet to reverse. Velvet drops down then DROPKICKS! The fans cheer while Velvet tosses her hair. Velvet covers, TWO! Hyan crawls to ropes, Velvet runs up, but Hyan DUMPS her out! Hyan runs up but Velvet dodges the shoulder tackle to then AX KICK! Velvet cartwheels over Hyan to then BOOT her back in! The fans cheer while Velvet hurries to cover, TWO! Hyan is tougher than that but Velvet stays on her. The fans rally again as Hyan pushes Velvet. Hyan suplexes, and she powers Velvet up into the stall! But Velvet cradle counters, TWO! Both women stand, and Hyan blocks the arm-drag! But Velvet just slips around to roll Hyan up, TWO! Shawn Dean, Carlie Bravo, and Big Bad Shaney T have been working to take over ROH, but they still have to defend the gold they’ve got. But for now, the reunited Nightmare Factory is only getting on the Proving Ground. Will they prove themselves worthy of the opportunity? Or will STP take them out in ten minutes or less?

The Code of Honor is definitely skipped as STP rushes QT and team! The bell rings as The Infantry are after Solow and Comoroto while Shane goes after QT himself. Shane CHOKES QT in a corner, the ref counts, but Shane lets off so he can CLUB Comoroto! STP all mug the Freak Beast, then they double whip him to ropes. Comoroto stops himself, then TOSSES Shane! Dean runs up but Comoroto TOSSES him, too! Carlie runs up, but Comroto dodges, and Solow ELBOWS him! Comoroto sends QT in for a GAMANGIRI, then Comoroto adds a SPLASH! Comoroto suplexes Carlie, and Solow adds a DROPKICK to the SLAM! Cover, TWO!

Solow keeps on Bravo, brings him up, but Bravo KNEES low! Bravo calls to Captain Dean and tags him in. The Infantry double whips Solow but he KICKS Dean and ROCKS Bravo! Then he runs, ducks ‘n’ dodges, but Anthony Ogogo is there to trip Solow up! The ref reprimands but Dean slides out to drag Solow down and spin him around! HOTSHOT on the apron, and Bravo adds an AX HANDLE! Shane hits a GUILLOTINE LEG DROP! QT & Comoroto protest but STP stands tall together. The fans are torn but Dean puts Solow back in. Dean taunts Solow as he reaches out for QT, then Dean stomps him down!

Dean drags Solow up just to DECK him again. Dean stands Solow up again, and DECKS him again! The fans rally as Dean stalks Solow. Solow throws body shots but Dean CLUBS him down. Dean drags Solow up, tags Bravo, and then scoops for the SLAM! Bravo IMPLODER SPLASHES, then covers, TWO! Solow toughs it out and his team cheers him on, but Bravo CHOKES Solow on the ropes! The ref counts, Bravo stops to argue with the ref, and Shane gets a cheap shot in! Bravo stomps Solow, stomps the leg, then stomps the other leg. Bravo stomps Solow’s arm, then FIST DROPS! Cover, TWO! Solow stays in this but Bravo stays on him.

Bravo drags Solow up to bump him off buckles, then JABS, and CHOPS! JAB! CHOP! Tag to Shane and he winds up to BODY BLOW! Shane BODY BLOWS again, talks trash, then CHOPS! Solow falls down and Dean checks, “Is this camera on me? Now that’s a man right there!” Dean tags in, he cheap shots Comoroto, then he makes sure the other camera is on him! B B C, the Bronco Busting Captain! The ref counts, Shane says it’s gross every time, but Dean drags Solow to a cover, TWO! Dean clamps on with a chinlock and grinds Solow down. The fans rally as Solow endures, and he fights up to his feet to throw body shots!

Dean fires hands on Solow, whips him to the corner, then runs up to RAM! Solow staggers, Dean SLINGSHOT SPEARS! Then Dean DROPKICKS Comoroto down! QT swings on Dean but Dean gets away. Dean waits on Solow to stand, then RAMS him back into the STP corner! STP mugs Solow but the ref counts. Bravo tags in, Dean drags Solow up, and they coordinate for the BACKBREAKER AX HANDLE COMBO! Bravo runs up but QT avoids another cheap shot. Bravo goes cover Solow but QT breaks it! The fans are torn but Bravo tags Dean in. The Infantry gets Solow up, but Solow ENZIGIRIS Dean!

Solow ROCKS Bravo, then sends Dean into him! NECKBREAKER DDT COMBO! The fans fire up while all three men are down! Solow and Dean crawl, hot tag to QT! The fans rally as QT dodges Infantry, BLATSS Shane, then rallies on Infantry again! QT whips Bravo, Bravo reverses, but QT WRECKS Ogogo! Then QT dodges, handsprings, and ENZIGIRIS! The fans fire up as QT pops Dean up for a HAYMAKER! The fans fire up as QT calls his shot and watches Bravo. COOKIE- NO, Bravo denies QT the cutter, then sends him to Dean for the JUMP KNEE! But QT rolls Bravo up! TWO! Bravo SUPERKICKS QT! Dean SUPERKICKS QT! Infantry DOUBLE SUPERKICK! They mockingly say they’re bringing the BOOM! But then QT dodges them to springboard, DOUBLE COOKIE CUTTER! The fans fire up while everyone is down! Hot tags to Shane and Comoroto! The fans fire up for “MEAT! MEAT! MEAT!” Freak Beast circles with Big Bad Shaney T, and they RAM! And RAM! Shane fires up, eggs Comoroto on, but then Infantry and QTV get in there. They turn the big men around, but the big men dodge! But then QT & Solow fire hands on Shane while The Infantry fires off on Comoroto!

DOUBLE SUPERKICKS for Shane! DOUBLE SUPERKICKS for Comoroto! But Comoroto just DOUBLE LARIATS The Infantry! Shane DOUBLE LARIATS QTV! The big men stare down again, and they start throwing LARIATS! DOUBLE LARIATS! DOUBLE LARIATS! “MEAT! MEAT! MEAT!” Comoroto clinches an arm and fires LARIAT after LARIAT after LARIAT! But Shane JABS! Shane then scoops and SLAMS Comoroto! QT storms up to TOSS Bravo! QT then PLANCHAS, but Ogogo HAYMAKERS! The ref misses it because he was checking Shane! Infantry gets Solow, BACK SUPLEX NECKBREAKER COMBO! Comoroto blasts through double lariats to DOUBLE LARIAT back! Then he hauls Dean up, adds Bravo, but Shane HEADBUTTS! HAYMAKER!! And then TWO 2 DA HEAD!! Cover, STP wins!

The Spanish God and the Monstrous Minotaur at Law put out the challenge to any tag team from anywhere in the world to come here to Jacksonville and see if they can earn themselves a shot at the gold! Sammy grabs a mic to say, “Shhhhhh… Everybody’s Favorite Pillar is about to talk. Ladies and gentlemen, you re looking at greatness. Beast Mortos & Sammy Guevara have been on el fuego, baby! And that means ‘fire’ in Spanish.” Sammy says they are unstoppable! And in fact, he is the only wrestler in history to hold a title three times, back to back to back, with no losses! He’s the best! You’re all confused, how can he be so good? He’s the Spanish God, that’s why!

Or rather, they’re the best. But Tony Khan informed that they have to defend these titles, and that they are contractually obligated to see you dumbass fans. So, he will just go ahead and throw out the open challenge, because they need to wrestle so they can get the hell out of Jacksonville, Mortos has an important case! Orlando drags Mortos up, whips him to ropes, but Mortos sunset flips! Eddie makes the tag first, and then Orlando rolls through! DOUBLE KICK SANDWICH! Cover, TWO! The fans rally up and Mortos HEADBUTTS Eddie down! Mortos finally gets his blazer off, and the tie, but Sammy tags in! Eddie drop toeholds Sammy onto the ropes, then runs to SLIDE ATTACK while tagging Orlando! Orlando slingshots to SENTON! Orlando runs, but Mortos trips him up! Sammy JUMP KNEES Orlando down! The fans boo but Sammy BLASTS Eddie! Sammy rains down fists on Orlando, then he tags Mortos. Mortos drags Orlando up to SMACK him to the corner! And Blake Christian takes off the mask to say, “In case you idiots were wondering, I’m not really Bandido.” Lethal & Johnson pretend to be shocked while Blake laughs. But Vanilla Baby will tell us that this mask is like a trophy for them. If Bandido wants his mask back, the next trophy they’ll take is the ROH World Championship. Come and get it!

The Lethal Twist has called out the Most Wanted, but Bandido’s busy with Andrade El Idolo at Revolution. Will Bandido make sure to give Lethal Twist not so much what they want and more what they deserve?

The Closer put the Bounty Hunter away with a TKO, but his celebration was cut short by “Big Bill” Morrissey as he CLOBBERS Scorpio and Daniels! How does a man that big show up outta nowhere?! But then that isn’t the end! The Grizzled Young Veterans get in, and they tell Daniels, #GritYourTeeth! DOUBLE CODE BREAKER!! The fans boo, how could they do that to a retired legend?! But then Bill drags Scorpio up, guzels, and SKYSCRAPER CHOKE SLAMS!! The fans boo again but GYV is loving it! This is payback for Top Flight beating them before, and now Bill & Keith are paid in full for doing the dirty work.

ROH Pure Championship: Lee Moriarty VS Josh Woods!

It was back in September, Action DEAN 3, that #TAIGASTYLE and the Technical Beast went tooth ‘n’ nail for this title. Lee came out on top then, but he’s willing to prove he can do it again. Will Shane Taylor Promotions dominate the night? Or will Woods finally get the goods back?

The introductions are made, the belt is raised, and we see who is most Pure!

The Code of Honor is upheld, the bell rings, and we have 60 minutes on the clock. Lee and Woods circle while the fans rally up. They feel things out, Lee facelocks but Woods has a leg. Lee fights the lift with a headscissor, but Woods still dumps him over. Lee tries again but Woods pushes him down to go for an arm. Woods fights off the headscissors once but not the second time. Lee puts on the pressure and the fans applaud. Woods fights around, pops the headscissors open, then turns Lee over. Woods floats to a facelock but now Lee goes for a leg. Lee spins and facelocks to gator roll to the cover, ONE! Lee keeps on Woods with an armlock while the fans applaud.

Woods fights up, spins, and he trips Lee to then step over and headlock. Woods again denies a headscissors, and they both roll around. Woods catches an arm, covers, ONE! Woods shifts to then facelock, but Lee kips up! Lee slips around, snapmares, then headlocks. The fans applaud this technical exchange while Woods endures. Woods denies the straitjacket, then fights around to rise up. Woods wrenches, wrenches, then he spins Lee to wrench again. The fans applaud but Lee moves around. Lee spins through, slips through, spins Woods, and SNAPS fingers! Step over and LA CASITA, ONE! But Lee is right on with a facelock.

Lee facelocks, whips, but Woods reverses. Woods denies the up ‘n’ over to then GERMAN SUPLEX! The fans cheer as Woods storms up on Lee and GERMAN SUPLEXES again! And GERMAN SUPLEXES again! Lee sputters but Woods just GERMAN SUPLEXES again! Lee grabs the ROPEBREAK! Woods lets go and that is Lee’s first at just over three minutes. A rare sight to behold, but Lee scrambles to a corner. Woods storms up, blocks a boot, and puts that leg in the ropes to then BOOT the leg! Woods snapmares Lee, covers, TWO! But Woods keeps on with the ANKLE LOCK! Lee endures, sits up, and goes for Woods’ leg, only for Woods to facelock!

Lee endures again, but Woods pushes him to a modified cradle, TWO! Woods UPPERCUTS the leg! Woods drags Lee around, then SMASHES the knee on the mat again and again! The fans applaud, and Woods ties Lee’s legs up in the INVERTED CLOVERLEAF! Lee flails, reaches out, ROPEBREAK! That’s Lee’s second in under five and the fans fire up! Woods says he’s been watching Lee, this is NOT his night, it’s WOODS’! But Lee fires a body shot! Woods KICKS the leg! Woods whips Lee, Lee goes up, under, and baits Woods in. Lee steps over, spins Woods, and ARMBREAKER DDT! The fans rally while Woods clutches his shoulder.

Lee goes after the arm, bends fingers, and he tortures the wrist and elbow! Lee bends the arm to a DOUBLE WRISTLOCK, but Woods has the ROPEBREAK! Lee lets go as Woods uses his first. Woods clutches the arm but Lee clamps back on. Lee snapmares, then he bends the arm again. Lee JAMS the fingers into the mat! Then he turns Woods over and SNAPS the fingers! The fans cheer Lee being villainous there, and Lee wrenches the arm. ELBOW BREAKER, then hammerlock! Lee hooks a leg, rolls Woods, modified KOJI KLUTCH! Woods endures, fights around, and he uses the ROPEBREAK! That is Woods’ second!

Lee smirks as it is now tied in terms of breaks. Both men have just one left and we’re not even seven minutes into the match. Lee stalks Woods, waistlocks, but Woods slips around and wrangles Lee to a facelock. Then a float to the waistlock, gator roll to a cover, ONE! But Woods holds on to bridge, TWO! Facelock and cradle, TWO!! Lee escapes to ROCK Woods with that forearm! The fans rally up as Woods snarls, and he ROCKS Lee in return! The fans duel as Lee storms up and ROCKS Woods! Woods ROCKS Lee! Lee fires up and the forearms keep flying! The fans cheer as the shots go back and forth, then Lee fires a flurry! Woods fires back!

Lee and Woods wind up, and they DOUBLE BOOT! Both men fall and the fans are fired up! “This is Awesome!” as a standing count starts. Lee and Woods stir as we pass 3 of 10, but then Lee rises up. Woods reels Lee in, Lee switches, but Woods rolls! Lee turns that into a EURO CLUTCH! TWO!! Woods escapes the move that caught him in September! Lee runs up, Woods TOSSES him out! Lee RAMS Woods low, then springboards, FLYING LARIAT! The fans fire up while Lee covers, TWO! But into the ANKLE LOCK! Lee returns the favor and Woods endures! Lee steps over, S T F! But Woods still fights! Woods reaches out, but Lee slips around!

Lee gets the arm up, BORDER CITY STRETCH!! Woods endures, claws with his free arm, and he powers his way to the ROPEBREAK!! That’s the third and final break for Woods, and Lee STOMPS Woods’ arm! The fans rally while Woods writhes! Lee winds up, runs up, and LARIATS in the corner! Lee whips corner to corner, but Woods reverses to wrench and clinch, CORNER EXPLODER! The fans fire up as Woods deadlift GUT WRENCH PLEXES! And then a RUNNING KNEE!! Then a RECOIL!! Cover, TWO!! Lee survives as we pass ten minutes! Woods is stunned, but he just grabs the arm! SHORT ARM SCISSOR! Lee flails, kicks, ROPEBREAK!

The fans cheer as now both men are without breaks! No telling what happens now! Woods RAMS Lee into the corner, runs side to side, forearm SMASH! Woods goes the other way, BACK BODY BLOCK! Woods goes corner to corner, SHINING WIZARD! The fans fire up with Woods as he goes again, but Lee dodges! Woods POSTS himself! Lee runs up to LEG LARIAT! Cover, Woods reaches out, but Lee wins!!

Winner: Lee Moriarty, by pinfall (still ROH Pure Champion)

Once again, so close and yet so far away from victory! Woods realizes only now that no ropebreaks means no saving himself. Lee survives another showdown with Woods, but they both show respect with the Code of Honor. Lee’s reign continues to shatter records, will no one ever be more Pure than #TAIGASTYLE?

My Thoughts:

A great ROH that was loaded up for the special occasion that is “Revolution Week.” I’ve seen the card for Friday, it is not that special, they probably could’ve put some of these title based matches on that to spice it up. But that said, very good promo from Deonna, and a great Proving Ground from Athena VS Maya. The time limit draw was a clever way to obscure the real result of Maya hitting her finish. Would Athena have survived? Would Maya be the first woman in literal YEARS to pin Athena 1-2-3? The title match will have to determine that, aka Athena will certainly win that. Deonna probably beats Billie for the Pure title, too.

Very good match from Velvet VS Hyan, and very good win for Velvet. Great to see Comoroto back, still a shame his story with Jacoby Watts didn’t pan out. But with that, STP of course won the Proving Ground to go into that title match with TMDK with the momentum. I would think STP wins, but TMDK will make that a great match. Great to see the Colons tonight, and they had a very good match with LFI, but of course LFI retained the tag titles. Good stuff even in the other matches, and it seems GYV and Paid in Full are sticking together to pick on SkyFlight.

Awesome Pure Championship match, probably one of the best in awhile, especially in the case of how all the ropebreaks were used. Woods was so close and that is a great showing for him, but Lee is just unstoppable as champion. No idea who will ever dethrone Lee, and that’s on a similar level to Athena’s reign. Let’s hope the rest of this year helps build up such contenders, “forever” is gonna get boring.
