AJ Lee Stepping Away From WWE After WrestleMania 42
AJ Lee appears to be stepping away from WWE after her emotional WrestleMania 42 singles loss to Becky Lynch, with reports indicating the company has no immediate plans for her. WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select says Lee is done with her current run and will be out of the ring for “quite some time,” though an eventual return is not officially ruled out and she could surface at SummerSlam or other programs later in the year.
Lee returned to WWE last September after nearly a decade away, initially teaming with CM Punk before engaging in a heated rivalry with Lynch that culminated in winning the Intercontinental Title at Elimination Chamber and then dropping it at WrestleMania. In post-show comments she acknowledged stepping away for a while and thanked fans and Lynch for their support, but did not disclose specific reasons or a timeline for her hiatus.
