Brock Lesnar Appears to End WWE Career After WrestleMania 42 Loss

Brock Lesnar suffered a stunning defeat at WrestleMania 42, falling in under five minutes to Oba Femi after Femi hit a pop-up powerbomb. Femi dominated early, and although Lesnar briefly fought back—throwing Femi into the ringside steps and landing an F5—Femi recovered, hit a chokeslam and finished with the pop-up powerbomb; an emotional Lesnar then removed his gloves and boots in the ring, embraced Paul Heyman and walked to the back, gestures that suggested his in-ring career may be over.

A former NCAA standout, Lesnar was pushed to the top of WWE in the early 2000s (including a marquee win over The Rock at SummerSlam 2002), left for the UFC and captured the heavyweight title there before returning to WWE in 2012 as a perennial main-event attraction. The sight of Lesnar leaving his gear in the ring at WrestleMania 42 immediately raised retirement questions for one of the industry’s biggest stars.
