Callum Newman Confirms Long-Term NJPW Deal, Says He Hasn’t Spoken With Tony Khan
IWGP Heavyweight Champion Callum Newman has confirmed he is signed to a long-term contract with New Japan Pro-Wrestling after his Sakura Genesis victory over Yota Tsuji, telling NJPW1972, “I’m signed here. I live here now and I’ve got a long term contract.” Newman added he has not spoken to AEW president Tony Khan and only knows a few names in the promotion personally, citing Will Ospreay and Andrade El Idolo.
Newman and the United Empire made a surprise appearance at AEW Dynasty to back Ospreay against Jon Moxley, and Newman said Ospreay remains “like my big brother,” while acknowledging shifting leadership dynamics within the faction when Ospreay is absent. The champion is next scheduled to defend the IWGP Heavyweight Title against Shingo Takagi at NJPW Wrestling Dontaku.
