Cody Rhodes Proposed Eyepatch Gimmick for Eye Injury, Says Triple H Rejected Idea
After being punted by Randy Orton at WrestleMania 42, Cody Rhodes has been sporting a dramatic eye injury on TV. Rhodes revealed he had pitched bringing back an old eyepatch gimmick to cover the bruise and add a storyline element during his recovery.
Triple H ultimately turned the idea down and Rhodes moved away from the retro look, continuing his run without the accessory. The decision closed the door on the eyepatch angle, keeping Rhodes’ character direction in-house with WWE creative.
