Dakota Kai Says Bayley First Pitched an All-Women Faction That Included Raquel Rodriguez and Alba Fyre
Dakota Kai revisited her surprise WWE return at SummerSlam 2022, revealing Bayley had sent a last-minute pitch to Triple H for an all-women’s faction that ultimately became Damage CTRL with Bayley and IYO SKY. Kai told Chris Van Vliet she was skeptical at first—she had been released earlier in the year—but Bayley’s long-standing idea, which she had pushed since their NXT days, came to fruition almost overnight.
Kai also revealed an earlier effort to sell the concept a year prior, when photos were taken at the Performance Center of a proposed unit that included Raquel Rodriguez and Alba Fyre, though that version never materialized. After her May 2022 release, Kai wrestled on the indies as Charlie before returning to WWE in December and joining the group she once thought would never happen.
