GUNTHER: American Style Less Hard-Hitting Than His European Upbringing
WWE star GUNTHER says the American style of professional wrestling is noticeably less hard-hitting than the European approach he learned growing up. In a recent interview he contrasted the entertainment-focused, safety-conscious American ring psychology with the firmer striking and physical intensity of European strong-style traditions.
GUNTHER explained that adapting to the American system required dialing back some of the harder strikes and emphasizing storytelling and psychology in the ring, while still maintaining intensity. He praised both approaches, noting that blending elements from each region can elevate matches and help performers connect with different audiences.
