Kenny Omega Admits He Returned Too Soon from Diverticulitis, Says He’s Finally Finding His Form

Kenny Omega revealed he regrets returning to the ring earlier than he should have after nearly losing 2024 to a severe case of diverticulitis. In an interview with Vice, Omega admitted, “I came back way too early,” saying that decision hindered his full recovery; he missed all of 2024 and made his comeback at New Japan’s Wrestle Dynasty on January 5, 2025 against Gabe Kidd, a bout later voted Wrestling Observer Newsletter Match of the Year.

Omega added that he’s now “found the equation” with a stricter diet and workout plan that’s helped him regain usable energy and spring, and occasionally feel better than ever. While some days still challenge him, he says monitoring those stronger performances gives him confidence that the “old Kenny Omega” can return to form.
