Daddy magic proved he can put up a fight, but Konosuke proved why he’s The Alpha! Will Konosuke soon become the Two Belt Alpha as he adds the International Championship to the NJPW World Television Championship? Or will Okada prove why he’s the Don Callis Family’s golden boy?

Backstage interview with The Premier Athletes.

Lexy Nair is with “Smart” Mark Sterling, Stori Denali, Ariya Daivari & Tony Nese, and brings up the win streak. That must feel good, so how are they feeling? Daivari says whoa, whoa, hold on a second. This is the problem with ROH! Everyone is always harassing Sterling! Whether it’s commentary, Lexy, or the other wrestlers. It’s why they had to bring in Stori! So please, direct your questions to THE Premier Athletes. Then, Daivari, how does your win streak feel? What’s she doing talking to him? Talk to his lawyer. Lexy turns back to Sterling and he says, “234 DAYS, okay? 234 glorious days! And not a single person on the ROH roster has laid a finger on me.

“I have not been harassed, I have not been attacked, I have not been thrown into the ring, I have not been thrown outta the ring. I have not been kicked off of the apron, I have not been dropped on my head, 234 glorious days. And I’m not surprised, because when you’re team is the Premier Athletes, you’re not attacked, you’re protected.” Nese says if anyone is gonna break that 234+ day streak, if anyone thinks they can make a name off of Sterling, the only thing you’re proving is your stupidity! Because if you wanna lay a finger on Sterling, you have to go through them! Stori steps up to say, “And nobody gets through the Premier Athletes.”

Nese adds, “Do you know why? Because Athletes Rule!” Confident as always, but will they focus on what really matters, which is winning in the ring?

ROH Women’s Pure Championship Proving Ground: Deonna Purrazzo VS Remi Reade!

While Diamante is waiting for Supercard of Honor, The Virtuosa is giving an up-and-comer a chance to prove themselves. But will Deonna read Remi like a book? Or could there be a plot twist here tonight?

The Code of Honor is upheld, the bell rings, and we’re on the clock. The two circle, tie up, and Deonna wrenches. Remi rolls, spins, handsprings, and wrenches back. Deonna slips through, headlocks, then hits the takeover. Remi headscissors but Deonna fights around. Deonna headstands to pop free, and then takes a bow. The fans cheer but Remi frowns. The two reset, tie up again, and Deonna waistlocks. Remi wrenches to wristlock but Deonna rolls, rolls, and rolls free. The fans applaud, but then Deonna dodges to backslide Remi, ONE! They stay hooked up, fight up, and Remi snapmares to then hook a leg. Remi rolls to get the sunset, TWO!

Remi takes a bow and the fans applaud. Even Deonna applauds, respecting that turnaround. The two reset again, tie up, and they go around. Deonna puts Remi in a corner, Remi hooks the ropes with a leg, and the ref counts. Deonna backs off as she forced Remi to use the first of three. Deonna then reels Remi in and whips corner to corner. Remi goes up and over to UPPERCUT! The fans rally as Remi rolls, runs, and UPPERCUTS again! Snapmare, then a BASEMENT UPPERCUT! Cover, TWO! Deonna survives but Remi hurries after her. Remi FISHER- No, Deonna slips through, but Remi gets free of the armlock!

The fans rally as Deonna goes after Remi. Remi breaks free, Deonna ducks a kick, and Deonna kicks low. Deonna reels Remi in, Remi wrenches free, then dodges a lariat to SUPERKICK! Deonna rebounds to BOOT Remi down! The fans fire up as Deonna reels Remi in, POWERBOMB! Then the FUJIWARA ARMBAR!! Remi TAPS, Deonna wins!

Winner: Deonna Purrazzo, by submission (denies Remi Reade a title opportunity)

In three minutes and seven seconds, The Virtuosa finishes reading Remi. She shows respect to the promising young talent, but will she be able to put that same pressure on The Cuban Diamond? Or will Diamante bring more gold home to Athena’s MIT?

Caprice Coleman Chops It Up with Red Velvet.

Well, at least, he will. Coleman and Ian Riccaboni talk first, and Coleman is glad to finally have something like this. Ian says it wasn’t him avoiding Coleman, it’s just that he’s been busy coaching baseball, soccer, basketball, all for the kids. Coleman also helps his community, so they’re busy guys, but it’s great to both be here. Ian has been watching Caprice since high school, with Caprice making his dream come true as a wrestler, then making his way to ROH, then becoming a broadcast team, the longest running duo today! That is crazy. But remember, this is Caprice’s show, Ian’s asking all these questions.

Ian says yes, but Caprice is the most versatile man in wrestling. He wanted to do something special for Caprice tonight. Caprice says Ian already is by being here, but Ian says one person they could learn more about is this special guest Ian secured. Ian hopes Caprice doesn’t mind. Caprice asks what about their rap. Ian says they can do that for social media. But for now, here is the real special guest, Red Velvet! Caprice is definitely surprised as Ian brings in the ROH Women’s World Television Champion. After all, Caprice is always talking about mama’s kitchen and stirring it up, so Ian thought why not bring Velvet to Chop It Up? Good luck!

Ian steps out and Velvet tells Caprice, don’t be so nervous! Caprice nods and tells himself that he can do this. Caprice still stammers but he says now they’re gonna Chop It Up with Red Velvet. Velvet says, “Chopping it up. If anyone’s gonna chop it up, it’s me, in the kitchen.” Caprice still has to talk himself up, but maybe we’ll get the rest of this interview another time. Will Red Velvet keep up the heat as she continues her reign?

Winner: Mark Davis & RPG Vice, by pinfall

Davis ends it with that thunderous driver, and the Callis Family dominates the night! But will ROH soon belong to the DCF?

My Thoughts:

A very good ROH clocking in at 97 minutes, and for the most part these weren’t all filler, as many can be seen as good tune-up matches for Supercard of Honor in a couple weeks. Deonna of course got a win on the Proving Ground, but I’m surprised (maybe even disappointed) we haven’t gotten any promos from the Survival of the Fittest participants. Athena should trying to pressure Billie into being her bodyguard in that match, for us to see hints of Billie wanting to do this for herself again and not just as Athena’s Minion. At the same time, Athena can be coaching Diamante to be ready for Deonna since that’s the Women’s Pure Championship match.

Very good Chop It Up with Caprice being flustered sitting so close to Red Velvet. I don’t think there’s anything set up for the Women’s TV title for Supercard but there really should be. Good promo from Premier Athletes, and of course Stori wins her match. Stori herself could be built up into such a contender, and it’d be so great if she was the first person to bring gold to the Premier Athletes after the couple of years the team has been trying in the Trios and Tag Divisions. Great return to ROH for Mance Warner, he got a strong showing against Shane Taylor. And I did like Viva Van’s finisher being a straitjacket Electric Chair Suplex.

Very good stuff with Don Callis Family on ROH, though of course Konosuke was going to win against Daddy Magic. Great Six Man Tag, and great win for DCF here. Tito taking the pin reminds me of how NJPW would book tune-up tags, the weaker member of one side is the obvious “pin guy” so there it was. Good win for Davis with that then to keep him strong. Maybe Davis can get himself either the ROH TV or ROH World Championship for the sake of the Don Callis Family staying strong and spreading their influence.

My Score: 8.8/10
